Post a Picture of Your Silly Purchase of the Month.

That's really cool. We were starting to look into that but I think we'll just swing by your place and make up our own dialogue from a safe social distance

Custom salmon flags! I had originally bought a blank flag from Elmer's and did iron on vinyl which eventually fell apart. This time, I had Elmer's do a couple custom ones, and they're really nice.

What's the intended purpose, tuffalo?

We fly it in the boat my dad and I made whenever we catch a salmon.

We have the one I made with iron-on vinyl, but it's falling apart.

Do goats eat salmon?

Yes.

I still think that's an amazing project/boat you built tuffalo!

Ha! I forgot about that joke!

Yes, that's the joke I was making, too.

Ga! I get it now.

So our work office was supposed to be moving, then the pandemic happened and our space we were going to fell through. We ended up just deciding to go full virtual for now and move out of the old office, putting things in storage, donating, or taking things home. No one had a place for it other than me, so, while it's not a purchase, I sure got a silly thing:

Full X-Arcade cabinet with dual-tankstick and rollerball.

It comes with a sh*tty Dell PC set up for emulation of a bunch of stuff (and all the discs for legally licensing the games on it!) but I'm planning on redoing it with a Pi emulator setup, just haven't had the chance to work on it yet.

Looks like a blast of a project! Enjoy

That's super cool! Keep us updated, so that storage space deprived goodjers like me can enjoy some second hand arcade project goodness

Mame cabs are always fun. Kinda miss the (4-player) one I put together 15 16 years ago. Don't miss the space it took up, or how heavy it was, being made of 3/4" MDF, with a desktop PC, subwoofer, and 21" CRT monitor. Probably 100+ lbs heavier than it would need to be today.

I've resigned myself to driving my 14 year old car into the ground as I build up the down payment for its eventual replacement, so I'm replacing some of the more obviously worn out parts--the leather nose mask that had tattered and torn (en route), the rear view mirror with its patchy reflective edges, wrapping the steering wheel in a new OEM leather wrap (poorly, but it'll do), and priciest of them, replacing this factory unit:

wrapping the steering wheel in a new OEM leather wrap (poorly, but it'll do),

Two years ago I bought this steering wheel wrap and I just love it to pieces. It looks good and it feels good, though it's not real leather.

(For years I had a godawful vinyl wrap on it, the kind full of holes with a plastic cord you wrap around the whole thing, found it at Autozone. It was trash but I have some weird sensitivity/allergic reaction to the materials my steering wheel is made of so I had to have something.)

The original, I guess non-leather leather-like plastic, surface of the wheel was flaking off and becoming unpleasant to touch, thus the wrap. I rather like this one, especially after the work it took to stretch it around the wheel itself, but I might pick up the one you've mentioned so I have some thread for a second attempt at getting it properly tightened. I'm not sure how it's supposed to secure tightly around the spokes though.

I'd think you would want a CDC radio during these times.

As that's my podcast app of choice showing through CarPlay on the 10" screen, and CDC Radio appears to be available as an RSS feed, I think I'm good?

The only negative thing I have to say about it is that the installation instructions didn't come with the product; the last image on the Amazon product page explain how to install it.

Nice Accord. I have a 2006 of my own that I also plan to drive into the ground. I just finished upgrading my stereo not all that long ago myself.

I thought the aftermarket stereo market had all but disappeared.

It is alive and thriving my friend.

I'm slightly tempted to rip out the stock radio in my Jeep Renegade and replace it with a CarPlay-enabled head unit, but to maintain current functionality (the stock unit is a small touchscreen used to toggle a lot of the car's settings, as well as the backup camera) it would take hundreds of dollars of custom work, in addition to the aftermarket head unit itself.

Funny enough I thought a lot about this on a recent road trip and I'm more tempted to just buy a cheap Amazon Fire tablet along with a CarPlay dongle and permanently mount it to my dashboard

Downside is that if you rely on steering-wheel controls, they're not going to integrate with that. I didn't even have a line input that I could use, so that wasn't even an option.
