Random thing you loathe right now.

Use one of those "gum health", non-alcohol based mouthwashes, the kind they recommend after oral surgery. Those do the trick for me in that situation.

Finger cuts are the worst and are extremely nagging. A friend brought his 2 month old kitten over last Friday for 4-5 hours. It was totally awesome but I am left with the gift of random kitty scratches on my fingers, ankles and elbows. Thankfully, only a handful of them broke skin.

Got a new iPhone yesterday, and convincing iTunes to send all my music to the phone has been... stupidly complicated for some reason.

I could have saved myself some trouble by just syncing the new phone with the old one, and I tried that, but there were some issues with the new phone not finding service, or the service being very unreliable. No idea if starting from scratch will fix that. Lucky for me the mall across the street just opened, and I can do there to get a new SIM card if I a reset does not fix the reception issue. If the phone is the issue, then there is also an Apple store in the mall.

Still, way more trouble than I thought it would be.

Today is Windows Reinstall Day for my work laptop. I've already come to terms with the fact that I'm not going to get anything done today aside from install all the things that I need to, you know, do my job.

Blech.

I am NEVER buying from Newegg again!
They had a great deal on a Dyson vacuum. I bought it. It was supposed to ship within 3 days. A over a week later Newegg autocanceled it because it did not ship within 3 days. @ days later I bought the next model up from Newegg. It processed my card and said that it would ship tomorrow. It shipped today.

Dyson I guess ignored the autocancelation and changed the original order to preparing to ship. I tried to cancel the new order well before it shipped, but it shipped anyways. I am now going to call Newegg since the original order is still in the "preparing to ship" phase for 2 days. They had better cancel it.

I will note that this is my first experience with Newegg "marketplace" and Dyson. I have avoided Dyson since their inception because they charge 2x or 3x what a product would cost. But this was more than 50% off so I bit. Never again Dyson nor Newegg.

edit: I guess it says I can refuse the shipment if they don't cancel the original order. If they do not cancel the first order before it ships (since the second order has shipped) I will refuse that order when it arrives.
Of course in the meantime, I have been charged for both and have no vacuum. I am so pissed, I am half tempted to refuse both!

Sounds like a NewEgg problem. I've bought several Dyson products from them (and resellers) on Amazon, and never had any issues.

The price differential is real, of course, but so is the value. Bought my first one in 1994, I think, and replaced it about 7 years ago. I replaced it because I wanted a ball head, and the old ones didn't have it. It ended up at my Kung Fu school in everyday use and is still going. This is an engineer's vacuum. It is the suckiest of all vacuums, too.

Sounds like a marketplace problem. I have never had an issue with things bought from Newegg themselves. Not once in 14 years.

Yeah, just like Amazon, I don't trust any of the 3rd-party "marketplace" things without researching how well they actually do.

I've had nothing but good experiences w newegg. Even the times i had to do returns (a dead memory stick, and a tower case the shipper was apparently playing soccer with) they were courteous and fast.

I know I'm a broken record complaining about how much I loathe the process of quitting smoking. But man, I hate quitting smoking. I'm sucking on a nicorette lozenge right now to curb cravings and it's just bloody awful. Ugh. It's now been 5 days since my last cigarette and I am just struggling. Here's hoping I can stay strong and kick this habit.

You can do it!

Kick ass ThatGuy42!

I'm on the weight loss journey and I'm sure quitting is harder but I think they have some similarities. This too will pass I guess.

Noisy neighbor kids.

FIREWORKS.

Wow, I guess I’m craving some quiet.

We got vents on our roof fixed today so we shouldn’t have rain coming in anymore (yay!)

BUT.....

It somehow knocked out our AC. No power to thermostat. We added batteries so we are able to see the temp now (84) but we haven’t been able to get someone out here. May be Monday. It’s hot.

Made a spur of the moment decision to accept a longer shift at work. Woke up at 6 to do some Reno work on my house (hanging a joist, laying some brick), then pulled carts outside in 95 degree heat for 6 hours.

It is now 10:48 and I am very much regretting staying late, even if I am just doing parking lot security. I’ve been ready to collapse into bed for the last couple of hours.

Cat is freaked out from the fireworks and hiding in the back of the couch.

Ours handled them okay, because the close ones weren't that loud, and the loud ones weren't that close.

Hated the window rattling ones.

Get off my nicely mowed HOA approved lawn!

Our dog was shivering feverishly and hiding under the bed.
We tried to give her Benedryl but she wasn't eating for 2-3 hours.

Yep. My fuzzy little guy was so stressed out that he was panting like he had just done a sprint in 100 degree weather. We could feel his heart beating out of control.

There was an annoying amount of super loud exploding sh*t. I found it ironic that about 35 years ago, I was one of the few idiots that went out of my way to get illegal fireworks, and today I’m super annoyed by the idiots who’ve done the same.

I think one of my neighbors blew off a digit or two. Fire and rescue crew were racing around my sleepy suburban town trying to save people from themselves. I can only imagine how frustrated they must be. Instead of spending time with their families they have to race around and patch up the dummies who’ve taken unnecessary risks and hurt themselves.

Down here the fireworks are legal. Nothing in our neighborhood caught on fire though.

I really hope we can get AC working tomorrow. Drove up to NC to drop off boy for week with my parents. AC in car was wonderful. House is over 90. Ugh. It is cooler outside!

My car has failed it's MOT (Annual roadworthy test for those not in the UK) quite spectacularly. To the point where getting it fixed so that I can use it again is more than the car is worth.

So now I need a new car. Budgets are stretched as it is without having to finance a new car!

My damn shoulder pain won't go away.
It has been 6 days. The pain is off and on but it is slightly more intense than a broken bone and the worst pain I have experienced. I have found arm positions to alleviate a flare up but it comes on quick and throbs. Doan's, advil and salonpas have little to no effect.

I went to the ER yesterday and they took xrays. Thankfully they found no arthritis, dislocation or bone spurs. So they referred me to an orthopedist and told me to up the advil. It is not really upping the advil over the long haul. I went from taking 400mg every 4+ hours to taking 600 every 8 hours but I think the higher initial burst has had some effect. (They also told me I could take 800mg the first dose) Salonpas patches and a hot shower were the only other things that have helped.

I will make the orthopedist appointment today. I really hope I don't need surgery. I just hope there is some other stronger anti inflammatory that will make this go away

Geez, man, sorry to hear it. At least if it's bursitis, they can hit it with a shot and it should go away pretty quickly. Here's hoping!

The pain can be so bad that if I don't find a comfortable position, I lose the color from my face.
Sadly the orthopedist appointment is virtual so I will have to deal with this until at least Friday unless the doctor feels comfortable prescribing something from a virtual visit. (doubtful)

I turn fiddy in a few weeks.
