[Discussion] Hope to Remember The Trump Administration Thread as being 'transparent and honest'

Let's follow and discuss what our newest presidential administration gets up to, the good, the bad, the lawsuits, and the many many indictments.

Of note this f*cker has never taken even a minute to mourn the death of the 200,000 Americans. Not at any point.

At this point the White House housekeeping staff have started testing positive (and are being told not to tell people).

And from what the press secretary has been saying, she has no idea how the infection or testing work. PSA: testing negative doesn't mean that you don't have it, it just means that it didn't show up on the test. If you're really early in the infection, that's to be expected and you should isolate until enough time has passed to have a more definitive result.

A vast number of people at the top of the administration have COVID now. Some don't know it yet. Most likely, they've already infected large numbers of the staff, administration personnel, and press. They're deliberately thwarting contact tracing, so many of the people they infect won't know in time to take precautions and will infect other in turn.

Some fraction of the upper administration will die. From our perspective who it is will be random. A larger number of people in the secondary infections and the community will also die--an expanding halo of death radiating out from the Rose Garden. They won't get treated in the presidential suite at Walter Reed. They'll mostly die alone and unable to touch their loved ones.

Seems reasonably likely that nobody in the White House will die, due to most of them not being elderly with other health issues. But yeah, if they go out into their families etc. as if nothing is wrong...

Is it me, or is Donald Trump's health in the hands of Chandler Bing? Look at his mannerisms!

Remember that the people at risk include older senators: Thom Tillis is 60, and tested positive, Chuck Grassley is 87 and has refused to be tested despite his close contact with Mike Lee.

There’s no way he actually had Covid. This was all a ploy to downplay the virus as no big deal. Shame since now even more people will die to get Dear Leader RE-elected.

The hospital staff went along with it? Every sick senator and staffer went along with it?

REPORTER: "Does the president have pneumonia or any inflammation in his lungs at all?"
CONLEY: "We've done routine standard imaging. I'm just not at liberty to discuss."
REPORTER: "You're actively not telling us what those lung scans showed, just to be clear?"
CONLEY: "There are HIPAA rules and regulations that restrict me in sharing certain things for his safety and his own health and reasons."

Presumably, saying anything at all about Trumps health is against those rules? So Trump actively chose to draw the line here.

Now, I genuinely think Trump is doing fine (well, relatively to his pre-covid condition of course), and they aren't trying to hide anything. But they sure aren't doing a good job as acting like they aren't trying to hide stuff.
Which I guess reminds me of the Mueller investigation.

True. My comment was only about those White House employees. Senators might definitely be another case entirely.

He has it. He has it and he is going back to the white house to both infect others and I believe that since he is still infectious, he can endanger his compromised health being in an infected environment.

The white house will be a revolving door of infection.

He absolutely hates hospitals and has a deep fear of ever being seen as weak. This is the person who once fired employee for having a heart attack because he didn’t think he was strong enough to work for him.

He has it, he probably didn’t want to go to the hospital in the first place but somebody with a minimum of common sense forced him to, but now that he’s on steroids and thinks he’s feeling better he’s forcing them to release him.

If this was a ploy they wouldn’t selectively be refusing to reveal things about his health like the results of his lung scans. Though he might have still made essentially the worst possible Tweet.

Depending on where he actually is in the infection timeline, they refuse to say when he last tested negative, I would put the money on him having to be rushed back to the hospital before the week is out.

In the extremely off chance that this is a ploy it is the worst ploy in the history of ploys. Horror movie protagonists would tell you this is a bad idea. It’s like trying to hide from a pack of wild dogs by camouflaging your scent with blood.

Who says any hospital staff was even involved?

The steroid that he is on has known side effects including euphoria and mood swings.

And it widely known that Covid patients experience many ups and downs, with many even reporting feeling much better before deteriorating, including until death.

Pride goeth before a fall.

I think it unlikely that they faked his Covid diagnosis and therapies. It would take a mountain of fake data, and the silence of everyone involved, in an administration that is one fat leaky boat at this point. For him to be in the hospital, there has to be some evidence and records that would support his diagnosis, and his medications, diagnostic tests, etc. Steroids are one of the most powerful drugs that we have, and i just don't think it's reasonable to think that they would give them to a sitting president without absolute need.

That said, i know he'd do anything to win, and he may have even suggested it at some point. I just don't think they could pull that off.

... this here. This administration can’t pull off anything fake without it being cartoonishly incompetent. There’s absolutely zero chance that they would be able to fake this diagnosis without it being found out in .08 seconds from inception.

They couldn't pull off faking work, signing blank pages, how are they going to fake this.

Yes. Trump is extremely controlling about reports on his health, including dictating the specific wording used by his physicians. And the law protects him in this regard. HIPAA provides that doctors can only disclose information specified by the patient to other parties. This is to provide patients with a measure of privacy and is a good law to have in place.

It's only problematic here because Trump is a habitual liar and his administration has lied to the citizenry literally since the first day he took office. He's using privacy laws to avoid a responsibility he has as a leader to openly and clearly communicate his health status to Americans. He's clearly drawn a line with his doctors not for the sake of privacy but for political advantage.

While it looks increasingly likely that the Rose Garden ceremony for Amy Coney Barrett was the locus for the current outbreak, the White House is doing no contact tracing for that event and is instead focusing solely on the two days before Trump's public diagnosis. It has cut the CDC out of the process entirely.

I presume that they're going to pump him full of enough drugs to stay upright on his walk out the door, no matter his actual condition.

Given that it's pretty clear now that he wasn't actively being tested for COVID-19 until Hope Hicks started showing symptoms (and can't point to the last time he had a negative test) plus the White House is actively blocking the CDC from doing contact tracing, we have no idea exactly where he is in his infection timeline. His doctors might not know either.

He's going to go to the White House and claim that he has the thing beat. (He thinks he's going to go on the campaign trail soon.) I'm skeptical that he's far enough along to be out of the woods (let alone a non-carrier) but presume that he'll be able to remain upright for a bit.

Logic suggests that he is not faking it and I tend to agree. However...

Soon will come the second wave of armed thugs storming state houses to demand reopenings begin immediately.

Many medical virus specialist are saying that no one has been on the cocktail of drugs that Trump has. One went so far as to say it indicates he has COVID pneumonia which is treatable but serious. (the dr is a member of the UW IHME)
regeneron
dexamethazone (reserved for severe patients only)
remdesivir (reserved for severe patients only)
unnamed cocktail
other medications he was taking before his COVID diagnosis

I hope that his doctor is comfortable with his career being over. Even if he still gets to practice, who would trust him or be his patient for anything at this point. Not even a hang nail!

Nah, there are plenty of rich people who think they're immortal and want a doctor who does as they tell him.

Just run for Congress like Trump's last doc.

Pretty amazing that Team Trump thinks it's great optics to have him leave the hospital early, pose--all Ronald McDonalded-up--in front of the White House, and remove his mask while clearly breathing heavily.

Oh my God, I just watch the video. He took his mask off. He took his mask off next to a photographer. He took his mask off before walking into the White House where hundreds of people work. 72%?! Of the public blame his getting the virus on his own actions and not taking the pandemic seriously enough and he TOOK OFF HIS MASK BEFORE WALKING IN!

Jesus Motherf*cking Christ, Woodrow Wilson was a better president than him… AFTER THE STROKE!

That could end up being a hell of a collector's item if he dies.

He did it again because he didn't like how it looked the first time.

It's going to be a f*cking campaign commercial in a few hours.

Rudy was on Fox News, coughing, and said he was tested for COVID two hours ago and was awaiting the results.

The sheer amount of privilege on display with this administration as they dismiss the severity of the pandemic with their actions is disgusting.

I’d definitely frame it and go buy a NYT that trumpets his death and frame them with a nice matte and beautiful walnut frame.
