This seems to happen when there are no nearby higher elevations to glide down from, which makes me think I am missing some mechanic that would allow me to jump higher or climb. None of the characters I've pulled seem to have any abilities like that, tho.
So, have you encountered the world puzzle type where you collect a few little wind bugs and then they create updrafts? Every time I've found something I couldn't climb, glide, or otherwise reach, there has been a nearby puzzle to unlock access in some form or another, but the easiest to miss for sure have been those little wind bugs since they are small and almost look like ambient decoration until you run into them and pick them up.
That said, I've also been able to just cheat on a few using Venti's air gust, but you need to have had silly good gacha luck to have that option.

Spoiler:if you're already collecting geoculus items and are at AR 25 I'm guessing you've tried the earth attuned version of the Traveller, right? Not that I've found a ton of places where it would be required, but I'm assuming there will be puzzles that expect you to use the platform creation ability you get as your main elemental attack in earth form.
Just to add on to what Zero said, when you get to the second Statue of the 7 (the one next to the big tree), there’s an area right on the other side of the water that surrounds it that has 3 of those bugs. I apparently wasn’t paying attention too much when I found them the first time on mobile, but my second time playing through on PS4, I realized Paimon makes a comment about their wind column creation properties.
Discovered mechanic (not story) spoiler:
Basically, if you run over to one, it will follow you. Run to the second to add it to your entourage and then over to the first. As soon as you bring them all together, they merge and create a wind column for you.
I don’t think it shows you a tutorial pop-up when this happens. So, until you find the bugs and if you’re not paying attention, it can be easily missed.

Ah. Ah, I see.
Yeah, all of them were in the southern region. I'd seen a few things with pressure plates that needed more than one person, but I'd worked around those with Amber and her bunny doll! I had not switched the Traveler back to Geo attuned after the initial one, because I like using the air attack on camps.
That is what I am missing. I knew there had to be some basic thing I was not seeing, because surely they couldn't hide in-game items behind things that could only be solved by some characters acquired through random luck!
Yeah, I mean that's totally understandable --
even though the earth mode is a fun, creative alternative, and potentially good in certain contexts, in general the wind mode is stronger and more versatile.
Started this yesterday. Damn, it is pretty good. Both excelling at exploration and what seems to be a combat system with potential.
So what's the word? Anyone still playing? Anyone give multiplayer a try?
Been grinding out gems for summons most this last weekend. Still having fun, but it takes me forever to get anything done... I keep getting distracted by, well, everything!

I'm still playing. AR 33 and working my way through the post game bonus stories.
Mostly just keeping up with the resin regen and dailies. Once upon a time I'd have been frustrated at the limitation, but these days it's about all I have time for.
I haven't tried multiplayer, but I'd be down to give it a try sometime. I noticed there are some achievements for mp kills.

AR 37 and taking a break until the December update. I'll jump in for dailies if I find small amounts of time to do so, but I finished the main story content, so I'm going back to my pile.
I'm AR 35(+1.5 lvls) because I haven't done the 2nd ascension quest. My characters and items aren't really ready for bumping the world rank, I don't think.
I've got a few story /world quest bits to follow up on, and I need to go collect all the remaining geoculus, but the shine has worn down a bit. I did a couple more 10x pulls from free gems I'd collected, and they were all items... and nothing I needed. I had one give me 6 (more) slingshots. Yeesh.
Been taking a break. Only AR23 I think.
It is still pretty damn good though. But the extreme grind is already showing its ugly face. Got plenty of story/quest stuff left though, so the grind is easy to ignore. It just sounds like you will only regret it more and more later on, if you skip the daily grind.
Yup, I've been playing quite a bit over the last few weeks, although I'm running low on content other than grinding mats for leveling right now. I've reached AR39, done all of the available story quests, explored nearly everything available so far, and built a solid collection of characters and weapons in the level 50 to 70 range.
Very much looking forward to having more story quests show up in next week's patch, though, and even moreso to December's patch bringing more open world content -- although folks expecting it to be the next full area (Inazuma) might want to temper their expectations, since they've explicitly said it will be Dragonspine, the small map chunk that contains the big mountain between Mondstadt and Liyue. I suspect it will be a cool addition, but limited in scope.
Honestly, I'm not too bothered by the resin grind myself since I've got a giant backlog of other games to play as well as two other "forever games" that I'm on and off with right now (Destiny and FF14), but I totally get the frustration of people interested in playing more heavily in the gap between patches here, and I completely agree that the system needs more tweaks than just the cap increase coming in next week's patch (although that will help to some extent for sure).
As for multiplayer, I did do the "elemental crucible" event (which matchmade with random people) while it was active, but other than that I haven't really tried. Seems fun that it's available everywhere in the game, but it's not terribly incentivized (outside of being a way to get around respawn timers when farming resources) so I haven't tried that much. That said, I'm usually logged into Discord when I play if folks want to give it a try.
I've fallen off of this for now in large part because my schedule doesn't really accommodate it at this point. The amount of time I had available to play each day was just enough to do the daily content but not enough to ever progress any of the storylines. I also got burned out on just how many endless (or effectively endless) games I was playing, and they all fell by the wayside.
This is a good game, and I enjoyed my time with it, and I'm happy with the money I spent on it. But I'm not sure when I'll come back to it or if I even will.
If anybody wants to try some multiplayer, my UID is 609376208.
I'd probably run bennett for the buffs.
So you guys having a good time with it? No bugs or anything weird with the ps4?
My UID is 606870211 - I've only just hit AR 15 and am going slow, playing with my daughter.
Has anyone here actually gotten a 5-star character (or weapon) yet? I certainly have not, and it's quite annoying, but I'm still able to stay afloat using 2 characters as my main upgrading targets.
That said, those random moments you find a sitting point and a nice music track loads is great.
here's a few places I've found:

I've got Venti and Keqing, but no weapons.
I'm pretty sure I got Venti as a pity roll, but Keqing was definitely a luck roll (although certainly not as lucky as some shots I've seen, with people getting two, three, or even four 5 star hits in a single ten pull or whatever).
That said, while both are great (and it's kind of absurd how useful Venti is both in and out of combat), 5 star characters are definitely not required to make a great team, nor are 5 star weapons to make a great character. Many will absolutely give a nice edge when used properly, but it's way, way more important to just pair the characters and weapons you have well and make smart choices about what upgrades you invest your resources into.
That's actually a great deal of what's been exciting to me about the game after finishing all the story content and exploring everything that's currently available -- it presents really fun and interesting resource and build optimization puzzles. Thanks to the random nature of what you have access to there's never an obvious, perfect choice, but there's tons of room to make a smart creative choices that involve a mixture of planning and gameplay execution that can provide fun and exciting results.
Anyway, I'm far from an expert, but if people have questions I'm happy to try to share the results of the silly amount of time I've spent learning about the game's mechanics and how to make the most of what you have within them.
EDIT:
Oh, and aside from the shots I posted on the last page, my full album is here:
There's a decent amount of story spoilers in there, but here a few more safe highlights.
Oh I just downloaded this game after watching a review on it. Never played a gotcha game. Every time I hear gotcha I think of the movie.

Good news! It's not gotcha. It's gacha.
...
Although, gotcha feels more accurate.
I have a five-star weapon but no characters. I don't feel like I need that weapon, but it's easily better than anything else I have. I've been told that some four-star weapons are better than five-stars when they've been refined a few times, but I haven't gotten enough duplicates of four-star weapons in that category to do a side-by-side.
I feel like I'm fortunate to have gotten a fancy pants weapon that can be used by my favorite character. I'd have been pretty disappointed if I'd pulled a five-star weapon for someone I didn't like.

Heck, even with zero refinement, a four star with stats and special effects well suited to your character character is going to be way more useful than a five star that doesn't pair well. That said, five star weapons will scale their stats better, which will get particularly noticeable as you reach higher levels, so if the stats and special effects on your five star are even remotely applicable to your character, eventually there will probably be a point where the curves cross over.
But yeah, as you add refinement levels, a four star weapon with a good special effect can start to be VERY appealing (including a number of the craftable weapons which are likely to be the easiest to get dupes of for refinement), so yeah, lots to think about even when you do have rare equipment available.
Damn... i guess i will give in and finally play it myself. I had a blank screen when my son was playing it.. and im a bit skeptical about this developer

Oh make no mistake, the monetization model is predatory trash and I would be ok if someone said they did not want to play purely based on that. I even saw a guy on YT who was making content for the game basically say he was sorry he had spent the thousands of $ he had on the game and switched to a new account and went entirely F2P.
I've enjoyed the game enough to contemplate throwing in money, but I cannot justify giving them money with the random rates they give at 0.5% chance of a random 5 star drop.
Well I just discovered that it IS worth popping into the Shop menu even if you're avowedly F2P, as you can trade your stardust for wishes.
Yeah, definitely, you can even buy some characters in there, though they cost a lot of resources (and boy, do the game has a ton of different currencies to confuse customers)
I wouldnt actually mind paying them a little money. But there is no way Ill give them my credit card. And there is no paypal support.

If you're playing on PC, you can log in to your account on your mobile devices and make purchases a bit more safely with Apple or Google playing the middle man protecting your credit card. As I mentioned earlier, I was enjoying the game enough that I wanted to pay them what I normally would for a single player game, and that's the route I took to avoid sending my card number overseas, etc.
For PS4 players, I assume you're just buying via your PSN account anyway, which is already a similar situation.
* Edit: And yes, the very nature of a gacha game is SUPER predatory. Be very careful playing this game (or just don't) if you've got impulse control issues or tendencies towards gambling addition. The gacha system does have "pity" mechanics that will eventually guarantee that you'll get rare items, and which you can see as another resource management puzzle if you're NOT buying currency, but if anything the pity mechanics are only going to drive you to spend more if you've opened the valve and decided to try to hunt something specific.
Yeah, I'm on PC. Guess I could look into the mobile phone solution. Not exactly elegant though.
Ah, somehow missed that there was a friend feature!

Not sure if you'll catch me on much at this point until probably December, but there it is.
So what's the word? Anyone still playing? Anyone give multiplayer a try?
Yes! Hi! Me!
I have been pretty hooked on this since I started playing. I just hit AR 37 last week, and I've still yet to start any of the major quest lines in Liyue, so plenty to look forward to still. For anyone still in Mondstadt thinking they've pretty much seen everything the game has to offer, I'd highly encourage you to keep playing until you have a chance to explore some of Liyue. It is a far more expansive and interesting area of the game with huge mountainous terrain to traverse and many more environmental puzzles spread about.
I've really grown to love the combat system, particularly the interplay between the various party members and elemental reactions. I especially love the inclusion of the elemental resonance mechanic, meaning you are actively rewarded for including duplicate elements into your party.
My only real regret is not re-rolling a few times for a 5-star character early on. I wasn't anticipating that I would end up enjoying this as much as I have. I want a Venti! I now have about 70 rolls saved for a 5-star, but Klee doesn't hold much appeal to me, so I'm crossing my fingers for a more tempting rate-up banner on the refresh.
On that note, I've done quite a bit of research into all the various currencies of the game, and I'm absolutely baffled by how much money it costs to buy pulls in this game. $30 for 12 pulls? It's absurd. If you want to spend any money in this game, the ONLY option that is somewhat reasonable is the Blessing of the Welkin Moon. That gives you the equivalent of 18.75 pulls for $5, which is a waaaaay better value than everything else available. The catch is that you receive the currency in 90 primogem/day increments, and you have to log in each day to collect them, so it only works if you are planning to play regularly and have the patience to wait for the primos to roll in. I plan to stick with this one for a while and have no problem waiting, so I purchased a couple blessings to sustain me for now.
The only other purchase worth considering is the battle pass, which is also only really worth it if you plan to stick with the game for a while. It is also not at all worth it in terms of pulls, but it does shower you in valuable materials to level your characters and weapons which could take you days or weeks to farm otherwise. I would probably only consider this if you get close to maxing it out at 50. That's not terribly difficult to do for a regular player if you've been playing since launch, but for anyone that started recently, I would wait until the next battle pass comes up in a week.
What's everybody using for their main teams? This is my primary crew for now:
Fischl is my main dps source at the moment:
I managed to pull a couple copies of her in my first 30 pulls, and her first constellation gives her a huge boost in auto attack damage, so she has been doing very well for me. I just need to find a better bow for her. I'm using an R5 Slingshot for now, but I'm starting to feel the lack of oomph that a 4 star bow would likely add.
I'm leveling Xiangling as a a second carry so that I can start to tackle some of the duo team Spiral Abyss stages.
My UID is 603859900. The coop stuff isn't super interesting, but it could be fun to team up for some events if anyone else here is doing them.
On that note, I've done quite a bit of research into all the various currencies of the game, and I'm absolutely baffled by how much money it costs to buy pulls in this game. $30 for 12 pulls? It's absurd.
Yeah, it's pretty silly. For what it's worth, though, for folks interested in spending like they would for a single player game, the first time you buy currency at a given price level, you actually get double the listed amount (indicated as a "bonus"), which is slightly less terrible, but yeah, the Blessing thing and the Battle Pass are definitely the best choices for folks interested in giving them a modest amount of money.
What's everybody using for their main teams?
My primary adventuring team is Keqing, Xiangling, Chongyun, and Venti -- together, they are capable of tackling any open world challenge other than those that specifically require the Geo Traveler's ability.
Combat wise though, it's not really an ideal combo, but it's good enough for what is found in the open world, where having a wide elemental spread is often more useful than perfect ability synergy. But yeah, Keqing and Chongyun are both best suited to being main carries, and using Chongyun as a support in this configuration isn't the most ideal since his basic skill turns auto attacks to ice damage which messes with my lightning focused build on Keqing (and neither of them can really take advantage of the physical damage buff that comes from the ice/lightning superconductor reaction).
But, you make do with the best you have, and overall Chongyun seemed like a better choice to build for ice than Kaeya since you really want to have a solid claymore user for a lot of situations, and he's my best claymore choice. My only other choice for that is Beidou, who is pretty great too, but since I have Keqing as a main carry it didn't make sense to build a second lightning focused character who can't really fill a support role very well.
When it's time to specifically hunt down mineable items, I switch over to something like this, with Ningguang added in to get minerals marked on the mini map.
In this situation, Chongyun is promoted to main carry and rock breaking duty (although Ningguang is pretty solid in both of those roles too), and Keqing sits out since mining is still an open world exploration activity and having fire and wind in the party is often most useful for that. Getting a second wind in here might be nice for the added run speed, but whatever.
My spiral abyss teams are currently various permutations of these two, depending on the enemy sets on each given floor:
It's still a bit shaky at the higher levels, though, since Barbara and Fishl are still fairly low level. Also, the combo of light healing from Xingqiu and shields from Ningguang works in some situations but isn't quite functional enough in others.
I did just pick up Bennett from the stardust store though, so I might try to level him up a bit to sub into those setups in places (probably mostly for Ningguang, replacing shields for more healing), but that's a big resource investment so I probably won't go too heavy on that until I see what I pull with the gems I've been saving up from the new banner coming next week.
