Questions you want answered.

yup--that's what I meant by not just "simply repeating that symbol". That's my question--is there a non-positional system where new symbols can be generated from the symbols and rules already in use.

I've never heard of a system like you're describing, but as a point of interest I guess one could be devised.

E.g., one could have an exponent based system, where XY implies that X should be multiplied by the Yth power of 10. That is, the number 99 might be written "919" (or "991"), and the number following that would be "12", then "121", and so on without needing any new numerals.

cool!

Would it be possible to make an arcade stick that had a second stick to emulate the right stick of a modern controller? It sounds weird but it would be fun to make one.

Why was I today years old when I realized that "Boo Berry" and "Franken Berry" halloween cereals are the exact same flavor, just different color/packaging?

I'm pretty sure they were different when I was young, but I'm not sure I ever ate any. And back then they were year-round cereals, not seasonal.

Robotron: 2084, Smash TV, and Karate Champ are classic arcade games that used twin sticks. The first 2 used one stick for movement and the other for shooting.

Can you make a 2-stick controller? Sure. How easy is it? That depends on what you want to do with it.

Play modern games with an arcade stick. Won't be for a hardcore advantage. Just a different part of my brain.

Do you mean the left hand is a digital stick and the right hand analogue?

I have yet another question - this time for the Discord server runners among us.

Is there a bot/app/plugin/whatever for planning events that has a signup list WITH A MAX CAPACITY? And possibly a "next!" waitlist feature?

I can find lots of bots for scheduling and planning raids in MMOs, but I'm looking for one that can be used with a group of, like, 10 users to organize online boardgames - so if we want to play a 4-player game, I want to be able to cap out the signups at 4.

Digital arcade sticks aren't expensive ($10-$15) or hard to find. But the sticks on modern controllers are analog and analog arcade joysticks are more expensive.

Hit up the Guardians with Jobs Destiny 2 discord (https://discord.gg/V6MfTh). There is a bot in there that does exactly what you are looking for. Look in the #events channel.

Amazing. That does indeed appear to be exactly what I was looking for. Thanks!

If I fired cannons from my flying pirate ship into a sentient cloud that is chasing me would the cloud even notice or would I just be making someone have a really bad day on the ground for no reason?

Depends on whether it's currently holding your game saves.

What are you firing? Canister shot? Solid ball? Timed fuse shell?

Given the dream either a solid ball or possible canister shot? I was a bit busy trying to escape from the cloud.

Greek fire is the correct answer. That is, if your pirate ship was an ancient Aegean one.

Cumulonimbus, Cirrus or Stratus?

Strife.

The cloud was thin, snake like, fast, and angry? I am not sure how to classify it.

Cloud Serpent

I had an optics exam once where we had to construct a laser using a cloud as the lasing medium. It was a very stupid exam question. But, I guess, be careful firing cannons at clouds as they may have laser-based countermeasures.

Roll to hit!

I’ve been thinking about Star Wars lore. There’s Jedi and Sith as well as force wielders who are neither. There’s the light side of the force and the dark side. All very binary, false dichotomy type of stuff.

Then there are gray Jedi, but nobody really knows what that’s about. I do appreciate the move towards more nuanced philosophies that gray Jedi imply.

Some questions:
Could non affiliated force wielders be called apostates?

Could there be dark Jedi? White Jedi? Black Jedi?

What about a full spectrum Jedi? A rainbow Jedi?

What would those be like?

Here's a surface to air device which could be mounted on an air pirate ship depending on power requirements.

Are we talking feathered cloud serpent ala Quetzelcoatl, or more Chinese dragon?

Porque no los dos?

There are (or were pre-EU purge) Dark Jedi in the fiction. They were basically ex-Jedi who had fallen to the darkside. They didn't follow the teachings of The Sith so calling them Sith wouldn't have been correct. There were other non-Sith and non-Jedi force users as well since those were just two philosophies that formed among darkside/lightside practitioners.

I think the whole point of the last trilogy was that nobody owns the force. Both Luke and Ben realized that the force can't be bound by a set of rules imposed by a system of belief. All the old canon, which was originally an attempt to contextualize the force, led to corruption. There isn't a dark side and a light side, there is only the intent of the individual.

Given that, I think categorizing Force users and Force sensitive into dark, light, grey, apostate, doesn't make sense in the context of the new Star Wars universe. It's become more of a Zen thing.

That said, given that any new stories may come from any historical perspective, there may yet be Force religions and good, neutral, and evil force-centered groups.

Well, Jedi is a religion, no? Sith is maybe a religion too, whose values are fascism and homogeny. What’s interesting to me is that the Sith, while vile, are honest about their ideals. The Jedi though, pretend to be the embodiment of morality and goodness, yet they become so bogged down with their own rigid policies that they end up doing a lot of harm in the process of trying to protect the galaxy.

I think I would really appreciate some stories about non Jedi/sith force wielders. Maybe that’s why we all love Ahsoka so much.

I think it would really open up the storytelling possibilities. Instead of every big movie having to be a ginormous standoff of Good vs. Evil, more nuanced tales could be told. Rogue One and Solo were good efforts, but still too tied to the original stories. The Mandalorian is a good effort, but I think it is suffering from a lack of budget or something (I still have a hard time believing the Grumpy Pedro Pascal stories). Its stories are smaller, but I want something a little more involved. They almost seem like YA-oriented stuff. Plus the story is headed back to the Jedi, with baby Yoda, so it's going to be tied to the old stuff, too.
