Immortals Fenyx Rising

On the Switch?

I bounced off BoTW pretty quickly. I found climbing and cooking tedious and it was just too big a game for my limited free time. A few hours in this feels much more condensed and something I may actually finish.

FYI - I got the PC version for $33 USD on Epic Games after tax. They are doing their $10 off coupon for anything over $14.99 right now.

Yes.

I still find it noticeable how the grass, plants etc. are rather sparse and don't look as good as screen shots of the other versions but after I play for 10 minutes or so I stop caring. It is just fun.

Well.. that is good to hear.. I will soon see it for myself!

I got mine but haven't started. Hoping it looks good on the PS5.

Ps5.... I wish I could get one of those hehe

Finished the game tonight. They stuck the landing.

Great to hear the ending is good. About how long is this game? I'm pretty much trying to finish everything on the map. Will see if I start skipping anything later in the game but for right now I'm enjoying everything and my plan is to 100% it.

Been playing the game the majority of the day today which is unusual for me - I'll typically play an hour or hour-and-a-half, and then go do something else. But can't put this one down. Didn't help I found photo mode which I'm really enjoying using - just need some character posing options.

But the game got a bit more expensive. My wife saw me playing and she was like "I think I might like that game." Problem is her computer is older than mine so likely wouldn't play well with it. And she's the type to get obsessive over games when she's in to them spending all her free time playing till she burns out. Over 200hrs in to BOTW and is nearing that now on Xenoblade Chronicles. So I just spent $40 on another copy so she could play it on the console and leave my computer free.

I have zero problems with it though. This game is pretty fantastic.

I did not 100% the map, but I did a lot of side stuff. I was at about 40 hours when I got to the end.

Got this game Friday. Enjoying myself a lot. I'm a real sucker for the dialogue. As I grew up reading all the old greek stories.

Playing on hard which is a bit of a challenge. The big thing is weapon upgrade. You start with pretty low damage. Having a lot of fun with this.

One of the voice actors posted this tweet.

That would have been great if they added some of that type of commentary to the actual game.

But yeah still loving it. 22+ hrs in and just moved on to a second area - almost 100% the first area (like 98%). There's one vault I can't get to yet and another where I couldn't figure out how to get the treasure chest.

Some of the puzzles in this game are pretty challenging. There was this vault with boxes that was pretty crazy. You had to know to "save" the boxes as you went along and stack those boxes just right. But unlike BOTW there's pretty much only a single solution to the puzzles. I'm not sure if that helps or hinders.

The other problem with vaults beyond the puzzle difficulty is the ones that require quick reflexes to get through. There's one vault where you have to maneuver yourself through the air using updrafts while avoiding lasers and keeping an eye on your stamina to make sure it doesn't deplete. There's multiple sections and they get more complicated as you go along. If you screw up your dead and have to start that section all over again. It can get frustrating.

For me the vaults are at the right level. Plenty of "easy" ones with a sprinkle of difficult ones. But I've always felt great about finishing a vault.

Man how this game didn't blow up I'll never know. It's straight up a blast for me. Loving the dialogue. Some of it's actually risque but that fits the greek gods after all. It's basically family therapy for greek gods the game.

There's lots of design stuff I wish I could tweak but otherwise this is great fun.

I've got no work until Jan 4 starting in a few hours. Need to get this to the top of the list.

I broke down and bought it with the $40 XB sale. I'm in the middle of a Dark Souls 3 playthrough but may give it a shot in between moments of abuse.

Playing on hard. 25 hours in. I have had quite a few crashes for some reason but still loving it thanks to a generous and convenient save system. GOTY.

Yeah I had a crash or two but it basically saves constantly. Most I lost was like thirty seconds. Currently working on the last God.

That sounds like a big improvement over AC: Odyssey. I always lost 5-10 minutes the couple of times it crashed and one time I got stuck in the environment.

And I just spent most of the day finishing the game off. The ending was good but I will say I did not like the last few puzzles. Oddly enough I never had any issue with them for most the game but at the very end I had a few hair pulling ones. And one really stupid jump you had to make. Felt like it was not play tested enough.

The story does finish strongly and thoroughly enjoy it. Ending spoilers below:

Spoiler:

The whole twist at the ending genuinely caught me off guard. Prometheus lying, and being the son of Zeus said to kill him. Great twist with decent foreshadowing. Hell I heard that myth before and just didn't recognize it in the story. Also Zeus realizes how much of an asshole he was, was pretty good too.

If the Chinese Gods DLC they're planning is half as decent as this I'm definitely planning to pick it up.

Edit: Also the charged hammer smash and charged sword spikes are the two best attacks in the game. Kind of backwards but the sword does crazy stun while the hammer does crazy damage.

I'm about 20 hours in now and really enjoying it. It definitely is an Ubisoft game though. The amount of stuff on the map is overwhelming as always. Looks and runs fantastic on the Series X.

Just picked this up. Having a blast so far. What a great world/atmosphere they have created here. So refreshingly not dark and gritty, but beautiful and colorful. Only about 6 hours in, but I'm totally enamored.

Also the. fact that they have transmog from the jump so I can look how I want, but put on the armor that helps me the most, is something every RPG should have.

And the flight feels really great.

How this didn't explode on release is a complete mystery.

Worth $20? Have a $10 certificate at Best buy, so only 20 for me. Never planned to play this game but keep hearing good things.

Yes, yes and yes. It is well worth $20.

Yeah, picked this up on the PS sale. Enjoying it quite a bit. The combat is pretty satisfying, the mobility options are pretty great, and the colorfulness of the world is refreshing.

Out of the current crop of Ubisoft Open World Collectathons, I'd rate Fenyx as follows:
Legion > Fenyx >> Valhalla

I plan to start his one on the weekend

Really enjoying this game. The puzzles in the game are pretty fantastic. Some require a lot of thought or hunting around to figure out but very few are hair pulling frustrating. Over 50 hours in the game now as I'm trying to 100% it and my character is really starting to feel like a god now. Combat has become somewhat easy but with the amount of time I've spent doing all the extra stuff I feel like I've earned that power. The developers also thankfully included a "master" level for powers so even though I've maxed out I can still spend coins to increase my power.

Also loving the in-game photo mode too. When you create a photo they sometimes appear on the map of other peoples games and they can like them. Most of mine are getting at least one like. Sharing a few.

Think this will tie for my game of the year (Journey to the Savage Planet being the other game)

That was in AC: Odyssey and pretty cool yes

It's a steal at $20. I'd pay full price and feel good about it. I may even grab the season pass and I rarely do that. After just over 30 hours I have a feeling this may be my GOTY.

Quick - go post a list here!

I watched a trailer for the Season Pass, and it looks good, but I have never ever played all the DLC of games that I have loved. I buy them and burn out so quick.

47 HOURS. Complete. Great game. Last portion had a few frustrating bits. #2 for 2020.
