I love games with good writing, but I have mixed thoughts about the plotting. I find myself wondering, "If I'm just here to see how the story ends, do I really think it will be better than a prose novel, or a graphic novel, or a movie? Is it worth the much higher price tag and much longer time commitment?" I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one who draws the distinction.
Of course now I've just started Xenoblade Chronicles, a story-heavy RPG, so I'm asking myself that again.
Um, yeah, I should check in with the Battletech thread. I've played it before and I was in the middle of a career mode campaign when it started, and I wasn't sure if I wanted to start over. So I sat down to play the first mission to help me decide. It just covers the basics; I can zip through this with a mouse in one hand and a cocktail in the other.
Maybe it was the cocktail, but I got a little too caught up in dismantling the enemy 'Mechs and didn't pay attention to shutting down the turrets like the game tries to tell me. Suddenly, one of those turrets blew my main character's 'Mech into scrap. Restart.
I was 95% sure that the topic was just an excuse to talk more about Blaseball and was somewhat disappointed that it wasn't discussed. The filling in of gaps that the community has done in their discord and wiki is amazing and weird. I love it.

After recording, this was heartily agonized about. We did Blaseball a disservice, and for that I am deeply sorry.
The commissioner, who is doing a great job, announced on Twitter that Internet League #Blaseball will be on Siesta for at least one more season as league-wide repairs + innovations are implemented. I can't believe how obsessed I have become about a game I haven't even been able to play, yet. Lovejoy is a monster!

Oh yay, you read my email! And no worries, I thought the whole thing was hilarious once the shock wore off, that’s why I wrote in! I’m still trying to remember, but I don’t think that had EVER happened to me, I usually coast right on through.
Incidentally, I got a little confused but I might have to go back and give it another listen but what’s this about Life Is Strange being a horror game with a critter? Was it maybe Stranger Things? I got very confused. I wholly agree that the monster is a lot scarier when you can’t see it, though. I mean... look at Jaws (or rather, don’t look at Jaws, but you know what I mean).
Or the first, and scariest, Alien movie. Terrifying thanks to mostly hiding the monster throughout the film. One of they very few movies that still scares even though I have seen it a million times.

I just wanted to say I could relate so much to Rich's feelings about exercise. I have been using 20-25 minute sessions of Beat Saber to blow some steam off while having fun and it is great. I need to get serious and play Ring Fit Adventure, though.
