[News] Post a D&D Picture

Previous incarnations of Cleveland/P&C/D&D have had an image thread, to handle political cartoons and other image-based stuff that doesn't belong in the general post-a-picture threads.

If any of them spawn an extended discussion, please spawn it off into its own thread. Replies to non-picture replies should take the form of a link pointing to a post on a different discussion thread.

And I shouldn't have to say it, but the images still need to abide by the rules.

So will republicans be using this as a reason they are opposed to mail in voting or will they just not metion this example?

That's pretty much exactly what is happening. ABC is airing Biden's town hall live in prime time with voter questions moderated by George Stephanopolus.

They need to have the audience ask Trump questions then cut to a feed of an empty chair for two minutes.

Obama is going to be there?

I like the thought, but really disappointed by the Trump-style 'SAD!' at the end. It's gross and childish no matter who does it. Be kind to our language. Be better.

I thought he said it specifically to mock Trump. I laughed when I read it.

~mod~ The image uses ableist imagery, discriminatory chan language, and is offensive. Sorry, whatever positive message therein is completely lost in the negative content. -Amanda

Is that useful?

Yeah that’s a terrible graphic. Feels like 8chan crap.

Note that the only stance that isn't criticized is the "rational Libright". That should tell you everything you need to know. That guy probably loves him some Ayn Rand.

Found my movement.
For the next few weeks at least.

I know it is the political picture thread but any time I see that hot dog costume I have to remind everyone who hasn't seen the show to check out "I think you should leave" on Netflix. That sketch in particular is amazing.

That raises an interesting question- how helpful or harmful is it to monitor what the chowderheads are up to among themselves? I sometimes can't look away from the wide variety of train wrecks on offer, but it's hard to tell sometimes if I'm seeing a real and dangerous movement or just a bunch of extremely online chuckleheads.

The sealion cartoon gets the most attention, but I find this one more relatable:

That distinction has gradually vanished. The extremely online people and the dangerous extremists created a feedback loop and now you have extremely online people heading into the streets with rifles and the dangerous extremists spending all day trolling people online.

I think there’s inherent value to it if only to just be aware of trends and the way they talk amongst themselves when they don’t think anyone else is paying attention, but it’s definitely not for everyone and can be existentially exhausting. I have found it useful in dealing with relatives, but I also think it’s made me a bit more paranoid about things than I need to be.

It's more paranoid than you need to be, until suddenly it's necessary to be so. We have crept up on that and crossed the line is some places, like w 8chan etc.

I just follow the folks who track the racists and extremists, like JJ MacNab. You get exposed to all the flavors of hate and crazy without actually having to actually swim in the poo water yourself.

I do as well, but I also try to track down sources because everyone has blind spots. McNabb for instance- she’s fairly on point now but she was way behind the curve on the Boogaloo movement until fairly recently.
