Assassin's Creed Valhalla RPG Catch-All

Ismail is someone who really understands the franchise and why it's so fun. To many, and I include myself in this, he's been a key part of the teams that have rejuvinated Assassin's Creed twice (Black Flag and Origins). Very excited to see what they've come up with to advance the series.

I really hope they get the music right in the game. I've been jamming to Fimbul Radio on Youtube as a I work for the past few days and it's so goooooooooood

Jesper Kyd (AC 1 through Revelations) and Sarah Schachner (AC: Origins) both just tweeted they're returning to compose music for Valhalla. That has me pretty excited!

Origins music was so amazing. The main theme still gets stuck in my head constantly.

It'll be all licensed music. Enslaved, Borknagar, and Amon Amarth.

... Actually just make all of it like the intro music to The Last Kingdom / the fight music from Witcher 3.

They're bringing back the one-hit kill hidden blade, in a skill-based fasion, along with social stealth.

Hallelujah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wait, it's completely gone in Odyssey?! A quick Googley-goo says, "yes."

In Origins you had to be appropriately levelled - which I got used to, but now I'm bummed before I've even started Odyssey.

What about hiding and other stealth kills? Are they completely gone from Odyssey too?

There absolutely are one-hit stealth kills in Odyssey, provided your stealth damage number is high enough -- and it usually is, if you keep your gear fresh and your stealth abilities levelled. I love stealth-killing entire war camps without getting detected and leaving no bodies behind (there's an ability you eventually can unlock that makes a stealth-killed enemy's body disappear immediately).

I liked the system in Oddsey, with stealth dmg being gear/skill dependent. Sure, different game than the old AC's, but in an RPG it makes sense. You can go for stealth, melee or bow, and might not excel at everything. I went full stealth spec in Odyssey, and it mostly worked as you would expect. Some stronger enemies cant be oneshot - but stealth builds can get very strong in normal combat as well.

You can preorder on amazon for $50

Assassin's Creed Valhalla - PlayStation 4 Standard Edition https://www.amazon.com/dp/B087XTT5GZ...

Don't know if I will keep the preorder but it seemed like too nice a price to pass up.

I have seen the rumor on a couple sites that it will be coming to GamePass. Wonderful if it is but I am waiting for a confirmation before cancelling the preorder.

I imagine, if it does come to Game Pass, it will be for the console only as they seem to have some sort of exclusivity deal with Epic on PC.

And that linked website has a lot of nipples through tight shirts.

Not with uBlock Origin active.

Yes there is so much I "miss" from having uBlock running all the time. Makes me cringe when I have to go help family with computer issues - I am constantly thinking "how can they stand this?"

The way that email has been cropped, it looks like Valhalla and Dirt 5 are part of the Game Pass section, but they're actually part of the games section just above it. The Series X website uses a similar layout. The publisher for Dirt 5 has confirmed that it's not coming to Game Pass at launch and there aren't any plans for it post-launch, either. I wouldn't count on Valhalla being a part of Game Pass at this time.

Probably not but it does underscore how my calculation on buying games has changed with Game Pass. Red Dead Redemption 2 also underlined that but that was a long distance between release and appearing on Game Pass. However my thought process has certainly changed.

Are either Odyssey or Origins on GamePass?

There are currently no Assassin's Creed games on Game Pass, although there are (or at least have been) other games from Ubisoft.

Thanks for the heads-up. I just temporarily disabled uBlock Origin on that page (for research purposes), but saw zero nipples-through-tight-shirts pictures. Very disappointed.

So yeah I guess it would be strange to me if they included the hot new one that will sell a lot of copies, but not the two older-new ones.

New story trailer

It just feels like they're not closing the deal with this one.

What's the selling point that makes this not more of the same from Origins and Odyssey?

I want to be sold on this game, but I'm not seeing it yet.

I'm personally looking forward to the England setting and exploring creepy bogs and forests, along with the return of social stealth in cities. These games are basically guaranteed purchases for me, so I'm not the most unbiased person though.

For starters you build a settlement.

Other than that I'm completely sold on the setting, the time period, and the cultures involved, personally.

It’s from the team* that did Black Flag and Origins so I have confidence that they can tell a good story, with good set pieces, in a very fun setting. Those are two of my favourite games ever.

I won’t be in on this on day 1, though. Cyberpunk 2077 is out just a few days later and I’m going to wait for that.

*before the leader got exposed as a complete dickbag

Having been engrossed in Odyssey the last few weeks, I'm pretty much sold on everything about this game except the setting. It's mostly just a factor of landing at the wrong time when I've seen far too much white supremacy bathed in half-cocked Viking mythologizing. If not for that, I'd be all over this one.

I’m still wary of the AC teams’ culture of abuse. I’m not convinced it’s dealt with, and I’ll think about it every time I start up the game. I know a lot of people worked hard on this but I doubt they are the ones who benefit if the game sells well.

I'm still playing Unity so it will be a while before I get to Valhalla, but I am definitely planning to get it...sometime! On a good note, I will have plenty of time before I play for it to go deeply on sale with along with season pass and DLC just like the others that I already have but haven't yet played.

One of my most frequent Spotify playlists just added the OST from Valhalla to the rotation.

HYPE INTENSIFIED. The soundtrack itself sent shivers up my spine. Hopefully release date doesn't get pushed because I've got a week blocked to drown myself in Valhalla and Cyberpunk
