Rocket League Catch All

https://www.rocketleague.com/news/in...

New RLCS format details explained. It’s a lot so let me just sum it up by saying:
- more pro tournaments
- more overall money (4.5+ million)
- more teams competing

Still nothing official detailed about the “big update to Rocket League later this summer”. I’ve previously mentioned what I think it is and there isn’t a ton of summer left so hopefully we hear something this month.

They also haven’t said when the current ranked season ends. They have implied seasons would be around 3 months long and coincide with Rocket Pass which would imply its ending in mid July but if that was true I’d expect some news by now.

I'm a little surprised they haven't announced the end of season 14 yet. I decided to take a break from Rocket League but might start playing again once the new season starts. Actually, I guess I should make sure I have all my credits unlocked from the current rocket pass before it ends so I can purchase the next rocket pass.

You have a couple weeks left on current Rocket Pass and with the 5 year anniversary event going on (with gold eggs) it's a good time to play some if you want items.

RL matches are way more fun when your teammates are ready to send and receive passes

Season 14 and Rocket Pass are being extended a bit until the big summer update arrives. Still implied it is coming in late July.

Sounds like they are adding and rebalancing ranks.

I bought the tux. We should all have it for formal occasions. In the shop for $1, I think it's gone this afternoon sometime.

ROCKET LEAGUE GOING FREE TO PLAY THIS SUMMER

Finally!

Cross platform finally.

Probably still can't use Mario and Luigi hats from Switch on PC. But hopefully most other items will work.

Looking forward to the Epic account across platforms so my Switch play can actually count for something

no more input lag problems for panda's xbox alts. now if they could just fix server problems before ftp update. I know, I know, pipe dream.

I very much hope they make it so that new accounts can’t go directly into ranked. Smurfing from console accounts is way too easy and if Epic lets you make new accounts easily then PC smurfing will be just as bad.

Overwatch makes you play a bunch of casual on a new account before you can play ranked. That would make sense for RL as well.

Possibly a little bit of humor included, please don't hate me. kthx.

Loved it

Anyone playing Rocket League on Switch these days? With joy-cons or other controller?

Maybe when it goes FTP.

Anyone use ultra wide resolution? Thinking of getting a new monitor:

I'm waiting for the universal account before I do much more on the Switch, but once it's in place I think I'll play solo on Switch a lot more, probably with the Pro controller. But I doubt I'll be on Switch when playing in the evenings.

I really want a handheld Rocket League I can roam around the house and on the deck but I can’t play on those joycons. I need a real controller. Lots of switch games play fine on joycons and I use a Satisfye grip to make it even better but Rocket League is frustrating to me on joycons. Is there a joycon replacement that feels like a full controller? Maybe the HORI Split Pad Pro?

I was looking around at other handhelds out there to see if any have a control feel closer to what I expect but haven’t found anything obviously good. Also, the PC version of Rocket League really hates low end hardware after the dx11 update so you kinda need a lot of power to even get a stable 60fps.

I’m hoping that one day Rocket League comes to mobile. I have a phone mount that attaches to an Xbone controller and it actually works quite well. I play xCloud on it and stream some pc games to it as well but streaming adds just enough latency to Rocket League to make it frustrating. If they release a native mobile version that plays right on the phone and I mount that on my controller it could be great. 120hz phones exist these days!

You could look into this one, though I don't have any experience with it or know anyone who has.

Performance wise, I've played handheld after it launched and it was okay, but I don't think i'll ever do much more than mess around or play a few casual rounds on Switch, especially handheld. There is also a Pro Controller mount like this one you could try, though it may not feel as portable. I actually have that one and it works well enough, though the weight and balance of it is a bit off for my taste. I much prefer the form factor of the pure handheld with the Satisfye grip, joycons and all. But with more RL, who knows. Thing I'll personally miss most are the undercarriage buttons on the Steam Controller...

Spikeout got one of those pro controller mounts. Been waiting for him to post impressions in Switch thread for weeks now.

How To Never Miss An Open Net Again In Rocket League

Anyone know if the new cross-platform account play also means cross-platform trading? My son is hoping that that is the case.

They detailed it a bit more today:
https://www.rocketleague.com/news/cr...

- you link your platform accounts to an Epic account
- most of your inventory (merged from each platform) now spans across all your platform accounts. some cant yet. some may later.
- you can't trade across platforms but you can load up your account on the other platform and then trade so if you have items on PS4 and you want to trade them to someone on PC you have to link your PS4 account to an Epic account then launch the game on PC to trade.
- if you link multiple platforms together you have to pick your "primary" so it knows which account to get your rank and level and pass progress from
- credits do not span accounts and stay on the platform you bought them on
- brand new accounts can't trade without having bought some credits. mostly likely to slow down scammers.

i was looking into the Chinese free to play RL a bit recently and i noticed in the Chinese version you cannot play ranked on a new account right away. you have to level up your account first. that's a good first step to reduce smurfing. not sure that will apply to our free to play version but i hope so. would be nice if they applied that rule across all platforms as well so it wasn't so easy to smurf on consoles.

the Chopper EG wheels you get for linking your accounts:

what the linking process might look like:

Is it actually done in game? Figured it would be on the web like Fortnite, Warframe, etc.
