I have a friend that had to evacuate from Washington Co but I’m in the middle of Inner SE, the city would have to basically be leveled before I’m affected.

Good to hear. What part of Washington County? The Bald Peak fire?

Yeah.

We live on the edge of Clackamas County, and lost power twice the last few days due to high winds. The sky is very orange right now. My brother lives in Salem, and said yesterday it was like living on Mars.

Glad to hear people are alright.

Holy cow, yes. That was what it was like in Newport yesterday morning on. So scary.

Same in Lincoln City. We were there on vacation and left yesterday when it was clear the power wasn’t going to come back on and things may get worse.

Yep, that's what it looked/looks like. You add that freakish wind in there, and it does feel like you're on another planet.

Oh! I took a picture of the sand yesterday morning. Good grief, it looks like Mars.

We are due to have our second baby literally any day now so I'm hoping the world can keep things together until then.

We're in SE and doing okay, all things considered. We have friends in Clackamas who are having to check constantly if they'll need to evacuate.

The smoke and hellscape lighting are eerie though. And the risk of power going out is not good.

Clackamas Co is feeling more pressure and preparedness levels have adjusted for the worse today. Please reach out if anyone needs a hand.

Hang in there everyone. We're okay. NE Portland air has been good enough to jog the last 2 days. Newport air is clearing, so my dad and I are heading back there tomorrow early morning through the weekend since our boat and campsite are there. The main reason we bugged out where the freakish winds and those have died down.

Vancouver side of the river here. Nothing too close burning in our area, just really smokey.

Druidpeak - did you see the M fire in Bozeman? Didn’t quite hit the M itself, but went over the Bridgers to the east side. Burned a number of houses up the canyon. They got snow (!) that helped.

Oh man, was that the Bridger Canyon Fire? I saw news about it when it really blew up. I didn't know it started right at the M.

Started a bit further west on the foothills trail but then went right up and over. It missed the M itself, barely.

Anyways back to Oregon - hope everyone can stay out of the smoke and safe.

Air quality today is pretty atrocious in Hillsboro, looks like it's even worse in Portland. Stay safe everyone.

Air quality in SE is absolute dog sh*t at the moment. Praise be I moved to a place with AC and have a hepa filter fan.

Tried looking for an air filter. Add that to the list of things I should have done last month.

Same thing here. Didn't even occur to me until today to look, and you can guess how well that turned out.

My dad and I went back to our campsite in Newport. Air quality is now great here. It's cold and foggy/misty. We'll be here through Sunday before we have to go back to our respective smokey residences.

No fish today, but we cleaned the boat so it's not all ashy.

What route did you take? I'm curious how fires are in that area. I heard Lincoln City is having some folks returning.

I-5 to HWY 34 to Corvallis then HWY 20 to Newport. Got a couple level 2 alerts while driving down I-5 through Tigard and Wilsonville.

Lincoln City may have got this same marine weather in from the west that clears things up. Rain is being forecasted for early next week. Not that was all that dry to begin with this year. It was just those damnably freakish winds. Those are completely gone which is why I felt safe driving back here.

Be sure to sweep the ash off your vehicles before it rains this coming week. I'll probably make a round of blowing ash off my roof, gutters, and sides of my house with the leaf blower tomorrow.

Took a look at the fire detection data. Still some active pockets, but they aren't pushing North and West like they were earlier in the week. Beachie Creek fire is most active near where it originated and is probably in thick timber being pushed slowly to the North and East. Same with the Lionshead, which is really active north of Mt Jefferson where it linked up with the 515 fire I assume. There's still some active pockets south of the Santiam River up in the hills.

I understand that reference.

Also: I am old.

Thank God the rain came today. I missed the sky.

Yeah, today has been really nice.

It’s still not great but at least I can breath without it hurting.

Yeah - so nice to be able to get outside today (even better to get the kids out of the house for a while)

Same here. It’s so freeing to feel clean air again yesterday.

I was actually in the ER this morning with chest tightness. Maybe just high blood pressure and a panic attack in the end. This has all been so hard. I’ll be glad to have a few weekends like this when I can actually leave the house. Hopefully I level off

Hope you feel better soon DSGamer. Take care.

Anyone planning to go to any of the the Pop Up GenCon events in the area? If so, I'd love to meet up with folks somewhere.
