Monster Hunter World Catch-All

I had a good time running around the Guiding Lands with you tonight! It's really my favorite way to play MH; run around, fight whatever you see, faints don't really matter.

Don't Eff with those monkeys! Lesson Learned!

I have a new shotgun, and I need some fresh monsters today to test it on!

Anyone remember the Cobra Buzz Boar?

You should post that death screen!

You mean this one, with my dishonorable spiky death? IMAGE(https://i.imgur.com/cwgEEmq.jpg)

Is your name Kenny? Because next week, you'd better have those Logins.

It's our last Monday before Alatreon hits! It feels like this guy has been hanging over our heads for ages now. And looking back, the initial reveal trailer was March 21, so that's not too far off the mark. These last three months have been ten years long.

PS4, 5pm PST, good times.

I might be able to make it this week. Looking forward to it!

Alatreon has quite a learning curve, but once you figure out how to avoid his telegraphed attacks, he has some pretty big openings to deal damage.

If anybody's up for some PC hunts, I'm available most of the weekend.

I thought I was out, but then everyone put on Carnival costumes and pulled me back in. More Monster Hunting? Monday, PS4, about 5-8 PST. I wouldn't mind doing some of the event quests that grant large crowns, but if you're feeling up to Kulve Taroth or Alatreon, I am there for you!

I should be able to be there tonight for about an hour (but will need to leave at 9 EST). I might show up a bit early, in case anyone wants to join. Not sure what I'm in the mood for.

Another Monday, another Monster Hunter Monday on PS4!

It's been slow, admittedly, but I really like the people who do show up to get a few hunts in. It's probably trailing off, though.

So, I think a good milestone is Iceborne's anniversary! I'll keep showing up on Monday until the end of the anniversary festivals, the end of September. After that, it may not be my regular thing, but I'm still down to play whenever I'm online!

Keeping this going until the end of September sounds like a good idea! If all goes well, I should be able to show up tonight.

And here we are! Tonight's supposed to be our last regular Monster Hunter Monday.

In actuality, with Fatalis coming out, I still have a little more to do before I can put World to rest. So I'll definitely show up on the 5th, and maybe the week after that, too.

It's been a good run! Not just MH Mondays, but Monster Hunter World as a whole. It's almost certainly been the defining game of the generation for me.

Arise!

Is this a game that 2 people can play together and be successful or do you have to have more to kill the bosses?

Absolutely. Many of us play the game entirely solo. Monster health scales to 1, 2, and 4 players, so only 3 player hunts have a disadvantage.

The main issue to be aware of for co-op play is in first-time story hunts. It will not let you join the other person until both players have seen the story cutscene, so most of the story quest require you to join separately, get to the introductory cutscenes before battle, and then have one player quit out to rejoin the other. It's annoying, but if you're playing on a system with an SSD, it doesn't take too long.

Keep in mind there are story missions that do require you to encounter and fight the monster first, as there will be a cut-scene partway through. Even more rare but is still an issue are the missions with a cut-scene after you've defeated the monster, and therefore can't co-op on your first time playing at all.

At least, that's how it felt to me for some of the missions. Perhaps I was doing something slightly wrong, but we were trying to follow the game's directions.

You were not. It was a silly design choice that I have to imagine they will fix in the sequel if they don't use the traditional Village/Hub structure that they returned to for Rise.

Thinking I'm going to try this soon since I got it free with PS5, and wait for Rise later.

Thanks for the input. You just saved my friend some cash.

Heads up Hunters! It’s time to Return to World. Wilds is next year, so if you wanna get your hunt on in World and Iceborne, this is probably the last year in which to do it.

For those who might be a little intimidated by MHW’s character as an action RPG, as a “World Baby,” let me reassure you that it’s not as hard of a game as most people assume. You don’t need super fast reflexes. You don’t need amazing timing. “Good enough” will do. If you can play the easy tracks in Guitar Hero, you have enough reflexes to be good in MHW.

In many of the most important ways, MHW is almost like a JPG - it’s almost turn-based. The monster attacks, then goes into recovery animation. That’s when you attack (if you weren’t hit, that is). Once you finish, you read your defenses, and the monster attacks again.

Of course, the game isn’t quite that simple, but you already expected that. Monsters “cheat” by “taking more turns” or by defending their turns in various ways, or by doing attacks so powerful and hard to defend that you need to use your “turn” to recover. And you can do the same, of course. You can “cheat,” too.

I should probably jump back to finally complete Iceborne and get them platinums before too long.

Good luck, those gold crowns are a gigantic pain in the ass. Unless you play on PC with access to mods
