Random thing you love right now that doesn't deserve its own thread

These are *not* random things I love. Anymore.

I could stand to hear a little more.

Well Tash loves me and that seems pretty random. Who is Tash one might ask? Well I asked the very same question when the "Tash loves you." message popped up on my screen last night. And then I remembered. When I first created this character in Stardew Valley and had to name the cat (the cute grey one), I chose Tash and then promptly forgot all about it!

(I'm sure Tash would have posted about it, but it's probably a bit too difficult with kitty paws, so I'm kindly helping out here.)

I laughed at this waaaay more than I should have. Particular props to the dad dancing champion of Russia at 02:30

I voted for Arnold when he was our governor. In my opinion, he was one of the best governors California has had. Don't get me wrong, Gavin Newsom is fine, but Arnold was spectacular.

Arnold is certainly putting a lot of billionaires to shame.

The Amber Ruffin show premieres tomorrow, Friday, Sep 25, 2020 on Peacock, NBC’s free streaming service.

WHAT?!

What.

If you don’t know who Amber Ruffin is, just watch. You’ll be glad you did.

Yeah pretty excited. Her skits on Seth Meyers are some of the best.

What.

I loved the White Forgiveness Clock.

Looks like the writers for Amber's show are 4 of the Late Night writing team.

New eggcorn spotted!

A few days ago I said I loved the fact I interviewed one of my comedy heroes, Bob Mills. He was on UK TV in the 1990s with In Bed With Me Dinner and Win, Lose or Draw. Now he's on Talk Radio and Talk Sport.

I said I'd post it here, so if you follow this link you can find links to the show on iTunes, Spotify etc

It's so nice when Colorado Springs makes the national news for something other than racism or our batsh*t local government.

I loved the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo when I lived in Colorado Springs, and I was always amazed at how well the climate there agreed with giraffes. Now if we can just transplant a bunch of rhinos and elephants to Kansas, we'll be good.

I watch their live cams frequently and am amazed that the giraffes and other animals are regularly outside all year round, provided that it isn't raining or snowing or below a certain temperature. I would have thought that after a certain time of year, they would all need to stay inside at least until spring arrived.

I get envious of those of you who have had opportunity to live near this amazing zoo!

We usually think of them as warm-weather animals, but their native parts of Africa do get cold. Like the Kalahari overnight temps can be below freezing in the winter and they get frost.

I think this is the zoo where there's a ski lift that takes you to a sequestered part of the zoo at the top where there is a yurt. Just a yurt.

Is it named Yurtle?

You mean the Sky Ride. There's more than just a yurt at the top these days. There's a playground and climbing wall and café. The lift itself has some great views, though, especially since it passes over some of the habits and can give you a unique view of the animals.

The giraffe area is huge, and you can buy lettuce to feed to the giraffes. The whole herd will spend the entire day pressed against the walkway beside the enclosure to beg for treats. They're super pushy, too, just sticking their big heads in your face.

I'm a member at the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo and in non-covid years, my family and I will go up there every couple weeks. It makes me happy to hear that other people enjoy the zoo remotely. It really is a pretty special place. They've put a lot of work in over the years to expand and improve the habitats to make them more hospitable for the animals.

Recycling.

We've just been given the means/permission to recycle food waste separately and then bung it in the garden waste for composting. I'm quietly thrilled to have another way of separating out the waste and feeling like it isn't all just going in a hole in the ground regardless.

Woke up at 6AM this morning, as I usually do, got up, fed the cats, then sat on the couch, still feeling very sleepy. So I thought 'Could I go back to sleep if I tried?' and, since I could not find a good reason not to try, I did.

I ended up oversleeping, and it was glorious.

Getting up at six sounds nice and decadent! I have to get up at 5:00AM every day, and I resent it every single day. Sleeping in until 7:00AM on the weekends is nothing sort of fantastic.

Before I started working from home, 5:30 was my usual wake up time, and I hated that. I am grateful every day that I don't even need an alarm in the morning at the moment.

I envy you!
