Demon's Souls Remake Catch-All

Pages

I can't find the Demon's Souls catch-all for PS3.

Anyone else playing this now on PS5?

Also, what are the icons beneath the healthbar? And that Symbol on the left. How can I tell how difficult the world is from what that shows? It changes every time my character dies.

Not playing this since getting a ps5 at this point seems like a pipe dream with availability.

If I remember correctly the eye icon gets lighter or darker based on your actions so you know world and character tendancy. The other icons are likely status effects I don't recognize either but demons souls had a bunch of different ones that looked crazy. Looks like you have possible faith up and maybe stamina recovery or something. I'd check your gear. World tendancy may also be giving you some kind of positive bonus. Looks like you are on white tendancy.

I am indeed playing this. Had it crash to black screen on loading once, but generally it's been pretty smooth.

I'm still awful at it, and they've patched out the item dup (which I didn't know about in the PS3 era!) and the red-eyed knight pathing glitch I previously abused to kill that guy for some early easy levels (I did eventually deliver unto him a death by mail-breaker backstabs).

Still, it's a gorgeous remake. And it's been long enough that while I remember some aspects of the game, there are plenty of parts to the level geometry of which I have no recollection. Learning enemy patterns and habits alllll over again.

Cannot believe I just one shotted Armored Spider. That was intense.

Nice job! I've not fought him yet, though I think I was right outside the tunnel. I've been exploring the early areas for the zones, just trying to pick up some of the gear you can get without too much trouble. The enemies in 4-1 are worth a LOT more souls than the stuff in 1-1, 1-2, so that can be handy for grinding out a few levels early on (in order to raise stats to use some equipment).

I started as a Royal, so MP regen ring and Soul Arrow ahoy! I am not above cheaping enemies whenever possible.

It's been interesting, I have an ingrained memory of being absolutely terrified of those black skeletons, but they've been pretty much a non-event this time. Not sure if it's just that I've played a LOT more soulsborne games since then, or if there's something different about the way they're acting.

Demon's Souls (2020) - Easy Allies Review

I still hate the tower of latria. That is all.

Those manta rays are the worse. I wish I started out with Royal. Those spells look really cool

My PS5 is out for delivery as we speak, so I look forward to getting involved with this tonight. Loved it on PS3, and it will be really fun to see how much different it feels with the added experience of having played three Dark Souls games, Bloodborne, and Sekiro.

I just beat the 5-1 Boss it seems like the bosses are getting easier. It would be amazing if all the souls games got the next gen treatment.

I would kill for a similar remake of Dark Souls. 2 SotFS and 3 too, sure, but mostly 1. Holy hell.

The more things change the more they stay the same.

Rolled Hunter and played through beating the Phalanx, chattin' with the Monumental, and levelling up before I had to leave for work.

I'm definitely better at parrying now than I was on PS3, that's for sure.

Aren't we all? Thanks, Bloodborne.

I would much rather have a remake of Bloodborne than DS 1,2 or even 3.. I've played those so much at this point that unless it was a remake with all 3 in there at $75 I wouldnt be that interested... the upside is if they did do DS1-3 it would be cross platform so I would probably get it just for the PC version.

I'm tagging in here even though I don't have a PS5 yet. (sigh.)

As someone who got on the Souls train late (Bloodborne) I'm deeply interested in this game both as a remake of a something that has basically become a genre genesis and as a thing in it of itself.

Bloodborne is already one of the prettier ones. Dark Souls 1 remake would be nice. Though, as much as I like these games, other than Demons Souls, and maybe DS1, none of them really need a remake that much.
Bloodborne mostly needs a patch that makes it run better on PS5 imo, at 60 fps etc.

Also, I want to play Demons Souls! :/ Wonder when I'll get a PS5. Even if they were in stock, I refuse to pay the current over-the-top price.

I'm a temple knight and damn Flamelurker keeps kicking my butt. I don't have any magic damage. So much for bosses getting easier.

Dark Souls 1 already got the HD treatment

Yeah, but Dark Souls 1 with the full ray-traced global illumination, HDR, rebuilt from the ground up treatment would be absolutely amazing.

Not that Demon's Souls has ray-traced global illumination, but it's a launch game. I'm sure they could do more with Dark Souls...

Luck-Based PS5 Demon’s Souls Glitch Lets You One-Shot Every Boss

Demon’s Souls players have found a new glitch in the PlayStation 5 remake that allows them to deal incredible damage, enough to one-shot every enemy and boss in the game. Funnily enough, it doesn’t revolve around any of the more common damage-dealing stats, like Strength or Dexterity, but rather Luck.

In the video below, Souls content creator ymfah walks through all the steps you’ll need to follow to avail yourself of this glitch. This involves a modest amount of planning, from obtaining the materials necessary for crafting the Luck-based weapon known as the Blueblood Sword to raising Strength, Dexterity, Magic, and Faith to at least 18 in order to effectively wield it.

Which barely counts as a remaster tbh. More like a side-grade.
But certainly no remake.

Bloodborne is closer to a remake than any other Souls besides DeS. Sony owns the rights. I'll be happy with any of them getting this remake treatment by Bluepoint. What a wonderful job they did.

This remake has me somehow even more excited about Elden Ring.

It's so good I've been thinking about it all day while at work. I have Miles, AC:V, Watch Dogs, Bugsnax, and the rest of Astro I could be playing, but nah I want to play this old-ass game I've already played through multiple times instead.

I hope so too. Because Bluepoint rocked this out of the park.

So technically this game is brilliant but as I get through it more (about 2/3rds done) you can tell this was the first game in the Soulsborne series. The Boss fights are pretty lame, the level design is really uneven (Tower of Latria is really good others are not so much). Many levels are surprisingly small.

The world tendency is really cool but difficult to get pure white because of the limits around what actions boost white. I was trying to help people beat Maneater the past couple nights to move to white and kept getting summoned for the old monk fight as the “boss” and each time I won it appears to have moved my character to black (I’m now just standing there so I don’t do that anymore) but there doesn’t seem to be a way to stop it from happening.

The upgrade paths are very uneven as well. It seems that some Pure rocks are relatively plentiful (given time to farm) and others limited. For example there appears to be just two ways to get a Pure Clearstone (and I screwed one of them up already).

I changed my mind as well. We do need a true Dark Souls redo with this engine.

Sorry if I'm trodding over already covered ground for you, but are you deliberately dying in the Nexus whenever you are restored to human form, rather than in each world? Dying while in human form outside of the Nexus is, as I recall, the biggest impact toward BWT of any action.

Back in the day when I was trying to trigger WWT events, I'd never go into any world in anything but soul form.

Yes anytime I’m restored I jump off the highest point in the nexus.

I play Souls games for the exploration and the creative multiplayer aspects, so easier bosses are a-ok with me!

Side note, when people talk about how those of us on this site are enthusiasts, with tons of knowledge about the gaming world that the average casual gamer doesn't have, it is true. I would think everyone on Earth would have heard about the invasion mechanic by now, but they have not.

Whenever I meet a new young person at work and find out they game, I tell them about the invasion mechanic - and they are floored. I love it!

The bosses in this game do seem a bit easy in NG ... esp. if you have a good bow.

Flamelurker in NG+ if your build has medium to low health is a pretty tough fight.

I play for the exploration as well. Best part of the game by far. The bosses, I can do without.
