Weekly Drawing Prompt Thread

Thanks for the smiles and the giggles

I love the panel where they land and first encounter Davey Jones. Great stuff!

Thank you, fangblackbone! I'm glad you're enjoying the ride. More means of transportation coming, so stay tuned!

Here you have the 22nd installment of "December Deadline." Enjoy!

I have no idea when I'm going to have time to draw tomorrow, but I'll do my best to come up with something. In any case, Happy Holidays, everyone!

We've had travel via boat, jetbike, snake (didn't expect that)... what next?!

Just a quick 'technical' drawing this week, for 'Trumpet':

The final prompt of the year: 'Gift'! Almost...

Awesome trumpet, Ravanon! Also, I really like the background.

And "gift," huh? I guess it makes sense. I can't believe it's the last one!

Happy Holidays, everyone!

"December Deadline" hopefully coming at some point today. In the meantime, please enjoy this year's season greetings from the Albas and all our furry friends:

That is adorable! Happy Holidays!

Thanks! You too, SillyRabbit.

And what better way to celebrate than with the 25th installment of "December Deadline"?

Here's the 26th installment of "December Deadline." Only 5 left!

Here's the 27th installment of "December Deadline." I hope it brings back memories!

Come Back! Shane!

And now... my final drawing for 2020! (You know, unless I randomly decide to draw something else before Hogmanay.)

'Gift':

Whaddya mean "what kind of 'gift' is that?!" It's a perfectly nice gift. I was going to add a ribbon, but I am rather lazy...

Hahaha. Love it, Ravanon! And congratulations on finishing the challenge. You've done an amazing job! I still need to draw mine!

What I did draw is today's installment of December Deadline:

Dude! Never go against Doc Brown! That would be a bad move ;P

And yet...

Here's the 29th installment of "December Deadline." Only two more left!

Is Cogs and Frogs hiring?
I can troubleshoot the scanner

Haha. I'll ask around.

Here's the final Inktober52 prompt, "gift." It's hard to believe it's been a full year of these, but there you have it --52 drawings. Now, Ravanon, you said you wanted to be in charge of choosing our next artistic challenge, right? Right? So, I'll leave you to it.

...wait, what?

Hahahaha!

(You can also read that "Mwhahahaha!")

Hmm... the obvious thing to do is to continue the weekly prompts (drawing from whatever source), since that prevents anyone (e.g. me) getting overwhelmed, and keeps the barrier for participation low. I haven't heard of any 'Inktober 52 2012' yet, but anybody else know of any equivalent challenge posted online already?

Otherwise it's really just a matter of finding a nice word/phrase generator and filtering out the sillier possibilities—words like 'hydroxide' and 'disestablishmentarianism' don't really make good creative prompts.

It'd be nice if we could get more people to participate in this thread as well—there's really no minimum skill requirement, and it's more fun the more contributions there are. I know I probably wouldn't have finished the year if there hadn't been one other person (Mario) also posting every week. And it doesn't really matter if life gets in the way and you miss prompts here and there.

I just did a quick Google search over breakfast, but all I could find were monthly challenges in which you do daily drawings. I like most of the monthly themes (dragons! mermaids!), but since they're daily and not monthly, they won't work. We might need to resort to a phrase generator, but I would love to find something more intentional, because even the Inktober prompts tend to end up being rather dull a lot of the time.

As for participation, I 100% agree! I'll make a post on a couple of threads here on GWJ, but other than that, I don't know how else to strong arm anyone... I mean, persuade anyone to join in.

Okay, I just posted something on a couple of threads, so now I'm back here to post the 30th installment of "December Deadline." Only one left to go! How will it all end? Believe it or not, I have no idea!

Possible conclusions:
ZZZAAAAPPPP (lightning)
Whoops! (dropped)
Ew, followed by it gets better signal with the fresh bird poo.
Dragon's fire
Window washer "Thanks for the free phone"
Flying monkeys
My precious
Signaling the alien invasion

Great ideas all of them!

Mario, adjectives are failing me but it's been such a fun, somehow comforting thing to hit this thread every day and find a new December Deadline strip. Not to mention an impressive accomplishment! Thanks so much for posting it, it's definitely brought a bit of extra joy to the end of this year.

I'd kind of like to take another stab at the weekly prompt thing, I got frustrated and fell off the train pretty quick last time around - I feel like I really put that "no minimum skill requirement" statement to the test. But we briefly made it a family thing, which made it fun even if skill was lacking, and it was a great way to prompt my kids to practice their (considerably superior) drawing skills too.

Great ideas all of them!

Just to be clear, those were guesses not suggestions

Thank you so much, benign1! I really appreciate your kind words, and I'm glad you've enjoyed the crazy trip! Let's see how it all ends tomorrow. I'm curious too, because I still don't know!

As for the weekly prompts, please join the fun in any way you would like to!

Hahaha. Got it! Well, under 24 hours to find out what happens!
