Xbox Game Pass for Console, PC, and Android

The main problem is that EA has been freaking godawful at making Star Wars games.

Good news! If Fallen Order is any indication, they've graduated from godawful to simply mediocre.

I’m mildly curious to try Battlefield 5

I haven't bought a Battlefield game since I basically stopped PC gaming, but with EA Play, I'm willing to try it, and for sure would find it cool for there to be a GWJ Battlefield renaissance. Are those games crossplay yet?

Man, Battlefield nights with GWJ used to be appointment gaming. Wonderful times.

Also very interested in Jedi Fallen Order if it hits EA Play. Being that it drew comparisons to Metroid and Dark Souls, two of my absolute favorite series, I need to try it.

Are the 10hr that give to EA play members of premium games gonna be available via gamepass??.... looking at you Squadrons.......

I don't see why not. It's my understanding that Game Pass members will be getting full access to all aspects of EA Play.

But it's worth pointing out that EA has backed off that 10 hour trial promise quite a bit. They'd originally offered that for all their games, but they've since back pedaled to "select games".

However, I did just check my EA Play hub, and Squadrons does actually have a trial. So you're in luck!

The Unravel games are charming, and Rocket Arena looks fun (I haven't played it; it might be trash; Anthem also looked fun), but in general, you're right that there's not much new coming to EA Play that's not Star Wars or Sports Wars. I see most of the value of EA Play coming from the back catalog, especially that sweet spot from about 2008 to 2016 when they were branching out and experimenting with new ideas and franchises.

I looked at some older games I haven't played. They all seem petty grimdark. Opinions anyone?

Shadow of the Damned
Dante's Inferno
Alice: Madness Returns

I remember liking Shadows of the Damned. It lacked polish and was very over the top and juvenile, but it was unique and was generally successful at what it was trying to do. I'm not sure how well the Resident evil 4 style 3rd person shooter controls would hold up today.

What Mogg said - Shadows of the Damned is a tight-as-a-drum action game with all the charm of a greasy 13 year old boy.

I'm looking forward to trying knights and Bikes today!

Giving another shout-out to Deep Rock Galactic. Get your Dwarf on, people. There's ore to be mined.

Is that a game that requires coop to be enjoyed? Too bad there is no cross-platform multiplayer with the Steam version. I know a few people who play it on Steam still.

The Comanche game just added to PC seems like it's multiplayer focused. I wonder how dead the player base is.

DRG doesn't require co-op; if you play single player, you get Bosco, a little floating robot companion who is in all honesty better than most co-op partners. Still very enjoyable, but definitely shines a bit more with other players.

Why is there a game for an aircraft that never reached production and was cancelled over 15 years ago?

You've clearly never played an Ace Combat game. Wikipedia's list of fictional aircraft is ripe with links to the various Ace Combats.

Better answer - because it was cheaper to license the Comanche than the Apache.

I’ll try it coop with my son. He likes Minecraft and Halo and anything coop with dad so maybe this will combine all 3.

FYI, need two boxes for it; no local split-screen co-op, Xbox Live only.

Will the EA Play stuff show up as normal on the app, or are there extra steps to access them?

Yup. Thankfully I have a few options there.

I just found out that it's still in Early Access, so expect dead servers and a lot of jank, I guess. Steam reviews aren't super kind to it, but I'll take it out for a spin before I uninstall it.

That's the second game in as many months that I've expected "in the next couple weeks" that was announced a few days later.

Any requests?

I would assume that it'll be like if you're concurrently subscribed to both services right now. Under the Libraries tab on the My Games & Apps screen, EA Play will be an additional library alongside Game Pass, Games with Gold, and your purchases. That's the easiest way to access them.

There's also an EA Play app for managing installations and such, but it's painfully slow or at least was last I tried it.

I assume it’s the same game download regardless of how I get to it so I’ve been pre-downloading some EA games from the store so I can play as soon as we get EA Play through Game Pass.

I decided to try the first campaign level and didn’t make it all the way through before I decided to stop and delete the game. Not sure how compelling multiplayer is but I didn’t like the flight model in campaign so I doubt I’ll like it in multiplayer either and I’m not looking for a new multiplayer game right now anyways.

Demon's Souls.

Yup, that's my experience. Going to pull the HOTAS out and see if it's less squirly without a controller, but I suspect it'll still be a pass.

Ooh! Good idea, and actually doable!

Squadrons, as a bit of a live service game, battlepass and all, would be a good one to open up to a larger population.
