[News] Post a Political News Story

Ongoing discussion of the political news of the day. This thread is for 'smaller' stories that don't call for their own thread. If a story blows up, please start a new thread for it.

It’s a mistake to consider whatever we got from cellphone footage as the point of his stunt. We might want to see how he uses the footage I’m sure his crew took in whatever he was working on.

I couldn't find any video of the whole thing. When I heard that the crowd turned on him, I assumed he started turning the target onto Trump and his ilk. There is also some reporting that the security he hired had to extract him out of there quickly. I'd love to know the whole story.

My only complaint about the stunt is that there probably could have been much better uses for the money he dumped into it. To drop what was probably 10s of thousands of dollars to troll a crowd of 500 doesn't seem worth it.

To be honest The Villages looks like hell. I don’t know what civilization the white supremacists think they’re defending when I see a video like that.

A bunch of people screaming at each other like lunatics from golf carts outside of a Panera doesn’t feel like the best we can do as a society.

My mom lives in The Villages, but she hates protests so I'm fairly certain she wasn't taking part in any of those goings-on even though she's pro-Trump. I'd ask her, but I don't want to trigger any of her political rants.

Outside of politics, it's pretty neat place with lots of activities all throughout the town, golf courses, and people typically getting around on golf carts rather than cars.

I really didn't expect this sort of thing to ever be happening there, actually! The Villages isn't the first, or even the second, or even the two thousand and second place I'd expect any sort of protests to happen!

St. Louis Mayor Broadcasts Names, Addresses of Citizens Calling for Police Reform

What. a f*cking Karen.

Anyone know where that mayor lives? Compost the rich.

Uh, yeah. They are at her house now.

And now this...

Did I mention that this was going to be a long, hot summer? F*ck...

Another video is up.

Apparently that couple are both lawyers. Should know that people on the sidewalk are not breaking any laws, and they are by threatening with weapons.

Update. My wife is a St. Louis attorney. Once I saw that they had been doxxed, I asked Teresa if she knew them. “Yup.”

She once consulted on a case where he was pulling a shenanigan of some sort. Not illegal, but using a weird interpretation of the law to get some kinda thing. Oddly, his crazy wife factored in the case for no apparent reason. She’s a lawyer, but mostly she just shows up in court and annoys the judge.

They are like characters that might show up in a season of Goliath. She is crazy, but he’s crazy like a fox. She has a close friend that has dealt with them a lot more that she is talking to right now. It’s been a pretty funny conversation.

Sounds like precisely the kind of whiteopia I wish to avoid.

Don't read the comments on YouTube. They will make you weep for humanity.

So Teresa gave me the full story on her encounter with the couple. Unfortunately, I can’t go into any details.

But at one point in the story, Teresa was on a conference call with all of the attorneys representing various clients in the case explaining something she had figured out, the line kept getting interrupted by giggles.

Its a great story. When I left the office to let her go back to work I said, “You are a f*cking badass.” She really is.

The best part, it’s a long story, and I thought that several times.

Also, men just f*cking suck. Not only did she figure out something that helped everyone else, when she first started explaining it, she had to have the rules mansplained to her once before then blowing their minds with a very simple thing they were missing.

It's been pointed out that this isn't that big a deal, as the Subreddit was largely dead for a while now.

I am more surprised to hear that YT just got around to suspending David Duke and Richard Spencer's channels.

Damn, when I first read that I read "Twitter."

They should just change his font when published to white.

Or, you know, crayon. The Daily Show made Chrome and Firefox extensions to this effect; it wouldn't take much to integrate this into Twitter's CSS:

Is the Donald Trump Twitch channel where one used to go to watch Putin stream playing him?

It's just live-cams of his golf courses. More likely to see him there than the White House.

Obvious joke is obvious

It's certainly not as cool as the free range hand crafted artisanal jokes from other non daily show outlets.

Today's Supreme Court ruling enables future generations to be told why yesterday's Supreme Court ruling was wrong.

Stocks really are just how rich people are feeling.

Dow notches best quarter since 1987, a rebound helped by low interest rates and government stimulus amid COVID-19

There is nothing when I look at the state of the union that would make me feel optimistic about stocks. Business are doing bad, unemployment is staggering, the virus is out of control. What are the rich happy about?

Nothing in particular, they just believe The Mask of the Red Death is speculative fiction.
