NFL 2020: Week 7

Well great win for the Niners, next up they have to play every good NFC team in a row, and then Buffalo after that.

And now Baker throws touchdown #5, though to be fair, one incompletion did sneak in there.

All after OBJ left with an injury. Hmm.

This game and recent history isn't helping the BB vs TB debate..... Not that TB has been playing otherworldly but he has been playing as well, or better, than any other QB at his age.

In what world does the ARI catchphrase of THE RED SEA make sense?

Everytime I see it I think of SEA, their division competition. And I always scratch my head at the cognitive dissonance of Phoenix and water (let alone as much water found in an ocean).

It'd be like the Seahawks having a catchphrase that referenced faithful, gold, Los Angeles or the desert.

I know the New York Giants haven't looked hot this season, but jeez:

Yeah next 6 opponents currently with 2 loses or less. WTF.

Well there's also no removing 19 years of Belichick-directed development from Tom Brady. The idea that the Brady on the field in 2020 is free and clear of being Belichick handiwork just because he's not on Belichick's team right now is flawed. (I'll grant that he's showing he can transfer his skill set into another, non-BB system, but NE ran so many different offensive styles over the years that this isn't a surprise really.)

I'm also not going to look too negatively on the struggles of NE without Brady just yet. The team was ravaged by COVID opt-outs and the true "next Belichick QB" isn't on the roster yet. Cam was obviously a low cost spot filler (and there should be little question now why the rest of the NFL valued him so lowly too). Nothing BB has done suggests he sees Stidham as a starter.

When Belichick gets his hands on a QB he obviously likes, at least on the level that he liked Garoppolo, then I'll judge his post-Brady QB development.

If the Cardinals actually played that at home games vs the Rams, my respect for them would increase significantly.

Wow Metcalfe.

That was amazing.

DK Metcalf gonna track you down!

Oh come on Arizona. Ice your own kicker WTF

As amazing as Russ played in the first half, he's been not good here after halftime. Yikes.

Dave doesn't even need to do normal comics anymore. The weekly picks comics are the highlight of the strip.

Arians: If Antonio Brown Complains About Touches 'We're Going to Have a Problem'

I see things are starting off on a good foot.

To be clear, Arians is speaking in the hypothetical at this point, but he is so damn on guard that you have to wonder just how much nonsense Tomlin and the Steelers kept under wraps, and how far back it went. Arians left the Steelers after 2011! He was only there for AB's first 2 years in the league.

Arians reportedly really didn't want to sign him, and this is starting to feel like some classic passive-aggressive maneuvering where Arians is going to do enough little things to piss AB off to where he can cut him as soon as possible.

The only even remotely good outcome is that this leaves Antonio Brown even more miserable than before.

I'd also settle for imploding the Bucs season!

What, you think AB is just gonna implode over some perceived slights by management?

What gave you that kind of cracker idea?

Belichick is sticking with Cam Newton as the starter for week 8. Just in case there was any lingering doubt that he really does not see Stidham as anything but a backup.

OBJ is indeed done for the season. The chemistry was never quite there with Baker, so should be interesting to see that happens.

On the plus side, OBJ now has more free time for, you know... activities.

"We miss Mike Nolan", said no 49er fan ever.

I'm pretty sure the McCarthy/Nolan regime in Dallas is just a joke by the football gods for the amusement of Packers and Niners fans.

Nolan inherited the 11th ranked scoring defense (9th in yardage) and has dropped them to 32nd and 27th, respectively.

A year ago, Quinnen Williams was debated as a possible top defensive draft pick ahead of Nick Bosa (and possibly a #1 overall pick until the Cardinals honed in on Kyler Murray).

Now, the Jets reportedly have him on the trade block.

While he hasn't become an Aaron Donald-like pass rusher, he grades very high in run stop metrics, and he has found his way to a couple sacks of late.

If I'm the Jags, I make a competitive offer. Not only do I desperately need run D and have a bunch of draft picks, but I also have Quinnen's brother Quincy on my roster.

Maybe they shouldn't draft DL guys with the last name Williams anymore.

Leonard Williams is grading out pretty good with the Giants so far this year. Maybe it's just the Jets that are a problem. There Can Be Only One Williams, and it must be Greggggggg.

You know, if there's one thing the Jags are going to do this year based on what they've shown, it's trade *for* a good player. Seems highly plausible.

They can do it! It just takes finding a team that's dumber than them.

I present to you... the New York Jets.
