Yessssssssss.......yes please and thank you!

All the Star Wars announcements are on this page. Including stuff like the untitled Taika Waititi Film, the anime Star Wars Vision shorts, and A Droid Story.

This is all so very exciting!

I'm most excited about Ahsoka, but that's probably because of the tease we got in The Mandalorian. The rest I'll wait until they're closer to air and reserve judgement/excitement until then. Did they say anything about a timeline of when these are supposed to release? I'm guessing they're going to be spread out over the few years?

Anyway, I'm still trying to get through Clone Wars. And I mean, trying to. I'm now in the 3rd season and I'm tired of episodes that have generals debating war tactics as hundreds of clones fight hundreds of droids. Also, episodes that deal with senate politics and trade embargos and stuff could go away and I wouldn't care.

To me, the stuff I love in Star Wars is the original trilogy, Rebels, and the Mandalorian. Give me a core group of shipmates to latch on to, and let them fight to survive and do good in the universe around them. When they get into battles to free planets and politics it's like I'm being forced to read The Silmarillion when I wanted to read The Hobbit (to compare it to another fantasy world).

I still plan to get through Clone Wars but forgive me if I fall asleep through an episode or two along the way.

What I love best about Clone Wars (besides Ahsoka!) is how I really cared about the clones after watching it - much different how you see the clones in the PT.

There's a good chunk of Clone Wars could be skipped entirely. Not by me mind you, as I am pretty much incapable of skipping around in shows, but for those who can. If you're mainly watching it to get filled in on some of the backgrounds of things from the Mandalorian, there are a lot of episodes which are not necessarily filler, but not related to the main thread of the series. They flesh out the events of the Clone Wars and the galaxy in general, but aren't relevant to Anakin, Ashoka, Obi-Wan, or the Clones.

I have tried several times but I just can’t get into Clone Wars. I feel like it’s some kind of personal character flaw.

Did you try watching it in chronological order?

No, it's just the art direction. It makes me think "Star Wars as portrayed by Fisher-Price characters." I can't get past that. I have tried many times over the years, ever since the movie came out. I enjoyed the movie. The series has a different feel, better, but there’s that art direction.

When I saw the news of the Rogue Squadron movie I got pretty hyped as it was a surprise to me. Will be interesting to see some more info on it.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who doesn't like the art in those series.

I'm not a big fan of it either, but it was worth getting used to. It looks worse on some characters more than others.

It does get better as it goes on, but I always assumed it was a budget limitation for the Disney Channel at the time.

Yeah, could be fun. I'm most excited about the Taika Waititi movie.

Nothing was said about several other previously mentioned Star Wars movies. There was a High Republic trilogy. Kevin Feige was working on a movie or more, although that was rumored to be about Ashoka Tano so maybe that's a follow on to her series. Then Rian Johnson was supposedly working on a trilogy.

Clone Wars was a Cartoon Network show, at least the first 5 seasons were (season 6 was Netflix & season 7 was Disney+). Rebels was the Disney XD show and had better (though still similar) character design.

Right. Same logic, though. I always assumed that the animation style was limited by the budget and time required to produce episodes.

Ditto. It feels like someone couldn't figure out if they wanted a cartoon or a CGI show and tried to have both.

Rian Johnson stuff was previously not planned to come out until 2024.

I feel like they're more likely to kill SW for a few decades until the inevitable reboot.

this IS the reboot after the hit job the sequal trilogy was.

Rogue Squadron is December 2023. So the Taika Waititi film is at least 2024.

Epic rap battle Luke Skywalker vs Harry Potter

(Little bit of language may not be SFW)

It's also been rumoured to not actually happen anymore.

That why I said it was interesting it wasn't mentioned

I was always going to be in on a Rogue Squadron movie because I'm apparently hard-wired to feel happy when I hear the sound of an X-Wing engine. That said, Patty Jenkins's sales pitch in her Twitter video made me feel like it could be something really special.

Anyone know if there are any Clone Wars fan edits that cut out the interminable parts?
Interested in watching for the parts people seem to like and care about (Clones, Ahsoka, Mandalorian background info) but definitely don't have the time or tolerance for the junk.

I skipped the hell out of it by googling "best episodes" lists and scanning other the other episode descriptions for Mandalorian-relevant bits. I highly recommend it.

I used this resource to choose what to watch. It was pretty good. Doesn't touch on the last season but I'm just watching it all since it sounds like it's generally regarded as one of the best.

Season 7 was entirely about wrapping up storylines and moves directly into the events of Revenge of the Sith (with the final episodes happening during it).

Yeah. But it also sets up the origin of Bad Batch and shows us why we should care. It also reinforces the Maul story arc, and shows us that we should expect more of him.

I wouldn't expect anything more from Maul. His story was given a rather definite ending in Rebels and they didn't leave much of an opening to explore what he was doing between the events of season 7 of Clone Wars and when he shows up in Rebels.
