Immortals Fenyx Rising

Seems that it will be a good game

Seems like my Ubi+ subscription really paid off this year!!

All three of Ubisoft's titled have had middling reviews. It's almost as if at least one of the titles could've used a little more time in the oven, if not all three. Releasing all three in a row seems a bit like hubris to me. Or stupidity. Or both.

Wasn't this supposed to release in the spring? Seems like it already GOT a bit of extra time.

I’m glad this is reviewing well. This game looked like my jam so I’m pleased it doesn’t suck.

And it’s on PS4!

It looks fun, but it also screams "discounted to $20 in 2-3 months" to me.

Even better! I can’t even count how many games I’ve played that the internet told me to hate that I got on discount and wound up really enjoying.

Right there with you! I still remember all the hate when Darksiders first came out and I absolutely loved it.

Yeah, but is it any...

no. I can't do it.

Nearly every Ubisoft game has been delayed pretty significantly already. I think Valhalla is the only one that wasn't and that was because they waited a while to announce its release date.

I was also looking forward to this game to "fill need for a Breath of the wild" Game.. Cant wait to play it

That's all Ubisoft games though, because the "real" game is the $100+ edition.

I believe they increased the scope with the delay. My guess is it was originally going to be a Switch exclusive, but decided to put it on everything.

Still seems like they could've pushed...something. Cyberpunk's been delayed more than any other game on existence not named Duke Nukem.

SkillIUp really really liked this game.

It's the least "Ubisoft" game from Ubisoft that I've played in years.

This got me to buy day one. I'm weak for whatever he likes.

Launching bears 50 feet through the air? I think you just sold the game to me.

Well, I ended up NOT cancelling my "Gods and Monsters" pre-pre-pre order on Amazon that was there for a year or so lol.... lets see how the game does with me. Game should be here tomorrow!

I hate this time of year.... I have no self control and end up buying just about every game I'm even slightly interested in. I'm right on the precipice of buying this.

Get Ubisoft+ instead so you only pay $15 instead of $60

Oops

I've played for an hour.

It's charming. I'm charmed.

Thank god I'm not the only one. This month has been ugly. In a beautiful way

This has made a great first impression. I’m not far in, just got to the island that looked like a turtle. I turned the compass off, peek at the map if I need to get my bearings. So far I prefer this style of game play over AC: Valhalla - it does feel more natural and less reliant on icon following. In AC, I can try to play ignoring the map icons and markers but I feel like I am fighting the game. Here is feels like a viable way to play without quadrupling my navigation and searching time. Playing on hard and it doesn’t feel too hard.

Now so far it seems everything I see that could be something special is, so that takes a little of the excitement out of it. It feels like maybe they could use a little more empty space. I like the different activities and puzzles that I’ve found and while the story telling does feel like it is aimed at a younger audience, I do find it kinda charming and it has some humor.

I prefer the visual style of the AC games. If they could make this type of game while having the visuals more like Valhalla or the other recent AC games that would be great. Still, this is very nice looking - just not my preference.

I hope it hold up because so far so good.

Tip: You can use the Far Sight ability (hold R3) at any location to scan and find icons representing points of interest. When it was first introduced, I thought you could only do it on top of the big statutes.

Three or so hours in, I'm still finding the combat somewhat challenging. I feel this is due to the fact that a) I'm old and b) I'm unlearning the Assassin's Creed Valhalla control scheme.

The humor of the game is mostly working for me. After playing several dour games lately, it's nice to have some lighter fare.

I decided to check this out and ended up playing for 4+ hours. The game starts off a little rough and the humor and storytelling can be cheesy and obvious. I think it get's better as you go along when the story stuff is not piled on like it is at the beginning when a lot is dumped on you. The humor is fine in small doses.

This game is a bit different than I expected. It has a feel of a b-list ps2 game mixed with a ubisoft open world and a little bit of breath of the wild. I don't mean b-list like it's poorly made, because It's not, but it feels a little generic.

Most of the gameplay is great. I really like the combat, especially as a learn how to use different approaches and how to use the stun. I've enjoyed the puzzles too. I watched one review (maybe ign) where a big complaint was the puzzles were boring and generic. I haven't found that. They do use well worn mechanics, like lighting a torch or move boxes to pressure plates, but I've had some that really stumped me for a bit and working out the solution was fun, not frustrating.

Overall, I'm positive on the game. I'm playing through it on Ubisoft+. If you have other stuff to play, I would recommend holding off. This seems like a perfect game to get in 2-3 months at a $30-$40 price point when you exhausted the big holiday releases.

Love the game but several frustrating crashes. I don't even have crashes in Valhalla like others are experiencing.

My copy should be here tomorrow... hope it is good

I'm really enjoying my time with this game.

The bad: the game has crashed 3 times for me on the Xbox Series X. Each time it happened in the Hall of the Gods, but I never lost any progress.

I beat my first wraith today (a miniboss), which seemed to be designed to teach you the parry system. Once I became less aggressive and parried his attacks, it all came together. I'm starting to feel very powerful, except, when I get hit I can lose a ton of health. For me, at normal, the game has been a good level of challenge.

I'm generally enjoying the puzzles. Many require you to look carefully at your surroundings and there is not much handholding. Since many puzzles are physics-based, I have seen alternative solutions.

I listened to Waypoint Radio today and Austin and Patrick generally like the game, but are not too impressed. There was a lot of time spent comparing this game to Breath of the Wild. I'm feeling like it's Darksiders all over again, but now with a different Zelda game.

Did you go to the actual mini-boss lair or was it out in the world? The wraiths are like shadows of a mini-boss. The wraith fights in the world keep repeating until you kill the actual mini-boss in their lair. It felt like every hour or two, the big bad would send the same wraith at me, until I finally killed the original, which was probably the toughest battle I fought in the game in my 12hrs so far. I think there is one wraith type for each gods’ part of the map.

There have been a few things I’ve either missed the game informing me about or the game just failed to. There are so many upgrade types and currencies. I was many hours into the game before I realized you could upgrade the effects of potions at the same place you craft them. I have a mount I didn’t know about for along time. It hasnt been super useful. The map doesn’t seem set up for traveling by horse.

The more I play the game the more I’m enjoying it. I really like the puzzles both in the shrines and in the world. I’m digging the combat too. It’s hitting my sweet spot of having some depth and strategy but not being too technical. I like that I feel like I’m constantly progressing and leveling up different aspects of my character. It’s a stark contrast with AC:Valhalla upgrade system.

Darksiders is a franchise i HAVE yet to play and want to.
I will start this weekend Fenyx!
