I'll give it a couple more hours, and if no one guesses it, I'll tell you.

Okay, it's been four hours instead of two (I got distracted), so here's the answer:

The name is somewhere in here!

Based on nothing more than reading the screen then is it SquareLogic?

Everyday Genius: SquareLogic is the full name. It's really good. Been a decade since I played it, should probably fire it up.

Looks like you're up bbk1980 !

Thanks for the reminder! I'll go for another classic in my mind but I have no idea how widely played this was:

Pfff easiest one ever. That's Accolade's ill-fated attempt to combine hollywood star power with edutainment, "John Houseman Teaches Defensive Driving".

Police Quest 3? 4?

Why, because you know that cats are for the bomb?

Ok I’ll give it till this evening before putting you all out of your misery! The car racing screenshot is more representative of actual gameplay but you did get the questions in between each race.

Well the game in question is Supercars 2. I never played Supercars 1 but the sequel was a firm favourite in our house. The main game was top down driving game with various weapons, you had to buy the weapons between rounds and could add or subtract cash based on your performance in interviews with sponsors or examiners etc.

Here's one that everyone will instantly get:

I think you and Mario keep hitting on European games that is Americans simply weren't exposed to.

Indeed especially in the early days of my gaming which were Amstrad and Amiga. You forget how many of those games were home programmed and released only in local markets. Did Amstrads even make it to the U.S?

You are probably right. When I was in middle and high school in the late 80s and early 90s and the Internet did not exist, you just knew what was popular in your country (Spain, in my case), and that was about it. Now it is easier to know what's a global phenomenon and what isn't, but back then? If it was popular in Spain, then you thought it was popular everywhere, haha. My wife and I have variations of that conversation often: "Was that song popular here in the US?" "How about this show?" "Was this band/singer/movie ever big in Spain?" You should be thankful I've steered clear of obscure titles by Spanish developers from the early 90s!
