Video Game Deals Catch-All

Regenerating $10 coupons during sales may be the cleverest thing the Epic Store has done. It’s certainly worked much better than free games as a way of getting me to spend money.

I was saving my coupon from the last sale in hope that the Mechwarrior 5 DLC will come out before the coupon expires, but knowing I’ll get another coupon is making it significantly more likely that I’ll buy Ooblets.

(Also, juxtaposing Mechwarrior 5 and Ooblets makes for quite a contrast. )

This sale doesn't have regenerating coupons, but your old coupon from the last sale still works.

So I grabbed Gathering Storm with the coupon that brought it down to just $10. I have Civ VI + Rise and Fall on Steam but Epic just threw Civ VI at me. That means I have Civ VI + GS on Epic but not Rise and Fall. Does the game feel incomplete that way? I dont remember the Rise and Fall mechanics being... memorable.

You generally get the previous expansions for free if you buy a new expansion in Civ games.
The only thing you miss is the civilizations themselves (and some natural wonders + city states apparently, not that important)

Humble best of Paradox Interactive Bundle

tl,dr: Stellaris/ EU IV / BattleTech / Tyranny / Necropolis / AOWIII / Victoria collection / Warlock MotA for 12 $

Also Humble Space sale.

Looks like similar prices to Steam sale recently but a nice selection of games.

So using my 10usd coupon from the last sale, AC: Odyssey comes down to $10.61 usd..... worth the risk? Dont have a lot of time to game, but this world seems pretty atractive... have played some of the first AC (loved AC 2, and is the only one I invested the time to get to the end), dont have a beefy PC, only with a 1050 ti, and an i5 at 3.0ghz, 8gb RAM), so worth it???,
played fine CONTROL with this PC(lower settings, but playable):

AC:Odyssey's gameplay is a lot more like The Witcher 3 than like the first few Assassin's Creeds. If you're ok with that, it's a darned fine entry in the AC franchise; might even be my favorite one.

Play as Kassandra.

WAMOTA! "Very Positive" on Steam.

I already own all of those except Vicky, but maybe it's time to dust off WAMOTA again. I had fun with it.

yes, yes, yes.

Yes. At that price it is worth it. Heck if you get burned out after 2 hours you have still paid less per hour than a movie ticket.

And it is quite fun so I bet you play more than two hours.

AC: Odyssey hooked me more than any other game has for a couple years; it was great. It's not really an AC game, and dumps a lot of the pointless crap I hated like forced stealth missions, escort missions, and all the baggage of the "mythology". Great game.

Ok, just started playing it, with not a lot of expectations and the least I thought I'd like was the story, but Kassamdra may be one of the best developed characters, and taking decisions assuming Im living in that world. First hour has already payed off the investment.
Thanks.

A cautionary note before you get too far in: whatever you do, don't try to rush through AC Odyssey. The game is paced assuming that you do some side activities in addition to the main quest. Activities like hunting cultists and mercenaries are tied in with the main quest, and the game assumes you continue doing that stuff even when the main quest doesn't require it.

If you don't do a few side activities, you will find yourself stuck having to level up before you can continue the main quest. No need to obsess over it, just pick up a few side quests and maybe do a conquest battle as you go through each area. There are a lot of side quests that are "on the way" towards main quest objectives, so they're easy to pick up. The game has lots of different activities that grant XP, so it is likely you will find one that you enjoy.

A few of the side quests are quite involved, with their own characters and brief stories in parallel with the main quests. On the flip side, the game also has a few side quests that are fairly perfunctory or outright boring for some people. If you run into one of those, just don't finish it. Unfortunately you can't remove a quest from your list, but there's no requirement to complete every quest you start. Assignments you pick up from misthios boards will time out eventually, but the ones you pick up from side characters will stay. (BTW, most of the message board quests and open world quests that aren't indicated by a gold icon fall into the "perfunctory" category. Those quests mainly exist for people who want to level up quickly, and they aren't much more than directed grinding.)

Have fun!

Wait. There are people who don't hit max level before the second boss??

There are also tombs you can raid through the world that offer skill tree points for free. My 2nd playthrough I hit those all up rather early. Enjoy it's a..... Odyssey!

The one thing I never, ever tired of was taking out forts; once you get the upgrade to where a silent kill causes the body to vanish I'd just stealthily move through the fort taking it out silently, and it was great. Alternatively, I'd just charge in, climb the tower with the warning fire, and giddily Spartan Kick everybody off the platform as they tried to attack me. Good times. I didn't prioritize that ability until a bit later in the game and regretted it, as sending people flying off the sides of towers, walls, and boats never stopped being hilarious.

Oh yeah spartan kick is op. It's so fun. Kick fools off everything.

I forget what they're called (Phylakes from Origins), but the bounty hunters in Odyssey can't take fall damage worth a sh*t. I kicked one off about a 3-story ledge, who was 10 levels higher than me, and he died instantly.

Even if your fighting on a slight hill and kick them downhill they will fly back and have a similar high fall death.

Penny's Path is free on itch.io.
Women and witchcraft

Its a visual novel about the history of women practicing witchcraft.

There are a bunch of classic SNK arcade games for free on Twitch Prime

20XX, Barony, and Sword and Sworcery EP are free on epic.

I'm in for that last one.

Also in for SB S&S. Was on my steam wish list for a while

Will probably check out Barony as well

HumbleBundle is having a VR sale. Discounts aren't necessarily great, but there ARE discounts.

Rocket Arena is free this weekend on Steam (and Origin?), and discounted to $5 on Origin. Someone else can chime in about consoles if they want. I played for a couple hours last night, and plan to jump back in tonight / Saturday. It was pretty fun so far, but not sure about legs.

20XX is a great Megaman knockoff if you like those
