The Halloween Scare-All

Yeah I liked US but it doesn't make sense. With a few minor changes it could have been much better.

Started early with the Halloween stuff.

Watched Into the Dark season one. This is like a series of movies that are unrelated except all of them are horror theme and represent a different Holiday. All of them are to long and start off slow. I did really like a bunch of them though.

Watched Tokyo Gore Police. This movie is one of the most goriest crazy things I have ever watched. The story makes no sense. Violence is at 20 on scale of 1 to 10.

Minor spoiler to explain what you are getting into with this movie

Spoiler:

A guy has 5 foot penis that shoots "something" that he uses to kill people with. A woman uses a bazooka to rocket jump up a building like people do in Team Fortress 2.

And those are the least crazy things in the movie.

I'm not going to any parties but will probably wear my star trek outfit if I go to the store or something.

For games I'm playing Alan Wake on the PC and Death Mark on the Switch, Death Mark is more of a Visual Novel but there is game stuff in it. Oddly enough Alan Wake is like being in a horror novel.

I played Dead By Daylight with some friends on Monday, a perfect game for October! For those who don't know, it's a 4v1 assymetrical online slasher movie simulator. One player is the Killer, whose goal is to sacrifice the four players to the Entity, a possibly Lovecraftian enigma who is only remotely involved. The other four players are Survivors, who are trying to work together to escape from the Trial.

It's a ton of fun with friends, demanding a coooperative approach. It also has a character building system that's as deep as many MMOs. We've actually played again both Tuesday and Wednesday.

Best of all, it's in Xbox Gamepass, and it supports cross-platform play! On Monday we had two on Xbox, two on PC, and one on PS4. We used Xbox party chat for comms (PC players join using Xbox app, PS4 user can use the Xbox app on his phone).

Watched Antebellum which made no sense. By the end of the movie I had no idea why anything was happening or how anything worked. Someone described it as racism slave porn and that is what it was.

I did like one thing about the movie. There was a good shot of a lady on a horse screaming. The lady was screaming not the horse. The camera work was beautiful for that.

Watched Grave of the Vampire which wasn't good. The vampire just woke up at random to eat a dude and eat rape his girlfriend. This happens in the first 10 minutes. I was really confused until the end. The movie time skips multiple times but I didn't realize that until the end of the movie. The movie follows the vampire through time . Every kill makes him look more human. Then he becomes a teacher. I don't know why,. I'm not sure how he gets to class during the day.

We learn that he wants to bring his dead wife back to life by calling her spirit into the body of a lady

big spoiler

Spoiler:

That lady the vampire raped in the first 10 minutes of the movie had a baby. The adult son kills his daddy and then becomes a full vampire. Before he was just a half vampire like Blade but not black. He then walks slowly toward the girl that was going to hold the soul of the dead vampire's wife.

The movie then ends and I'm like what hell did I just watch. I know it is a old 70s movie but they made better movies than this back then. Needed Vincent Price and a plot that made sense.

I'm enjoying all these movie synopses. If you know any horror movies you DO recommend (ideally on Netflix or Amazon), by all means, put 'em out there!

Here's a few I enjoy:

Cabin in the Woods
In the Mouth of Madness
Thirst (Korean vampires)
The Haunting of Hill House (miniseries)

I seen all of those and liked them.

Freaks = A dad wont let his daughter out. Is the dad insane or has the outside world gone to hell. Don't look up anything about it unless you want to spoiled. It is one of those movies that has a twist.

The Platform = People live in a type of pit with 333 levels and two people on each level. Every day food is sent down the pit on a platform. The people on top get first pickings. The people on the bottom are usually left with nothing to eat. The kicker is that if everyone only took what they needed there would be enough food for everybody.

Castlevania = It is based on the video game.

The Babysitter = the babysitter is part of a blood cult trying to kill the kid she is babysitting.

Evil = Has the guy from Luke Cage in it as a priest that teams up with a Scully type lady to figure out weird x-files type stuff.

Killer Clowns from Outer Space = Best movie about killer clowns from outer space ever made.

Sweetheart = Kind of a modern take on sea creature monster.

Black Summer = zombies

I'm interested in Evil. I thought the show sounded interesting from the beginning. I just checked to see if it got renewed last week. Everything says it did, but I guess coronavirus has slowed down TV production, so we don't know when exactly it will resume.

Also have prior interest in Castlevania and The Babysitter.

Continuing to play Dead by Daylight every night with my friends! It's such an intense game. I'm only playing Survivor so far; not sure I would enjoy playing the Killer, and apparently (at least at low ranks) others agree to me, as matchmaking times can be pretty long.

Watched Gretel and Hansel and liked it. I would have just called it Gretel since Hansel is more or less just a prop. Not that he was a bad actor he just didn't have a story arc.

This is obvious a dark take on Hansel and Gretel Witchhunters. Some of the story makes no sense but it is mostly on track and things come together. A couple of minor perv moments with old dudes wanting to have sex with Gretel. Gretel is strong and isn't having any of that. Early on the kids have to leave home and come across the witch's home. Things change up greatly from the classic story until the end and even then things are different.

The movie isn't scary but is dark. Some compare the movie to The Witch. This is true tone wise. The Witch is much better though,.

Watched Tremors A Cold day in Hell which was terrible but all Tremors are except for the first one. The dumbest thing about this movie is it takes place in the Arctic yet it is clearly not in the Arctic. The first scene is in a winter wonderland of snow and ice. The rest of the movie is in a dessert where the sugary dumbness will rot your teeth but no sugary snow in sight. However, this is what you sign up for when watching this so I was entertain by the bad acting, stupid logic, and not to terrible special effects.

Note this movie has some big references to the other movies so I wouldn't watch this without watching the movies that come before it if you care about sort of thing. I wonder if they will take this serious to space.

Watched Blood Machines on shudder and liked it maybe, This isn't a horror movie and maybe more of a music video. The movie is a sci fi trip kind like Heavy Metal the movie or comic magazine. So space ships, androids, naked women, AI gone amok, and weird plot.

I'm not sure if any of this is a spoiler. It is like if I told you every detail of Sucker Punch. You have to see it for yourself like the matrix. You have to hear the music and place it with visuals of naked women and space ships. Just telling you what is in the movie won't spoil anything because it makes no sense,

Spoiler:

A space ship is shot down and crashes on a planet. The pirates, all female, want to use the crashed ship to repair their ship, The captain destroys or murders the pirate ship. The pirates do a thing that causes a naked open to burst from the ship and fly into space,

The captain decides to follow the naked woman through space to a junk yard. The naked woman infects a giant ship. The captain goes to find the naked woman bringing along one of the pirates. The ship doesn't obey the rules of physics no idea why,

The pirate pretends like she is going to give the captain a blow job but kills him instead. So the pirate lady and the naked lady join forces to create a army of naked women. They then trick another ship into coming to the junkyard.

They have a fight with the new ship and use their army to convert it into a giant woman. A giant naked woman.

Yeah its a music video. The show is made up of three 20 minutes videos half of which are credits. I like this like I like Sucker Punch. A terrible movie but I like watching the pretty pictures so I can watch it anytime.

Watched Vampires vs The Bronx on netflix and thought it was okay. The movie is exactly what you expect it to be. Kids might dig this movie but there is some language in it that I think they should have left out. Best thing about it that we get some actors of color for a change. I also liked the story but I was also taking pictures of toys while watching it. There will be more toy pictures in the toy thread coming soon.

If you want something better in the same vain of this check out Attack the Block.

One thing to add. I just found out this is a sequel to a music video called Turbo Killer. Might want to watch that before watching this movie. You don't have to but some of the same people are in both movies / videos.

Freaks = A dad wont let his daughter out. Is the dad insane or has the outside world gone to hell. Don't look up anything about it unless you want to spoiled. It is one of those movies that has a twist.

Watched it and really liked it. Recommended!

I finally saw Resolution, which is on Amazon Prime. Last year I saw its sequel The Endless, which is currently on Netflix. I think they would have been better seen in order, but it's not a huge deal. Both movies I would describe as eerie rather than scary, but they're definitely in the horror genre.

Both movies hold your attention pretty well and don't overstay their welcome.

Watched Creep and will not be watching Creep 2. This is high on many horror lists but I didn't like it. The last 5 minutes were good but that is the only thing I liked.

The first problem I had is that this is a found footage type movie and I hate found footage movies except for a few rare exceptions. Just hate the format.

The next problem is I was just bored. The "creepy" moments didn't do anything for me. The purpose was to put the viewer in a state of unease but at times I was like is this suppose to be creepy. Maybe he was suppose to be just slightly off with moments of oh that is odd. I just didn't care.

The acting is good and the movie is short but felt longer. Most people will probably like this movie.

Yes I had this stuck in my head the entire time. I guess that is one bonus.

Watched the first episode of The Haunting of Bly Manor on netflix and liked it. All the actors are good including the kids, They might be trying to hard to be creepy, Hill House was a bit more natural but that could be because it came out first.

Just for episode one a lady is hired to watch over a couple of kids and creepy stuff happens. The little girl steals the show so far. She is just splendid.

Watched Blood Quantum and didn't like it the first time but did the second time. This is another shudder movie but might be on other services.

This is a zombie move where the cast are all natives from Canada. The twist is all the natives at least from Canada are immune to the zombie virus. So all the zombies are white people which is usually the case in zombies but you never see this many non white hero types in movies like this. Of course the jerks are also natives

I didn't like the movie at first because I didn't think it was bloody enough. There are a few scenes where the killing is done off camera. There are on screen murders just seem lite on my first viewing. On my second viewing I had a much better time and thought the blood content was okay. The thing I didn't like was how one guy went nuts or super evil for no good reason. I just didn't agree with his motivation. It is kind of like deciding to kill your entire family because mom and dad wont let you play video games instead of just sneaking your DS out like a normal person. I guess these movies always has to have that guy.

Watched Ajin which is a anime series on netflix. I liked the series but it isn't a good Halloween show. The show starts off with some horror elements but that quickly dies off. I found it listed under horror. List always lie to me.

The show is about people that one day find out they can not die. The government decide to track these people down and torture them by killing them over and over in horrific ways. Some Ajins don't like being tortured so band together to fight back. They do that by killing people, but did they deserve it? You decide.

Hopefully my next anime pick will be more Halloween or horror themed. I forget the name but it has insects on mars or some planet. Probably turn into some weird anime where the dad tries to sneak panty shots from his daughter while insects are eating people. Hmm that might still be horror,

if you want a horror themed anime watch Another.

Perfect segue for me to say I finally watched the first episode of Castlevania today. Whoa, that is definitely not for the kids.

Just looked it up, looks interesting.

Up to episode 3 of The Haunting of Bly Manor. There is a trope in anime that I keep getting reminded of when watching this show. The glowing glasses trope that is often followed or proceeded by moving the glasses closer to the face. They changed the format with this series. Hill House each episode had a solid theme. This show is more like a long movie.

Up to episode four of Terra Formars. When watching this I couldn't shake the feeling that the bad guys were made to look like black people. So I did search to see what other people thought. That was a mistake. People are the true horror.

Every time I see the glowing glasses it makes me think of Sin City

Completed Bly Manor and liked it overall. The last few episode were the best of the season. Glad I didn't drop it. Couldn't have been shorter, not everything came together but the show ended good.

Watched the last episode of The Walking Dead. I always wonder what would happen if Star Destroyer showed up the empire started attacking the walking dead world, now I know,.

Watched The Nightingale and liked it. The movie is horrific but not horror. At its core it is a rape revenge movie which is engulfed in racism, sexism, and colonialism. Found out about it on a list of horror movies with POC.

I thought the movie would glorify the violence and revenge aspect more from watching the trailer. The actual movie felt more realistic and sad. This was the first acting job for the male co-lead. I think this was the first movie for the female lead but she had done plays. Both were fantastic in their roles. The movie comes from the same writer director as The Babadook which was great.

The Simpsons Tree House of Terror is this Sunday the 18th.

Watched Tanny and the T-rex and it was bad but entertaining. It is a movie from the early 90s staring Denise Richards. A kid gets his brain put into a robotic T-rex. The T-rex goes around killing the people that wronged him when he was human. He also kills a bunch of people that didn't wrong him for some odd reason. So the wacky thing about this movie is the kid seems to be in complete control of his new t-rex body. There are silly things where we have a t-rex making phone calls and playing hand games. Really dumb stuff that is kind of funny.

The only bad thing was a few unnecessary gay jokes. Got to get in those guy jokes in 90 movies I guess.

Oh I don't know what the deal is with the name. The movie is called is Tanny and the t-rex but is sold as Tammy and T-Rex, Did they spell her name wrong? There is a robotic dinosaur so you probably wont care.
