Gameplay Overview:

Was watching a Twitch stream and they brought up the banter between Zeus and Prometheus telling the story. I thought the banter was funny enough that I clipped it.

Also, Immortals Fenyx Rising dev comments on Breath of the Wild comparisons. Because you knew it was going to come up.

I need someone with all xbox, ps4, and switch to detail what will be better/worse about each version. Unfortunately that usually doesn't happen until after release when someone can break down framerates and resolution, etc.
Since I have all three systems I am torn about what to choose for.

I guess I might do the same thing I did for Cyberpunk - the version that Amazon has on the best sale.

"Fenyx?" f*ck off.

I really dislike the name, but I love how bright, colorful, and fun this looks.

Yeah, I'm all over this because of the setting and look. We don't get many AAA devs doing this sort of thing and I'm here to support it, despite not being a big fan of Ubi's open world structures.

Yeah loving what I have seen so far with the environments, movement, bosses etc!

Name bad, everything else looks amazing.

Immortals: Fenyx Rising — On the Wings of Daedalus, a hands-on preview

Recently I’ve gotten my hands on that used to be known as Gods and Monsters. It’s rare that a game surprises me as I usually have a really solid idea of what’s on the horizon. This is one of those moments where I was happily surprised. This fresh IP, now entitled Immortals: Fenyx Rising, follows a familiar open-world approach we’ve seen time and again in Ubisoft titles, but after spending two hours with the game I’m happy to report that it seems to be shaping up to be something entirely new.

I'm pretty stoked for this game. It seems to directly copy Breath of the Wild in many ways, and I am okay with that.

I've been bummed over the years that there haven't been more Skyrim-alikes. The closest we ever really got was more Fallout in space with The Outer Worlds - which I liked quite a bit.

Immortals Fenyx Rising Preview - To Generic To Rise?

The game demo is up on Stadia today. I spent a bit of time with it, although I haven't finished it. (I also played it with mouse and keyboard, which I'm not used to. I'm hoping to get some time in it with a controller later on.)

The joke, of course, is that this game is the aberrant love child of Assassin's Creed Odyssey and Breath of the Wild. But as I'm playing it, it feels a lot more like AC Odyssey than anything else. It's bright and colorful, and you can glide around, but the feel of the game is similar, and it looks like the gameplay is underpinned by the same tiered loot and ability trees as AC Odyssey. I admit to feeling a bit let down by the big map marker for an Epic Loot Chest.

I'm not quite sure what to make of the level design, either. As promised, it's very open and you're not led by the nose from one location to the next. There's no mini-map by default, and you can disable the compass, if you want. But the map had neither the realism of AC Odyssey's map nor the carefully crafted organic feel of Breath of the Wild.

Breath of the Wild had an overworld filled with puzzles, platforms, and secrets, but they often felt like those things had grown up from the world rather than drawing attention to themselves. By contrast, this game has a puzzles scattered around the map, but they're much more ostentatious. I found a series of ringed axe handles that you needed to shoot an arrow through (a wonderful nod to Odysseus) but they were bright orange, stuck across the landscape in obvious rows, and even had a platform emblazoned with a bow and arrow where you needed to stand to start the puzzle.

I'm curious to put more time into it, but I'll be honest that it's not as immediately impressive as I had hoped it would be. I'm not sure how long the demo lasts or what all is available, but I'll follow-up if anything I see in it changes my mind.

I dearly hope anyone and everyone eager for this enjoys themselves, but I can't with this title. Like, to a such a comedic degree, even I am confused by my reaction, but the title is soooooooo baaaaaaaad that even though it certainly sounds like something I might enjoy at a least a little, I...just can't get past the title. I want to know who decided they shouldn't use a colon.

I absolutely hate the title. I avoid using it, and I tend to call it by its old name even though that feels embarrassingly petty. The name is singularly graceless, unevocative, and unpleasant to look at or spell.

Man, that title. I feel like this game will be a dud. An experiment that doesn't pay off.

I spent some time with the demo, and I'm loving it. This is the AC Odyssey sequel I didn't know I wanted, not Valhalla. I actually like the obviousness of the puzzle Clock mentioned, but I don't want to judge the whole game based on the introductory area. I suspect things may be more subtle as the game progresses.

I love that it's big and colorful and a little silly. I'm hoping the conversation between Zeus and Prometheus is setting the tone for the rest of the game, because if so, I would love to play a light-hearted romp like that.

The bit with the roosters was really funny.

What platform should I get this for? I have a switch, Xbox and ps4.

I know that the switch version looks worse but I do love the portability.

Hard choice.... How bad does it look on the Switch?

It isn’t terrible, in fact if I didn’t see the other versions I would be ok with it but it is noticeable. I am kind of assuming the Xbox series x will look as good as the ps5 version.

A different question - does anyone know when review embargo lifts? I can always just wait until they tell me how good/bad each version is

According to this site: 9 AM PT Monday, November 30.

This also seems like the Ubisoft game that will go on sale for 25% off in the first month or two, so I’m likely gonna wait for a discount with everything on my plate.

Well, I was being stupid... I have no plans of gettng a PS5 or xbox series x anytime soon. So switch for me

Had no idea this was also coming to PS4. Are there any PS5 exclusives out yet?

I think the demon souls remake and Astro’s playroom are the only ones.

I’m very curious about this game. For some reason I’m drawn to it and have high hopes but I don’t know much about it. I saw ubi let streamers start streaming it. It’s odd that Ubisoft is releasing 3 open world games less than a month apart. AC Valhalla has sold really well. I wonder if Immortals will get lost between that and cyberpunk.

ACG really liked the game. Said it was the best game Ubisoft released this year.

It seems like Ubisoft did the game a disservice by launching it with-in a month of both Watch Dogs and Assassin's Creed. Seems smarter to put it in the February-March window where Far Cry games often go.
I really want to play it, but I'm 60 hours into AC and don't think I'm near the end and Cyberpunk is coming soon.

A buy on sale for me. Looks fun. A little bit of a Dragon’s Dogma vibe.
