NFL 2020: Week 1

Not that we needed a reminder, but yesterday's game again showed us that the Browns are who we know they are until they demonstrate differently.

God I'm going to hate being a Panthers fan. 4th and a foot and they don't give it to McCaffrey. Ugh what a way to lose

This is absolutely the wrong year to hop on board the Panthers train. Try again in a year or two.

As for Carolina, Teddy was fine, and CMC was great. But the O-line had trouble with pass pro, the D line was getting blown off its blocks (esp first-round pick Derrick Brown, who spent most of the day flying backward), the linebackers were bad and the DBs were making a lot of tackles, which is absolutely what you don't want to see.

So, yeah, Carolina's going to score a bunch of points every week but give up a bunch more.

I had to watch it again to believe it, but yes, the announcer actually did call a Niner's player "Circle Jerk McKinnon".

I had my doubts, but this season already delivers.

Jimmy G's lifestyle rubbing off on him.

Daniel Jones is the second coming of Eli Manning: A great throw followed by a terrible throw followed by MANNINGFACE

Why, why didn't the NBA schedule games tonight?

Edit: Yes, I'm posting in the right damn thread.

Watson, the AI that thought Midway Airport was in Toronto and not Chicago is making fantasy football suggestions?

Last year he had fumbleitis, but now he's matured and is armpunting just like his predecessor. #Growth

crazy jwash highlight :O Reminded me of the immaculate extension. https://twitter.com/NFL/status/13056...

Is Jerry Jeudy ok? I haven't seen him since the first drive. They've been going 2-2 and putting in their tallest WRs since then.

Edit: He's back

Weird game. I should have went to bed at half

Well, week 1 is over in this surreal world.. Will be interesting to see if/how teams adjust as time goes with the limited practices and no preseason, especially teams with new coaches and/or schemes.

Give the boy time. He might be able to combine both those facets of his game this year.

There were a few crumbs of comfort in the game. Darius Slayton might be the number 1 receiver we've needed since the OBJ debacle. And Shepherd continues to be a dependable number 2. But it was worrying to see Barkley held to 6 yards on 15 carries. One, he's the best player on the team. Two, the offensive line woes look set to continue.

I might break my record this year, and give up on watching the Giants by week 4...

There were a lot of games that looked like preseason quality. The Brees/Brady showdown, in particular was underwhelming. It all has me thinking that there are three real elite QB's in the NFL now and none of them are named Brady, Brees, or Rodgers. They are Mahommes, Wilson, and Jackson and the gap between them and the rest of the league is bigger than the gap between Minshew and Brees.

You clearly didn't see Rodgers on Sunday. Dimes.

It was magnificent.

Valdes-Scantling had a couple of bad drops and the early 4th goal call was bleh but the latter might be down to Lafleur.

Still holding my breath though as it's 1 week vs a Vikes secondary full of young CBs.

Curious to see how the trade deadline goes this year if the Packers are buyers if things are clicking.

I'm hoping we see some short sighted trades due to beginning of this season being the preseason.

There's already OBJ rumors. Year 2 and they're still not on the same page? I'd trade him, though his value is lacking atm.

OBJ finds it difficult to concentrate while his body is wrapped in a brown colored jersey.

As well as a team with the name the oooooooh I see what you did there.

What it is about WRs and personal implosions? Receivers haven't cornered the market on bad behavior -- Aldon Smith is back in the league, for instance -- but it seems that wideouts seem to be kinda far out. I wonder why?

I honestly don't think it would be a bad move to trade him at this point. He is not going to get the targets he wants to keep him happy where he is and any time Baker throws more than 35 times in a game he sh*ts the bed. The only way the Browns are going to salvage the season is to run more and throw less. And since Landry is the hot hand and Njoku is the cheaper and more effective #2, that leaves OBJ out.

They would be wise to get what they can.

Maybe he's just pooped.

Why can’t we have nice things in Cleveland?

I hope they keep the IR terms for the future. I like that folks can come back sooner.

It's likely the only way to have a 17 game season.

... Wait, did the NFL start covid so it would pave a road to the 17 game season?

Nevermind, Covid was developed so Trump would lose the election. Duh. What was I thinking?!?

Two birds, one stone?

Checkmate.

Week 2 thread, because I guess I'm Thread Guy this year.
