Post a Picture - Something You Created!

Do you... Do you think they *are* the baddies, BadKen?

It is Warhammer 40k, isn't everyone the baddies in one sense or another?

As far as I can tell, there's no real social redemption in that world...

I had some inspiration to resurrect an old design of mine that is one of my showstopper pieces.
It was created 15 years ago and the last time I made modifications to it was probably 10 years ago. So it is due for sure. Here is a pic of some blocked out forms for the "sequel" so to speak on top of the most modern version:

It is a WIP and I will be posting progress over the next few days. The original concept was blending a lobster with a locomotive with a steampunk anime vibe. Blocking this way (yanking vertices on cubes) is the most rapid way to try out ideas and balance or play with proportions.

Very cool!

That looks like the time I accidentally packed the mushroom chocolates in my lunchbox for work.

I finally finished up all the fiddly little bits on this Plague Marine. I was too scared to try painting this faction when I started, but my practice with the Space Marines made me feel a lot more comfortable so...Here he is!

I have 2 more and a Lord of Contagion to paint up. I'd really like to make them a touch more colourful. I tried adding fluro green "goop" and some bright highlights on the tentacle, on the above and I really liked the effect...So I hope I can do a bit more colour with the others!

Pretty happy how it turned out (and thanks to everyone who dropped by the stream as I painted it!)

Very nice!

How are you achieving the blends in the olive green areas? Wet blend? Washes/glazes?

-BEP

Thanks! I still haven't attempted wet blends but I'd like to.

This was a grey base coat, olive green (Citadel's Death Guard Green), dark green ink wash, details, then a brown ink wash. Over the wash, I used some diluted olive green. I built that up a little bit, leaving the darkened base coat pop through where I wanted a bit more of a blend.

So wash/glaze kind of? I'm only really doing it by feel. I haven't actually learned those techniques properly yet ^_^;

Holy cow that is a beaut.

I'd pay good money for a mini painted like that. For "doing it by feel" it's awesome.

My participation in this was pretty minor, but I’m very proud to have been a part of it. It’s a virtual choir that I did with my choir group. My friend Eddie mixed and mastered the audio and edited the video. I’m the bald guy with the black shirt near the middle top.

edit.
The irony is that I don’t believe.

Gotta say, I was disappointed that wasn't the "I Believe" from The Book of Mormon.

Harmonic balancer for the base off of an 80s Chevy Blazer and just a valve cover off some old chevy. It has the Chevrolet script on it. Its made out of galvanized pipe. Its for my Dad for late father's day/early birthday. He's a Chevy guy, so was appropriate. Working on another one for my father in law, got a harmonic balancer off a 78 El Camino which was his favorite car he owned.

I thought that top looked familiar. My uncle loved to mess with cars, he raced regionally back in the 50's and 60's, dirt tracks, figure 8, that sort of thing. Got to see a lot of engine parts out of their natural assemblies.

My Pops taught me how to work on cars as a teenager. So do some stuff that doesn't required an expensive computer or tools like brakes and spark plugs still. He did some drag racing in the 50s and 60s.

I never did brakes, for obvious reasons, but I got some of that training too. Used to gap and replace spark plugs, mess with alternators, clean carbs, replace hoses... It was useful until the 80's, then... Not so much.

My stepdad and I fixed the brakes on my first car a couple of times. Had to do it a couple of times because we messed it up the first time That was an '85 Grand Am. We had to swap out the computer module in the center console a number of times. Car cost me $1000 and cost at least $1000 per year to keep running, but I drove it like 6 years. We did a ton of work on it over that time.

The last car I had that I did any major work on myself was a '98 Maxima. Did the alternator, fuel pump, and water pump on it with help from my stepdad. Since getting my Altima it has all been pro work, though it hasn't needed anything major and is at nearly 100k miles.

I would like to get an older project car someday. My stepdad's dad has an old Studebaker Champion convertible from the early '50s I would like to fix up.

Finished a thing for the euro GWJ D&D campaign i am running

That’s awesome!! Roo is a cool cat!

Bit of painting progress. There's a casual painting competition each month at my local Warhammer store, here's last month's entry:

And this month's entry. I really went out of my comfort zone since the theme was "flying" and...well, this was the only flying model my favourite army had (that wasn't $300). Lots of fiddly bits, and a lot of learning. Took me 2-3 weeks. Ofcourse there's things I could do better, but looking at the progress I've made since the blue marine above, I'm feeling pretty happy with it!

Really nice work! What is the flying unit called? Is it Tyranid?
