You can have three revives? Who knew.

4 actually. 3 from the mirror, and 1 from that skelly keepsake. Like Malleus said, use other keepsakes through the first 3 stages, and then if you beat A&T, switch in Skelly one for one extra life on Hades.

Technically 5 with legendary Chaos boon.

I’m confused, three from what mirror skill? I thought your only options were the one strong revive or one weak revive per chamber. With skelly’s keepsake that is two max per chamber. Does leveling up skelly raise the number?

1 revive is from mirror level 1. It can be upgraded 2 more times for 3 revives from that one skill.

It's 3 strong per run or 1 week per chamber when fully upgraded.

Ack. I wonder how many more wins I’d have had if I realized the strong revives stacked. Here I come a-respeccin’.

I actually prefer the broken spear point keepsake for hades and level 4. The little bit of immunity post damage has a lot of good uses with the mobs and hades himself.

Spoiler:

Little rats can be annoying, if you don’t have a good AOE, and against the crystal beams it’s nice, and Hades’s laser attack it’ll give you an extra moment to find cover

Nice. Love to hear everyone's strategies. Depending on the run might switch things up sometimes.

Edit: Of course I don't have that. The one NPC I've been looking for the last dozen runs since the first time we met and I didn't have nectar. Carried it every time since and haven't seen them again.

Yap, first run after respeccing into death defiance rather than stubborn resulted in a bow win. Optimal hammers, pretty awful boons. I guess I didn’t actually need the extra revives as I only used two the whole run, but knowing I can have four for Hades is a game changer as far as building my run.

Nice work!

Wow, nice. Crystal Clarity is one of my favorite duos, but I've never managed to get it with both Mirage Shot and Glacial Glare. I bet you didn't even have to use your attack buttons.

I finally escaped on run 78! Used the fists and got a perfect mix of boons to make my uppercut very overpowered. I was beating bosses in half the time it usually takes me. Probably my best gaming moment of the year.

Wasted far too much of my Sunday attempting heat 32 (I blame Dyni) . However, In the end a change of strategy helped me get my 3rd statue.

Holy balls! Did you jump from heat 9 to 32 or do you just specialise in the Rail?

With Rail i went 16 - 20 - 32. I mainly have been playing rail attempting 32, although got really close with cast sword also. I honestly never realized i have not gotten sword above 9 I will fix that this week. I have no doubt i can get that to ~16-20 without too much work.

I highly prefer sword/rail to the other weapons though. I really dislike Shield/Bow but most of those runs were to get the contracts done.

In general I can say above heat ~20 really gets less fun IMO. The RNG portion starts to come in a lot heavier.

Would obviously change for some of these top players etc. but at my current level i'd say this.

Heat < 10 - Pretty much run any build once you learn everything
10 - 20 - You need to somewhat use gods good for that weapon in the mode etc. A lot less free form but not RNG dependent.
20+ on top of using most powerful combo's for weapon you really need to get some RNG luck on getting specific boons for the combo.

Did three more runs yesterday. I was trying to get a bunch of Athena boons and finish out one of the early prophecies, but I could never quite get either of those runs off the ground. I died to Meg in one of them, and then before even reaching Meg in the second.

Then I unlocked the fists and had my best run yet, got well into Elysium.

Managed to beat A&T for the first time and got the the last boss. Was on a run I didn’t have much confidence in too. Adamant rail with 2 Daedalus upgrades (fire rate and increased ammo), Hangover and bonus damage when applying hangover. Was lacking in Armour pierce and deflection but still was a strong build.

First bow victory! Had the rapid fire no power shot hammer. But again I think the key was Stubborn Roots duo boon. I'm 2 for 2 when getting that boon. That also annoys me because I had a run last week where I had a good chance at getting that in Elysium but died in the room of one of the gods that grants it. I think if I'd finished that room might have powered through to win.

On final boss phase 2 I was able to hide behind the pillars during his big beam attacks and heal up. I also had 4 dash instead of 2 thanks to Hermes so it was easy to dodge those bomb explosive shock waves. Zeus call attack also went well with those extra dashes, just zipping around the boss in a circle.

I also finally saw Patroclus again that run and was able to give nectar and get his keepsake. So I did use that for final area/boss and think it helped.

Whew. So fun to win again. And hopefully some more story advancement!

Putting actual Sisyphus into the most Sisyphean of games was a stroke of meta-narrative genius.

I picked up Flurry Shot immediately on my first run with the bow and got pretty far into Elysium with it. Absolutely transforms the bow.

I think Frost Strike put it over the top for me that run. I was using Chiron on the first area but once I got Frost, the main attack was doing even more damage. Really fun run.

Definitely noticed that. I haven't seen it yet but I suspect that particular god is the one I haven't met.

I never skip a Demeter boon. Think she's my overall favorite at this point.

RNGesus is being naughty as I cannot seem to close out a few prophecies since the boons and what not are not be chosen for me.
Curse the gods!

Some boons have prerequisites. This is the extent of my knowledge on the matter.

Maybe focus real hard on one god that's incomplete? Maybe what you need is locked behind a boon you usually pass on?

There is a contractor upgrade that lets you see what the prerequisite is for each boon. Not sure what the prerequisite for that upgrade is. It was added in with 1.0, so it just showed up one day for me.

This is so impressive. What was your heat strategy: what pact options did you take? I've been able to get past the Hydra on 32, but anything beyond that seems pretty iffy.

I've been thinking that I should actually switch to the one res per room Mirror option even though that's been the clearly inferior choice up until this point.

I knew about the prereps, but seem to have just had bad luck.

I haven't seen the contractor thing yet, I'll have to go look for that.

Yeah I pull up the prerequisites in menu sometimes before choosing a door. Just to see what might be available to add to my current build.
