On the other hand most of the people who will watch it probably aren’t aware of Oregon’s history.
In all honesty I was only referring to her name being an oncoming storm for everyone.
The 2019 Child's Play showed up in my "you might like this" list, so I tried it out. It's about as dumb as you would expect. It has a few laughs. Honestly the only reason I kept watching was that I love Aubrey Plaza's work, but even she is not allowed to do her best in this movie.
Definitely weird to see Aubrey Plaza as a mom, though. Bryan Tyree Henry as the cop son of the nana next door stole the show for me. He is great in this.
As a camp meditation on the increasing role of technology in everyday life (as some critics took it), Child's Play fails utterly.

I mean, she's 36 years old.
I didn't care too much for the movie either but I was kinda happy to see her get to play a character that isn't the oddball bestie or the weird awkward girlfriend like she gets 90% of the time.

Have you seen Ingrid Goes West? It is on Hulu, I believe, and it is fantastic. It's a pitch-black comedy, but if you love her, I bet you will dig it.
I think the problem I had with "Aubrey Plaza as a mom" in Child's Play was less about her age and the kind of roles she gets, and more that for whatever reason, she didn't get to play it very differently. I don't know if it was her or the director or the script, but she still had the standard Plaza-esque snark and attitude. There are a few scenes where a little of something else shines through and those were the best.
Oh my gosh! Anthony Bourdain's first (I think) show, A Cook's Tour is on Amazon Prime Instant. I didn't know that show even existed. It's more of the same. Good way to chill out and see some other food cultures.

I know two or three moms who might not quite be running a full Aubrey Plaza, but are at least 75%.
New The Boys Season 2 trailer:
September 4, 3 episodes drop, then it's one per week.
The Vast of the Night is fantastic!!!
I have not yet watched it but Joseph Gordon Levitt has a movie where he is a pilot sending a distress signal.
Just looked it up, 7500 is the name. Looks neat. Hope to watch it soon.
The Vast of the Night is fantastic!!!
I really enjoyed it also. I watched Cosmos right after and also enjoyed it!
The Vast of the Night is fantastic!!!
I had heard great things about it on The /Filmcast, so I am excited to watch it. When I pulled it up last night, I saw it had an average of three starts. Trust me, this doesn't prevent me from watching things that I want to watch. But it did surprise me.

Yeah, I'd trust that about as much as average Yelp reviews.
I really liked The Vast of Night to a certain point.
Part of me felt pretty let down by one specific part, but I really think that was more a symptom of my mood at the time and almost nothing to do with the actual movie. I've noticed I get a lot less enjoyment from stories of a particular type right now, and this is one of those. I feel like I can't go into more detail without thpoilerth, in this case, but given the average viewer's tendencies and how the movie works and where it goes, I am not surprised by the average rating.
If we were not living in a hellworld in which we are all increasingly more and more worn out and tired, I expect I'd be raving about that movie to everyone that would listen to me about it.
It's very worth watching.

Oh, same, I definitely plan to watch this in the near future.
Damn you all, I just added three movies to my massive Prime watchlist.
And I'm going to be watching Hamilton on auto-repeat all weekend, so I really don't know when I'll have the time.

Vast of the Night is short and sweet! I actually really appreciated how tight it was, especially because it's a slower, more deliberate movie.
Yep, that was a pretty amazing directorial debut. The only thing that was kind of a drag on my viewing was that Amazon kept dropping back to lower resolution. I may rewatch it if I can download it at 1080p.
All the "top critics" on RT gave it positive reviews, too.
Watched The Vast of Night yesterday. I didn't know anything about the movie coming in, other than it was supposed to be good, and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
S2 of Hannah is good. I have a couple issues with it but overall i liked it.
Guns akimbo was a fun movie.
Over the last couple of days my wife and I have watched 7500, with Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and Color Out of Space, my first Nicolas Cage movie since 2010's Kick-Ass. We found both of them very enjoyable, and would recommend them.
Ha! Somebody snuck in a Sexwitch track in a car scene in Hanna S2E4.
Yellek and I binged The Boys this weekend. Looking forward to season 2.

If you want Cage psychodelic horror may I recommend Mandy? It's on hoopla if your library offers that service.

I've been wondering about Mandy for a while now. I might need to check it out, so thanks for the suggestion!

It's bananas. I checked it out after Allen pitched it on the podcast. Watch the preview and see if it's for you. Gets weird but I loved it.
That trailer looks... red and... insane. I'll have to check it out!
I watched Mandy at a viewing party with twenty friends and lots of weed and it was brilliant.
