Random thing you love right now that doesn't deserve its own thread

The thing is the Czech Republic is a member of the EU, so if you are a citizen you can live ANYWHERE in the EU, not just in the Czech Republic.

We have researched moving to Canada recently, it is more complicated than expected, and having a school-aged kid is another factor.

Exactly.

High tide, because that's when Chinook bite.

Well, I discovered that Czechia (Czech Republic) may grant you Czech citizenship based on your ancestry, going back as far as your great-grandparents.

Had a sneaking suspicion that this wouldn't apply to me. Sure enough, descendants of Sudeten Germans are excluded.

I finally paid off the last of my student loans today. It took eight years to drop a six-figure debt to zero, which probably wasn't helped by being in the military and having a lower income than I would as a civilian. Now the only debt I have in the world is my house mortgage, which I'm reassured is something I can eliminate at any time by selling the house. I hate, hate, hate being in debt and making payments, so here's to just a little bit more financial freedom!

Congratulations! That is a big milestone. You'll notice the difference.

Congratulations, Coldstream!

I just spent the evening chatting / interviewing one of my comedy heroes. Had a show on 1990s TV here in the UK that really influenced my sense of humour and how I tell stories and jokes. Teenage me would be very happy and surprised.

I'm keen to guess who that might be.

Sean Hughes? Ade Edmonson? Steve Coogan?

All good guesses. He's probably met, knows, worked with or interviewed each of those people.

He went from hosting his own comedy to show to hosting a gameshow. It's not Barrymore.

I'm going with 1dgaf being a medium, and the interviewee being Rik Mayall.

Angus Deayton? Alex Armstrong?

Stephen Fry or David Mitchell?? (I would fanboi either of them very hard.)

No, it's not Stephen Fry. But he has worked with him. In fact, I forgot to ask him what Fry was like.

You'll win eventually. There are no losers here. Just keep on drawing your own conclusions. You might even come up with ideas in bed.

Danny Baker? If so, wowza!

Oh geez, I'm no good at these clues. It's not Danny Baker, but the chap we spoke to knows him.

Here's the final clue.

Ah. Figured it out with sleuthing, but had not heard of the gent before. Will check out some clips of his show tonight. (maybe in bed with my dinner..)

Anyway congrats! Did the old saw about meeting your heroes apply, or was he lovely?

He was really cool. Very funny and engaging. I think we spoke to him for 2.5 hours and could have kept going. It was such a relief. I would have been crestfallen if he had been an arse.

Oh - are you in Tokyo, Fenomas? If so, here's another chap that was great to speak to. He runs the Abroad in Japan channel on Youtube.

Edit

On that theme, Ive just discovered gohandesyou seaweed ...jam? Also a peppery yuzu paste that comed in a tube. Both delicious. I learned about them on the TabiEats channel.

Not familiar with the channel, but I'll have a look!

Personally I can take or leave the seaweed paste, but the yuzu stuff is the absolute bomb. If it were easier to buy my wife would put it in literally everything she cooks.

She hasn't started bringing a jar along to restaurants yet, but she's joked about it...

What is stopping the EU and and Canada from becoming like the US? Did they ban Facebook?

Just want to post I saw your question Mix, but probably best left to P&C to not pollute up this thread.

You interviewed Patrick McGoohan?! I'm jealous! Was it a seance?

Yes, we did. Line was a bit crackly, though. Here's the chap I spoke to. And there's a surprising bit of Prisoner related info he told us, too.

Wow, is your interview going to be published somewhere?

I overslept this morning. It was great!

My partner and I have started taking turns to have one lie in at the weekend. It's amazing, my body yearns for the time that just happened every weekend.

I did it for the podcast I co-host. It should be online by next week. And thanks, Eleima.

Ahh, I'm slow, didn't catch on that that was your own podcast you linked to before. Will check it out! I'm curious whether Bob was driving the actual Prisoner car in his parody.
