I think they sound really cool, but I'm not familiar with puzzle prices. We don't really do jigsaw puzzles in my family, although they do seem like they could be fun.

I'm very tempted but I'm not sure how much my 4 year old would enjoy it. She's a little to young to contribute and would be a lot of watching for her.

$20 for a single nice puzzle is fine, a little 'high end' but fine at least here in Seattle.

$20 for a single nice non-magical puzzle, right?

I'm in for the three-pack, since I'm a sucker and my teenagers have been hinting that they'd be up for a jigsaw puzzle. Too bad they'll have to wait until Christmas.

Yeah a non magical puzzle I also backed for the 3 pack!

I did play an 'escape room' puzzle. it had some hidden stuff and a sort of puzzle to solve once the puzzle was done. It was an intriguing concept but the execution was kinda crappy.

Ooooh I forgot about magical puzzles. I backed it a week or so ago (all 3). Despite not shipping until October and hopefully not being a quarantine activity, I thought it would still be a lot of fun to do.

Found this peculiar looking platformer/RPG on kickstarter, but it looks like it might not get funded. I backed it, but the goal looks steeply out of reach.

Just backed this Kickstarter:
The Great American Witch

The Great American Witch is a modern gothic tabletop roleplaying game about the secret world of witches in America and the supernatural threats working to destroy them.

Built on Christopher Grey's award-nominated RPG framework The Great American Novel, the game focuses on powerful witches who use ancient magic drawn from the feminine forces of creation. They struggle to balance their everyday lives, the supernatural, secret societies, and personal conflicts within their covens.

The Great American Witch uses a framework similar to Powered by the Apocalypse Games, FATE, and indy storytelling games like Ten Candles. It is, however, designed for extended campaign play in the tradition of World of Darkness or other urban fantasy traditional games.

Yes, you will play witches, but they are not necessarily the witches of popular culture. They are not the tropes of film or anime. You will play witches of legend. You will play witches with the power to destroy societies and establish entire movements. You will play avatars of ancient goddesses: feared, worshipped, or reviled for ages.

Your witch topples governments, create miracles, and guides global leaders. Your witch protects the waking world from supernatural terrors, leads nations into glory, and saves humanity from themselves. Your witch is the divine on earth and keeper of the most powerful magic in the world.

No stretch goals just $15 for the PDF and a coupon if you want to get the hardcover later. It releases in September.

Oh hello! Please consider taking a look at this:

Not only do they have some amazing writing talent involved but they (might) also have me! Since i'm stretch goal no 1 to polish up all their maps

Dreadful Realms: Caverns of the Wise Minister

Twisted!

So, I found this oddball project for a Metroidvania with Romance Sim elements and I backed it, but it's almost a day before the dealine and it's still missing the goal.

I'm hoping posting it here might get it some support from the GJ community. I figure it might catch some eyes.

Will check it out, for sure! Thanks!

Edit: Thank you.

I started to watch The Dice Tower's video, but it's looooong. They talked a lot about dice - is this thing another Yahtzee plus theme game, like The Reckoners? I'm not too into that. LOVE the theme, though.

Not sure, but it looks like the type of game where you dice resources get allotted and then rolled for results. But there looks to be some X-COMish base (ship) management between planets.

If it helps, this is coming from Awaken Realms which has a pretty good track record when it comes to thematic/narrative games. This War of Mine, Lords of Hellas, Nemesis, and Tainted Grail were all theirs and all pretty excellent games.

I kickstarted a Rasberry Pi 4 that CoolerMaster put together (I think it was really the case but they bundled it with a Rasberry Pi 4). I got it today and have absolutely no idea what to do with it, I just wanted one

I think you have been very successful and should consider your task complete.

GENKI ShadowCast - seems like it's a converter from an HDMI out port (e.g. from a Switch dock, or PS5) to USB-C, and software that can read and display the 1080p AV stream from that USB connection on a PC or Mac. I know GENKI has made some nifty Switch hardware before that's gotten good press, but I haven't personally tried any of it so I won't vouch; I'm going in on this, though, because I think it'd be neat to have Switch gaming on my PC.

I have their dock which works as advertised, so I guess that counts as an endorsement?

I received my three Magic Puzzles back in November, but I didn't open them up until the holidays. My mom, kids and I assembled the first one on New Year's Day; it took us about 8 hours, but it was worth it, and the end was indeed magical.

I've done the first and second so far. The first was more fun than the second to put together. We haven't started the third yet but it's on my to-do list. And how the puzzle is "magic" is really cool. I enjoyed the twist at the end.

There's also some nice little cultural references in the first one, even aside from the checklist of things to find.

Spoiler:

Did you notice Harry, Hermione, and Ron? And while the blue police box was hard to miss, nearby was someone with an incredibly long scarf...

We did two of the three puzzles so far (islands and dream). Been really happy with them. Having so many more edge pieces really throws things off, but a in a good way.

Agreed! We did the normal "find the edges, and extra-find the corner pieces", and got immediately weirded out by how many edges and potential-corner pieces there were. Also, that one particularly unusual piece in the Happy Islands gave us a good laugh when we found it while sifting through everything.

Even with that rightfully vague description, I know exactly what you mean.

Handheld PC, like Nintendo Switch. Cheaper games, no Mario, has keyboard. I remain skeptical but this obviously floats many people’s boats.
