20XX is a great Megaman knockoff if you like those

Yeah I had it on my Steam wishlist actually, so went ahead and installed from free Epic yesterday. Going to dive in this weekend I think.

Rocket Arena is free this weekend on Steam (and Origin?), and discounted to $5 on Origin. Someone else can chime in about consoles if they want. I played for a couple hours last night, and plan to jump back in tonight / Saturday. It was pretty fun so far, but not sure about legs.

How about one better Rocket Arena standard edition free on Xbone/PS/Origin, via Wario 64 on Twitter. Crazy since it's only a few weeks old, but matches can be found fairly quickly.

Reading the replies, those all ran out about an hour ago, tomayto.

Note that it’s a randomized platformer, not a fixed level game. Not a knock against it, but definitely a different feel from Megaman.

Anyone interested in a scenario-based fantasy wargame with a good story and interesting battles - they even have decision points in many of them, to make choices that change the battle, during it - Fantasy General 2 is out for PS4 and XBox One. Well worth it.

Is that Fantasy as in dragons, wizards and such? Or fantasy as in imagination of real world events?
How is it compared to Fantasy General of the dos (win95?) days?

It's a sequel to that game and fantasy as in elves and sh*t.

Direct sequel to it. You start as a rising star in your tribe, out to prove yourself, and become enmeshed in the local events, involving other tribes, racial animus, invasions and incursions, and so forth. There is some agency in the choices you make, but they primarily lead to new unit types or bonuses or leaders, stuff like that. Still, a very well done game once you get the mechanics down.

Treachery in Beatdown City is free on (or I guess included with) Twitch Prime.

Also, Blazing Chrome, Chroma Squad (is there a theme here?), Warsaw, and the new Shaq Fu game (lol).

Don't forget Metal Slug 2.
SNK 40th Anniversary is also on this month's list, and quite interesting. It's a collection of games and I recognize a few titles and they have arcade and console versions of games where appropriate. Guerrilla War is the stand-out better on console game for me, based on having childhood memories of the NES game (and it seems only a bit more janky than what I remember) and college memories attempting the Arcade on MAME. It's an ok game, that is just nuts with explosions and the ending has some funny animations in it, not just a congratulations screen. Plus Crystalis is in there, too.

Plus quite a few other free Twitch Prime games this month (or half-way through July and I missed them until now.

Frog Fractions: Game of the Decade Edition is free on Steam.
I haven't played it, but I hear it is a good game converted to steam from one of those flash sites.

It's up there with Plug & Play as one of the weirdest games I've ever played.

Just played Frog Fractions for a bit.
I agree with pandasuit. Weird stuff.

Picross S, S2, S3, & a couple more Picross games by the same developer for Switch are on sale, matching previous best prices. Note S4 is not on sale. Since I'm about done with the main part of S, I think I'll pick up S2.

Codemasters F1 2018 is free for a limited time on Humble Bundle.

Was surprised to learn I already had F1 2015 and F1 2019. Now F1 2018 added to the collection.

I don't plan on playing them but that's not the point. Right?

Looks like I played a surprising amount of 2015.

I want to recommend Mutazione for $12.75 on Humble. Really lovely narrative adventure with a contemplative gardening minigame embedded in it.

Thanks for the recommendation Pink Stripes. I picked up Mutazone for free from the Epic Store back in March, I'll check it out.
