Diablo III Catch-All 2.0

The new season looks pretty incredible.
Lots of set and legendary boosts.
Summon 1 of 3 shadow clone types per class when you click a shrine. (could be hit or miss, or hit and miss based on class)
But here is the biggie: 4th kanai's cube slot!

PTR is up.
I fired it up and felt that something was different. I had to quit to read the patch notes. Wow!

I have only played about 30-40 minutes and just with some of the wizard changes, they are going to be so much fun. The hydra stuff is really nice. I am very eager to try the energy twister and arcane orb stuff.

I haven't event looked at the other classes and the 4th cube slot is not implemented yet.
I have seen posting regarding how powerful and fun bombardment crusaders are.

This next season is going to be a great one!

Ugh!
I am stalling pretty hard this season. My first character was a witch doctor and I have to say they are even easier to gear up to T10 than wizards. Gazing demise is ludicrously easy to craft or gamble for and it is powerful enough to fly you through the GR levels as you find legendaries, ancients and rank up your LoD gem.

Unfortunately you need to start finding Mundunugus at T11 because that is when you start to need the rarer support pieces to push further. Sadly, Mundunugus has been very difficult for me to find more than 3 pieces of in any season. And I really wanted to save the haedrigs for a necro, or monk.

So I made a necro alt and my god that shadow clone is powerful. When I summon one at a shrine, I just run around as fast as I can while it annihilates everything around me. If you have every watched that movie "The Losers", there is that scene where Chris Evans points at things and they "magically" die because the groups sniper is badass. Yeah, it is like that ;P

Unfortunately, the necro set that I used the haedrigs for is mildly useless without the Haunted Visions amulet that makes your simulacrums not die. And that has been frustratingly hard to gamble and craft. (0 for 4 cube, 0 for 20 gamble)

So I went to my old wizard standby. I flew to 70 and started working my way up the GRs only to stall at T11 because my wizard has inherited the bad RNG of the witch doctor and necro. Except it is worse for a couple of reasons. There are many paths to go now for my wizard and none of them are working. I am 0 for 50 with blood shards for a Magistrate, 0 for 3 on cubing a Serpent Sparker, 0 for 6 on cubing a Magistrate, 0 for 4 on cubing a etched sigil, 0 for 40 with blood shards for an etched sigil.

The other frustration with the wizard is that she has never had these RNG problems out of like the 40 that I have created and run to T6 over the last 8 years. Typhons has dropped better than any of the other sets but this season I got an ancient deathwish and 3 pieces of firebird, tals and delseres before I got 2 pieces of Typhons.

On my witch doctor I have full Arachyrs but 0 luck with the fire bat staff... I may have to go back to the LoD spirit barrage and see if I can get any helltooth or more zuni.

I understand RNG but sometimes ya just need to vent *sigh*

Hurray for Losers references!!

I picked a Barb to start this season and regretted it. The free set sucks. On Switch I can't get past GR18. On PC, I did better, but having little luck with RNG.

What set should I go for this season? What's teh hawtness?

I went Monk, and the default set is very speedy. Probably not great for pushing, but veeery speedy.

Most of the sets are each class's best set. (aside from Barb where spin to win wastes set is king and one of the dominant sets in game)

-Monk is godly.
-Demon Hunter GoD is godly
-Necro is godly because it is top tier in every role (aoe trash, boss/elite killer, support, speed), unfortunately their set needs a specific amulet to push more than T7
-Barb is godly if you don't use haedrigs for its set (use the wastes set instead)
-Witch Doctor is good, you don't have to use haedrigs for mundunugus but it will be easier if you do
-Crusader set is strong, don't play one if you are not going to use haedrigs on it, they can be very time consuming to build without that set (valor)
-Wizard is good, there are a lot of interesting changes for energy twister builds, I really like typhons set but it is considered B tier (which is fine for me since it can be built to handle GR 100, perhaps 105 or 110 solo)

TLDR - monk necro or DH; but with minor hiccups you will have fun with all of them

Thanks. I don't play DH as much as the others, so maybe that's the one to go for.

Also note that the season conquests aren't great:
They have the 2 speed runs - 20 minute boss kill and story campaign in an hour
Those could potentially be easier to do because of shadow clones
They have the set dungeon related one which always sucks
Then there is leveling 3 gems to 65
And lastly there is reach GR 55 solo with 6 different sets

Boss kill is much more doable with a lucky shrine. Your shadow clone will be able to kill a boss almost instantly that would normally take you a minute. (you can be op yourself and kill the boss in seconds but the shadow clone will do it faster while your lesser geared)

Leveling the gems is definitely your best bet and you can do it on HC for 2/3 of your conquests done.

GR 55 solo with the sets is going to be a grind but otherwise easy to do. Each class's new set is in the list of available sets for completion. There are plenty of options, you just have to grind for 5 pieces (x6) + a RORG:
wiz - tals, typhons, maybe firebirds, vyrs (but I hate vyrs) can do it
DH - GoD, unhallowed, shadow, marauder can do it
wd - mundunugus, maybe helltooth, maybe zuni, maybe jade, I'm trying right now with arachyrs
barb - wastes, maybe the furious charge set
monk - justice, maybe ulianas
sader - valor, others are too grindy to build
necro - new set, pestilence got a boost

I don't know anyone who does the set mastery conquest... like ever. I can't think of a more guaranteed rage quit season mechanic

I'm back from Thanksgiving, so I'll probably jump back in because I'm working from home so that'll be a fun activity.

It's actually been a pretty rough season so far. I haven't played as much as past seasons but RNG isn't very kind. Was Paragon 900 before I got my first usable Demon Hunter weapon. Still don't have the other one Ancient yet. Very little ancients on my DH so far.

Barely getting primals too. Normally I'd get a bunch but RNG for whatever reason this season has just been really off.

I'm shocked I haven't gotten a RoRG yet. That's usually like the first legendary I get.

OMG, my RORG this season... I had to do so many act 1 caches and normal and GR rifts. It has taken me longer in the past, but I wasn't making a concerted effort then.

On the flip side, I got my first circle of navjol (sp?) that I can remember. It is the necro ring that summons 2 skeletal mages per cast. I actually got it at like level 20ish or some low level that I was able to use it extensively on the road to 70.

Glad to see some activity here, was getting worried nobody was going to play. I am having equally as bad of RNG as others have mentioned. I plan to do the 3 gems and 6 sets for conquests. I hope to do speed run but will need help with it at some point. As anyone gets to that point, give me a holler.

Lol. Nevermind, one just dropped for me.

I have dipped back in for an hour or 2 over the last few days and RNG has been quite a bit better.
-I need to find something for better WD defense. I got a mojo that send 30% damage to your zombie dogs which has helped but I know I won't be able to hit T16 with it.
-I have magistrate and 5 pieces of typhons on my wizard but I am still limited by not having a serpent sparker or halo of karini for survivability in high GRs.
-I leveled up a DH to 70 but stalled building her at about 500 damage
-I don't think I've played my necro since I last posted

I've completed by WW Barb set and can easily cover Torment 13, but I'm not sure how to improve from here.
Is it all gambling and reforging for slightly better versions?

Taeguk gem
2 pcs capt crimson's set (damage and defense based on cost and cooldown reduction)
There are 4 kanai's cube slots so there are great items like echoing fury that you can use in in the extra slot.
As you climb torment levels you should be able to equip 2 2.8-3K damage one handed weapons.
Crit% at 50%
Crit damage% at 400%
Augments on your armor and weapons

With half of that your should be able to do GR 85-90
With all of that you should be able to do GR 100+

Really enjoying the season so far. I heard about the GoD build for DH and it’s not like I needed anymore incentive to go DH but here we are.

I’m still putting the starter gear together, so in the meantime I’ve replaced Hungering Arrow with Grenades and cubed a perk that brings bigger booms from hucking grenades.

You just poked your toe in the pacific my friend ;P

I'm targeting a 'splody palm sweeping wind build. Still trying to figure out which set to go for to make it happen.

I’m amazed at how well the frame rate holds up on console when I’m filling the screen with grenades and pinwheeling mob corpses. It looks like with the right gear I’m going to have to graduate to hungering arrow but damn it’s gonna be a sad day to give up those carpet bombs.

D3 is a gorgeous game with very efficient graphics. I though my wizard was a special effects smorgasbord but it barely holds a candle now to my spirit barrage WD with grim reaper clones. 3 characters casting spirit barrage with effects for 4 of the 5 runes firing off, acid cloud, locust swarm, haunt and equipment effects like bubbles and convention of elements swirling elements. My zombie dogs have their rune based halo and gargantuan releases a slam explosion every few seconds.

And the performance? Not a hitch on my laptop with piddly onboard graphics.

And as if you caused it, for the first time every D3 crashed on me twice last night for the first time(s) ever. On a Nephalim Rift in a Cemetery setting, the game froze repeatedly on my GOD DH, then crashed.

No harm done, just highly ironic.

I don't think you know the power you wield, fangblackbone!

I play d3 in a window because a season or so ago they patched the game and introduced a hard lock up. (could not ctrl shift esc, alt enter, alt tab) I have never had a hard lock up that required me to reset in windows 10 up until that point.

So was going to try to completely finish the season again this time (Season 21 was the first time I ever did this). But the Conquests are just ridiculous. Certainly beyond the reach of a solo player.

Am I just too inexperienced to not see all but one of these as nigh impossible?

gems, 6 sets to gr55 are both solo. I will end up getting help on the bosses run.

Almost any 6 piece set with barely average gear will do a 55.

If you get one character to at least T14, it opens up a lot of opportunities. You get 3 death breaths per elite. (4 if you are T16), and ancient and set pieces start dropping more regularly.
Plus, bounty rewards correspond to your T level. T12 cache = 12 act materials, T14 = 14, and T16 = 16 mats.

Ideally, you want to get 1 character geared well enough to speed farm T16 rifts and GR 75, 80 or 90.

I'm thinking about doing a hardcore character and getting gems to 65 on that for my final conquest.

Depends how easy the boss run is... One more day and no one will be playing any other game other than Cyberpunk, so do it now if you can!
