The championship was just bonkers tonight, and Liverpool and Chelsea did their best to join in with the madness as well. Pulisic is some player I’ll say that, but unless Chelsea invest in some decent defenders they are also going to be also rans, not proper challengers.

Congrats to Leeds and West Brom, and well played Swansea. Wigan came mighty close but not quite in the end. Got to feel sorry for them.

Not the way anyone should want this season’s presentation’s to be like but at least we got there. For a while I was very worried it just wasn’t going to happen.

Edit: Weird as hell seeing a trophy lift without any fans in the ground but god dammit if I’m not crying. Again.

I think Liverpool might finally be sober. I don't have any live sports TV at the moment. But I'm sure I will see it on YouTube eventually.

September 12th for start of the next EPL season.

Sounds kinda fast but honestly between the break that already happened + 1.5 months break after that seems long enough.

Fine by me also. Been enjoying having it back on as a distraction from the world ending.

Also no international competition this summer to tire out players even further, so might as well.

Seven yellow cards and a red card in the first half is a strong effort, France, but I'm still not watching your cup final.

Leicester-Manchester United should be fun today. Could decide a Champions League place and whether Brendan Rodgers has another epic collapse on his hands.

Booooo.

Quick 2 Chelsea goals before half and Wolves are in trouble.

And Spurs up 1-0; I love it when a plan comes together!

Arsenal are so much fun. Unless you're an Arsenal fan.

Goodbye Watford, goodbye Bournemouth.

Disappointed Spurs didn't get a win, but we did still finish 6th, the best position available.

Now watching the Houston Dash playing Chicago for the NWSL championship this year.

Well, roll onto next year, which...

And Houston wins 2-0, with the only goal from play scored by Fightin' Texas Aggie Shea Groom!

Juve makes it nine in a row, but the real highlight here is Higuain showing how infuriating it must be to play with Ronaldo.

Samp featuring a favoured (former Juve) player of mine who never quite turned into the world class player I hoped for when he was younger - Fabio Quagliarella.

If you want to read something utterly nuts, check out this long piece on Quagliarella's experience with a stalker.

Final standings for this year's Fantasy League (last year's, for comparison).

Congrats to SecretAsianMan on his victory, and on a successful title defense.

I see what you're doing there...

Last Fulham save I had in FM, the first thing I did was get rid of Neeskens Kebano and I never really used Josh Onomah.

That's me an idiot, then.

COYW!

Huh. Well, way to go Brentford.

Fulham, consider that a warning.

West London Derby?

Actually caught the first bit and Brentford were flying.

I was hoping for a Welsh derby but west London would do just fine.

But all the teams in the playoffs were ones I would like to see promoted so I'm fine with anything.

The Newcastle takeover is off.

https://twitter.com/SkySports_Keith/...

BREAKING: The Saudi-backed consortium led by Amanda Staveley has formally withdrawn it’s bid to buy Newcastle United. They say the amount of time the takeover has taken, coupled by global uncertainty, has forced them to pull out of the deal #NUFCTakeover

I'm kind of relieved? Of course it was held up due to piracy/TV rights and not human rights but at least there won't be Newcastle fans stanning for MBS.

Though relegation looks very, very likely.

I COULD BE ENJOYING THIS A LOT MORE

oh thank god

Eh, congratulate me after next Tuesday.

Will you sleep between now and then?

I am a Knicks fan. I am so used to disappointment that it'd take something spectacular for Fulham to break my heart.

Plus, we were here two years ago. My hopes here are either:

A - "Hooray! We're promoted! Let's not completely f*ck it up this time!"
B - "Uuuuuuuuuuuuugh. Another season of this crap."

Meanwhile.....

Newcastle fans 'confused and heartbroken' by takeover collapse

Okay, okay, like, i'm being charitable, and I get it. Ashley is a dingus, and they would like any new owner, much less one with literally limitless cash. But c'mon, the Saudis? Surely you can find someone other than the Saudis.

Not to defend the Saudis but from a fans perspective do you care who the owner is when you win?

Owners come and go really. So if the Saudis poured money in, got them somewhat competitive, won something, then got bored and sold. Not sure if geordies would really care 30 odd years from now.

Well, you're probably right. There are a lot of factors that could lead to that. First up, loyalty to your club, and a sense of needing to defend them. Also, there's the precedent of City, and some don't care for Chelsea's owner, either. With CAS having seemingly given City a free pass to do whatever they like, it would be easy for people to say "Welp, City got away with it. I guess this is the new standard for competitive clubs."

Speaking of Chelsea, FA Cup Final is tomorrow morning!

So, the feeling in Newcastle is mostly resigned disappointment I’d say - people were dreaming on being the next Manchester City, but there’s also not much sense of shocked outrage the Saudi’s have pulled out. A few of the more moderate fans I’d also say there’s a quiet feeling of relief that’s it not gone through.

All of that is tempered by the fact they just want Ashley gone. There’s some disquiet about this American who wants to buy the club as nobody knows who he is and he doesn’t have a track record of running a sports team. That said he’s supposed to an admirer of FSG at Liverpool and wants to model his approach on them. If he’s got the cash and he’s willing to spend it then they’ll welcome him with open arms.
