Playstation 4 Catch-All

Has anyone created a catch-all for Ghost of Tsushima yet? I’ve just realised it’s coming out soon and I couldn’t find one.

Just made one.

Shameless and desperately reposting.

May not be the right place for this (and please move if there is a better spot).

My PS4 controllers won’t sink anymore. I have a Launch PS4, two different controllers with the same problem.

The controllers will turn on the console and then do nothing else, and flash light blue. If I hard reset the console with the controller plugged in while it reboots, then they will work, but only until they go to sleep or the console turns off. Then it’s back to the blinking blue light. I tried resetting the controllers, but I am still having the same issue. I have even tried to plus them in and play wired but I get the same error.

I have experienced this with both controllers and have tried multiple cables. My first thought is it is the Bluetooth on the console, but why can I use the controllers to turn it on?

Anyone have any ideas?

I had a problem with both my PS4 controllers recently. I had linked them to my Steam Link. Getting them back was a challenge. I think I googled the official method for linking, and even then it took a couple of tries. It definitely wasn't as easy as using a cable, which was the first thing I tried.

Keep trying different USB cables - apparently many will not work for PS4 data.

Also make sure to try all (both?) of the USB ports on the PS4.

And try the hard PS4 reset (#3 from here).

If the controller doesn't work even while plugged in via USB, then it's definitely not a Bluetooth issue, assuming you're using a good data-capable USB cable.

Maybe. As I understand it, by default, the console will still communicate with the controller via Bluetooth even when plugged in unless you specify to use the wired connection in the settings. It's weird.

Yeah that's definitely an option in settings.

An option you can't reach without a working controller!

You can use a USB keyboard.

You can also use remote play if you have a device previously configured with your console.

You can also use the Second Screen app on a mobile device.

You could also try bribing the PlayStation gnomes that live in your console.

I too had a devil of a time repairing the controller after I had paired it with a shield
TV unit. Took a few hard resets of the controller and then connecting via USB cable to the PS4 to resynch.

Thanks for the tips. The problem is that I haven’t paired them with anything else. But I did move 12 hours. If that matters?

When I get some time, I will try the factory reset and putting a USB keyboard on it. Wish me luck.

Update: I formatted the PlayStation and now both controllers work. Thanks for the tips!

This is the second time this pandemic that I have had to save my PS4 From the brink. Somehow, I managed to fix my disk drive earlier, and now this weird software Bluetooth interrupting thing. I guess I’m going to get a launch consul again!

Have you considered a job in IT?

1. The reason I am primarily a console gamer is to not deal with this sh*t.

2. You hiring? Know a guy?

To be fair, if you got a launch edition ps4, you had almost 7 years of solid gaming out of it.

I have a weird thing going on with my account. I have active subscriptions to both PlayStation Plus and PlayStation Now, but PS+ has completely disappeared from my subscriptions list. If I go to the subscription management page on PSN, I only see PS Now.

Those of you with PS+, do you see your subscription there? Anyone else have both subscriptions? What do you see?

As you can clearly see below, I have an active subscription to PS+

I’ve been seeing the same thing for a while now. It shows up fine on the PlayStation itself. I reckon the website is just busted.

I always forget that you even can do stuff like that from the console. I think I've bought and managed my games exclusively from the web store the entire time I've had my console. I checked on the console itself, and the subscription shows up correctly there. Thanks!

With all the talk about PS5, I thought it was worth mentioning this over here:

Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Sackboy A Big Adventure, and Horizon Forbidden West will also launch on PS4.

Likewise, Deathloop from Arkane was previously confirmed for PS4.

I'm going to be switching over to a gaming monitor for the PS4. Now it's been a long time since I've gone monitor shopping! I suppose I could ask for recommendations but what are some key features I should be looking for?

HDMI and built-in speakers would be useful.

Freesync vs. G-sync?

Response time?

Refresh rate?

when I saw this a few days ago I felt a weight lifted off me. I don't think I need a PS5 until God of War 2 then and that could be way into 2021

I'm using this "down-time" to finish up my PS4 games that back been digitally stacking up for ages. I fully intend to get a PS5. But I kind of am enjoying, that it feels like there is a break for me to at least try to catch up on stuff that I haven't for this generation, if that makes any sense.

Re: PS5 playable on PS4

Aye. It's nice to have the fear of missing out fail to manifest this go around. It seems a comfortable final act is in store for PS4, where the best of our backlogs can be explored.

It's also refreshing to see less concerns than usual over this generation holding the next back. Resolution. Textures. Shadows. Loading times. They're arguably the biggest differentials, especially early on. Those who lean into visual fidelity and minimalist load times may feel irked. Those who lean into artistic design and engaging mechanics feel fine. It's less console generation and more PC settings. It was inevitable.

That is an excellent way of putting it. I am more curious about the nuts and bolts of what makes the next generation a good purchase. So, as gorgeous as the visuals are, I want to see the system in action. I am jumping into Dishonored 2, and the load-time after a dumb mistake is really frustrating. I can't wait to see how the PS5 tackles this stuff.

Vampyr one of the PS Plus games next month. This review makes it sound like it’s worth playing. The combat looks really fun.

Vampyr is one I've held a middling interest in. I'm bouncing from game to game at present so why not another.

I bounced off of it previously. I may give it another try. Cool atmosphere, but I disliked the combat.

Serves me right. I bought it on a Black Friday sale, and it's still sitting in its unopened shrink wrap on the shelf. It's also in the "Playstation Plus Collection" of games available free to PS Plus members who purchase a PS5, so there's two ways I never needed to buy it last holiday season (really, I'm glad I paid the money to Dontnod, who've put out interesting games).

I got Vampyr through the Humble Bundle a few months ago, and it was my biggest disappointment this year - videogame wise :-). Its great premise is undercut by mediocrity in every other area. There's nothing really bad in the game, but the combat is boring, the dialogue is bland, and the suspense of disbelief is laughable.

Spoiler:

you start as a recently 'created' vampire, neck-bites still visible and more blood on your clothes than in a Die Hard finale. You're being hunted by an anti-vampire cult, there's a serial killer on the loose, and you DEMAND answers everywhere you go. And still people treat you like you're an old white guy asking for directions to the golf club.
