NFL 2020: Week 2

Shanahan's mask is on IR though

Wtf is wrong with the league's most accurate passer?

What's all this Xs and Os talk doing on MNF?

And who are these anonymous guys in the booth? I mean, I've heard of all three, but the combined Q rating of Steve Levy, Brian Griese and Louis Riddick is the same as the number of Panthers sacks this season (zero).

Meanwhile, my video stream of tonight's game is playing a bangin house music tune instead of the halftime show. Right now the song is by a guy named Vato Gonzalez, who according to the internet is ... (checks other tab) ... Dutch?!

Everything is so confusing these days.

Getting old and losing his crown to the league's second most accurate passer.

Why are you watching a stream? ABC slap an antenna on your wall.

That's Steve "Bulging Dick" Levy to you sir.

He's a short old man with a noodle arm whose only receiver isn't playing tonight. No more complicated than that.

Update: Oh, look, a screen pass on 3rd and 22. The reason you have your HoF QB throw a screen in that situation ...

... is because he can't throw the ball down the field.

Seems like the kind of night where'd you lean on your special weapon offensive utility player, right?

Taysom Hill has... 2 rushes for 8 yards, 0 pass targets, and 0 pass attempts.

That torch thing looks really dumb.

Renfro was clearly down, what kind of weak challenge is that?

NFL operations to "take a closer look" at the MetLife Stadium playing surface following the bloodbath game.

Cool, great, deal with it *after* it wrecks a playoff team's season. How is this only now coming up? Does nobody competent work for either of the TWO NFL teams that play home games on this crap? (Jets and Giants fans in unison: "No.")

I don't expect anything to come from this closer look. https://nypost.com/2020/09/21/giants...

Both the steelers and giants escaped metlife stadium without acl injuries in week 1. Our starting RB went down to a tweaked ankle, and we lost two OL to upper body injuries, which just makes 2020 more 2020, but it's hard to blame the turf. Saquon made it to an away game without tearing an ACL.

I just saw an NFL Network promo that claimed that the Raiders' new stadium is nicknamed the Death Star, "where opponents' dreams go to die." Does anyone watch the original Star Wars trilogy anymore?!

I've been thinking about this ever since I heard the nickname. I'd eventually get fed up, but losing *every* super bowl for the next decade would be more entertaining that what I got the past 10 years, and our postseasons have been better than the raiders.

Speaking from authority here, as I think Tomlin has the worst record at challenges in the league, I think Tomlin does it just to try to disrupt momentum. It basically turns a 30 second time out into a 3 minute momentum killer, gives your D more time to catch their breath late in the game, and breaks up any hurry-up offense.

Edit: 11 in a row

NFL fined three head coaches - - Denver’s Vic Fangio, Seattle’s Pete Carroll and SF’s Kyle Shanahan - $100,000 each for not wearing masks Sunday, and each of their teams another $250,000, sources told ESPN.

So that’s $1.05 million dollars in fines for not wearing masks.

How did McVay escape a fine?

Also: 11 guys caught a pass from Carr today.

Taysom Hill's final stat line... same as above.

Deonte Harris, Latavius Murray, and Ty Montgomery (combined AAV $5.238m/yr) all got more usage than Taysom Hill ($10.5m/yr).

He continued to be Zay Jones?

Brees really doesn't have a fastball anymore, huh? Dude's maxing out in the low 80's. I don't think I saw a single pass go more than 10 yards downfield.

Pretty much. The hand sanitizer celebration sums up 2020 though.

Someone last year said something about how Brees needs to use every ounce of his body to make throws and it'll be ugly once he loses a step.

Well, it's ugly.

Here is today's damning Drew Brees stat:

After two games, Brees has 4.9 intended air yards per attempt, 3.6 air yards per completion and 2.4 air yards per attempt.

On all three measures, he's 34th out of 34 QBs ranked.

Your leaders in those three categories (among QBs with two games played) are Kirk Cousins (11.2 IAYPA), Cousins again (9.1 CAY/completion) and Lamar Jackson (6.2 CAY/attempt).

Tom Brady is 22nd/23rd in those stats because Bruce Arians is calling long pass plays and Brady is completing a few of those wounded ducks.

Didn't they have some guy named Teddy there last year?

Bortles is back Baby!

Yeah he was 5-0 as a starter too.

He's clearly on a bad team, but Teddy has not been good this year; he's been racking up garbage time yards. His 1st quarter passer rating is 69.7. 4th quarter? 113.2. Yard/attempt are jumping from 4.18 to 11.75. He's feasting on defenses that are happy to let him pass in desperation catch-up attempts.

Wanted to make sure you had time to pick him back up in dynasty before waivers tomorrow.

He's at 72% completions. 6th among starting QBs. That's gotta count for something.

Trying to criticize Teddy to Stele is like trying to criticize a Carr brother to me.

1st Half: 24/35, 207 yards, 0 TD, 1 INT
2nd Half: 31/41, 429 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT

I've never really spent this much time looking at splits which may have something to do with refreshing Amazon for a Series X over and over. Bridgewater this year in the red zone is 3/8 for 28 yards, and more than 70% of his passing yards are on Carolina's side of the field.

And this was with McCaffery actually healthy. Enix is probably fully into Losers for Lawrence mode at this point.
