Been a lifelong Groundhog Day fan, I am super stoked for Palm Springs.

I watched the trailer earlier, and I thought it was super fun. I think there is a good chance I'll enjoy the movie.

Teresa and I cannot stop talking about how fantastic Little Fires Everywhere is. The way it breaks down white privilege may be more effective than anything I’ve ever seen.

The mixed reviews are from folks watching this as a mystery. Yeah, there are mysteries. By t the point of not knowing isn’t to entertain, it’s to show how much we assume when operating with partial information.

Also, we not only chatted for hours after watching an episode or three, by the second half of the season, we were pausing and having conversations during episodes. This was not to sort plot, it was to soak in what we just witnessed.

We may watch it again.

Taste the Nation is really good! It fills the void that Anthony Bordain left quite well. RIP.

Watched a few more episodes. Great show.

Finished The Great, and it was, well, great. I hope they renew it for a second season!

Indeed!

Huzzah!

I also finished The Great last night and really enjoyed it.

I’m thinking of checking out Little Fires Everywhere, next.

Finally watched Parasite. Great movie!

Watched and enjoyed Free Solo about Alex Honnold's free climb of El Capitan. Beautiful photography. Good insight into a mindset of dogged determination. Interesting view of all of the people around him and how his goal affects their lives.

I kind of feel for his girlfriend. Not sure how that relationship can end well although she seems to deal with it better than most could. I just feel their goals in life conflict. Whatever makes him able to climb as determinedly as he does in a solo sport with so much risk probably makes it hard to learn to consider other people very much.

Holy sh*t, Devs was so f*cking good. Started and finished this week.

Nice. Yeah, super good, and super screwed up.

But if you have that kind of money, couldn't you hire a better artist to create a less creepy kid statue?

Is it possible to create a statue of a kid that isn’t creepy?

Kids are creepy.

Yeah I've never seen a not creepy doll.

Little Fires Everywhere is really good. The show takes a razor sharp look at the 1990s and a feeling that a lot of white people had that if they could convince themselves that they "don't see color" then they have solved racism. Also a look at motherhood and what it means to be "a good mother".

Reese Witherspoon, as Elena, and Kerry Washington, as Mia, are both great here and the tension between them is amazing to watch. But the child casting is great as well, particularly Lexi Underwood as Pearl (Mia's daughter) and Megan Stott as Izzy (Elena's youngest daughter). Hoping to see more from these actresses in the future.

I didn't watch all of it, just some as my family was watching, but what I saw was incredible. I'm a big fan of Reese Witherspoon's, going all the way back to A Far Off Place, and I'm so glad she's managed to navigate around casting shenanigans (to the degree anyone can). It seems that there's an upswell in better parts, better stories, available for a wider range of female characters and actors, than ever. She's also great in Big Little Lies.

You just reminded me of my reaction to watching that movie. I left it so impressed with her performance that I was thinking to myself, that girl is going to be a big movie star. She was only a teenager at the time.

I think I saw it on cable or something, but felt very similarly.

Is that with an also very young Ethan Embry?

Great movie, watched it in Jr. High Social Studies.

Yep.

Just finished Palm Springs, and I loved it. I laughed a lot, and was thoroughly entertained from beginning to end.

Oh yes, Palm Springs is great! Super funny and really drags you in.

Has anyone here watched scream Queens and would recommend it?

I just watched Palm Springs. It's a great romantic comedy starring Adam Sandburg. Highly recommended.

Spoiler:

I only knew it had good word of mouth and didn't know it had the same premise as another well known movie. So for me there was a definite "WTF?" moment about 20 minutes in. I loved that I got to experience this without any spoilers at all.

Spoiler:

You only need to overlook that the goat disappearing doesn't mesh with a version of Samberg's character being there in the stinger.

I enjoyed the first season. I wasn't able to get into the second one.

What's a stinger?

It's a scene that shows during or after a show or movie's end credits.
