NBA Playoffs Thread!

I can't be the only one watching this this year. What are the odds on it finishing before the NFL season starts?

Denver's win was the only surprise, but if Houston, Philly and Indiana can all win, i'll be happy going into the next round. Too bad NJ's screw-ew-ew-ew-ed.

Also, the very idea of the 2007 All-Star game being in Las Vegas fills me with glee.

Go Pistons!

Seriously, they''re a much better team than the Sixers. No offense to AI or anything, but you can''t carry a team. If the Pistons continue to play consisently, and we can have one of our better players have a 20+ point game (I think there are 5+ players with that capability on the squad) I think they''ll beat the sixers in... I''m gonna go with 5 games.

So, Nash wins the MVP, some idiots cry ""Race Card"". Christ. I''ve heard good arguments for at least four or five players to win the MVP (Nash, Amare Stoudamire, Shaq, LeBron, Dwayne Wade). It was a toss up and Nash deservedly won.

Boston lost. That makes me smile. But it sets up a Detroit-Indy series which makes me feel a little queasy. Thankfully, Artest won''t be playing.

Van Gundy backed off his comments, which is sad. I liked watching David Stern pull out the old Don Vito act.

I''d just like to say for now, that short of a miracle, Phil Jackson won''t be coaching in NY, but i''ll loathe him if he capitulates to that schmuck Kobe and goes back to LA.

My Predictions:

Dallas v. Phoenix - Phoenix in six.
San Antonio v. Seattle - San Antonio in five.

Indiana v. Detroit - Detroit in seven.
Miami v. Washington - Miami in four.

Also, someone shut up Skip Bayless for christ''s sake.

I know that we don''t really have a chance against San Antonio, but go Sonics!

Indiana v. Detroit - Detroit in seven.

Seven? Pah. If it goes past 5, I''ll be surprised.

Go Nash! He is the only thing I like about basketball since my Grizzlies left. Plus, he''s from the same city as me.

It was a toss up and Nash deservedly won.

Here is the thing. It wasn''t a toss up.

In the off season many thought Nash was overpayed free agent going to a horrible team with decent potential.

He shot 50%, lead the league in assists and nearly single handedly helped improve the Suns by 33 wins, make them a true Championship contender and give them the best record in the NBA. He had the biggest impact of any player in the league and its measurable. When Nash was injured the Suns stunk.

Though there are better choices Shaq was the only other real contender because of popularity. Shaq had nearly exactly the same numbers as he did last year while his counterpart Dwayne Wayne excelled. Shaq helped The Heat a team already on the road to bigger and better things become an immediate true Championship contender. When Shaq was injured the Heat played well enough.

*RISE FROM YOUR GRAVE*

Game 5 was freaking awesome. I don't care what anyone says. Also, I will forever call Big Shot Bob "Nate Dogg" from now on. I'm actually looking forward to game six and next year, when hopefully more teams will understand that the way the Suns and Spurs play is a good thing.

Addendum:

Dear Isiah Thomas -
A new coach isn't the answer. Not leaving the team capped the hell out all the time is the answer. Perhaps killing Allen Houston.

I fear for my Pistons tonight...

But I'll be rooting them on just like every game.

It's really neat actually being IN San Antonio (while not being a local that's used to it) while all this is going on. The fan support of the Spurs here is pretty awesome. It's not like LA, where the city's so big and there's so much other stuff. Here, Spurs gear is being sold out of damn near every store, downtown or further out.

I really hope San Antonio wins tonight, because I won't be in town when a Game 7 would be played.

Sounds like Vancouver when the Canucks have made the playoffs. The whole city goes crazy. When the Canucks start to lose everyone turns on them, I don't like most Vancouver fans.

GO PISTONS!

Great game, Pistons shot the best from the floor they have all playoffs, and they won against a Spurs that looked pretty good (not spot-on, but not as bad as game 4).

Game 7, here we come...

Lots of sad faces and drooping foam fingers in San Antonio tonight...
