Elite Dangerous Catch-All

Oy, that's rough tanstaafl. I apparently live dangerously with limpets, since when I'm done with them I usually just close the cargo scoop and blast away.

Your third incident is why I usually fight in a Hazardous RES instead of the Hi-RES: no accidental hits on the local authorities. I'll sometimes go to a CNB for the same reason. Just make sure you don't have any cargo or you'll find yourself to be everyone's target.

If your limpet is idle it's apparently fine. It's just if your limpet still has something that it is trying to deliver that it gets forceful about it.

I've switched back to my main and am just buckyballing it in. Heading for Mbere since it looks like we control a station there. Will dump about 25 MCr in exploration data and 64 tons of Rares from Jacques there. That should give our influence a boost.

The past few weeks have definitely improved Vixens' standing in Orcus. It is about to force an election in Orcus on top of the one going on in Mbere. As of today the Mbere election is being handedly won by Vixens. Next BGS tick I would expect the Mbere election to end and the Orcus one to begin. A win of that second election could mean the gain of another station in Orcus (not Tombaugh but a smaller one) in a week or two's time.

So congratulations for those who joined the effort thus far to fortify the Vixens' influence! It's definitely working.
FYI Tanstaafl if you want a full listing of stations controlled by Vixens where you can cash in on exploration data to affect influence, you can use this page on Inara. Scroll to the bottom.

There's a limit of 10M of data per station daily, right? IIRC beyond that there is no effect on Influence.

Yay more stations

Cool. I'm up to about 50 MCr now, because I can't pass some systems without scanning. Got 10 MCr from a single system.

25 jumps out and stopping for dinner.

Is that 10M per player per station or just 10M per player? I've got some data I should drop off.

That is something that I understand.

I thought that it was 10M per player per station, but in a few minutes of searching I was unable to find any evidence to back that up.

I've always heard the BGS grognards talk about using smaller transactions to maximize your impact on the BGS, but again I can't say for sure whether this is rumor, or something that was true 3 years ago but not now. I really haven't been paying much attention to the forums for the last couple of years.

I used to subscribe to BGS thread on official forums and try to keep up with all that. But so much has changed, I have no idea now.

It's a moot point because I just got blown up leaving a Guardian site.

How did that happen?

And sorry.

Edit: Funny, I just got a message from "Civilian Pilot Gremlin" with one of the standard annoying things that NPCs say.

I have found that it is very useful to have top mounted PDCs when doing guardian stuff. They are very good at destroying guardian drone missiles.

I should really have fully-spec'd my Anaconda before taking it into the danger zone, instead of mostly leaving it in mining configuration.

The problem is that it has really good jump range.

Here's my build, I get 43.5ly right now.

Finally got to Orcus last night. I haven't actually been in the Bubble for almost two years; I never got all the way back home after Distant Worlds 2 and have been hanging around Colonia since then.

Spread my exploration data over the stations the Vixens control, then reconfigured the Krait I'm in from speed to combat. Now I can do those black box missions.

Both elections mentioned are now over. Vixens won the Mbere election which gained us control of Chaffee Survey station. We also won the election in Orcus, which gained us control of Schmidt Terminal. Both of these are pretty small stations, but are significant footholds to making more influence gains going forward.

I'm pretty impressed with the outcome of GWJ Days 2020. We had a great effort by many people to further a common goal, and it shows (charts below). In addition, several of us met up and did some missions together real-time, which was fun.

Two new stations after two elections:

The part of the images where two lines stay equal for a while is where an election is happening. Then one faction wins and the other looses and it's dramatic. Congratulations to everybody who participated! You made a difference.

Very nice.

I've been meaning to login during the week to see the results, but never got around to it.

I'm still hanging around and running missions. I'm now in my FDL, so no one gets those black boxes anymore.

Do you like Halloween? I like Halloween.

Hey Mav - I saw you on my steam list in elite (but AFK) - couldn’t find any evidence of a commander online in the Vixen’s group. I’m Zoso Ryder in game, and would be pleased to link up.

I’m making preparations to visit this Ghost Ship tonight, after kids are in bed and my wife and I have watched Discovery.

I'm sorry I missed you. Real life called. I was on later and found my way to the Geographical Survey location in Musca Dark Region PJ-P B6-1. I'll be there for a bit as there's a lot to see. If you see me, please say hi. I like company.

Here's a forum post about game balance changes coming. TLDR: mining to be worth less, bounty hunting to be worth more. We had that same conversation here a few weeks ago me thinks.

Epic gave away Elite for free. There is an incredible amount of human activity in Hollatja/At Indi.

Helped wing kill 35 pirates with a Sidey last night. Was so enjoyable to talk about the stuff I’ve learned in my time.

Should hop on this weekend folks. Tell me a time!

You know what I want from Elite? Randomly generated life and plants, random ruins, maybe even not just guardian or Thyroid. I would love if I could have the NMS type exploration but in Elite. Exploration, of actually stuff and not just identical planets, is my favorite activity.

I've been slowly scaling the learning cliff. My dogfighting is getting slightly better in that every once in a whole I don't get immediately blown up.

It’s been quite a bit since I played Elite but I’m diving back in. Do we have a GWJ squadron?

Yes, but it might make sense for someone who’s currently active to start a new one. Only Veloxi can add people to the existing one and my understanding is that he has long since moved on to other games.

Unless there’s a way to add a new admin to an existing squadron, maybe?

There's apparently an auto-add option that Veloxi has now turned on.

Thanks for that info! What’s it called?

Search for "Veloxi" and it should come up.
