Random thing you love right now that doesn't deserve its own thread

It’s telling that the big change in the last decade or so, in Chiropractic practices, is getting PT certifications and offering PT services. I’ve noticed over time that everything that has helped my friends from chiropractors is also available in PT offices.

That said, nothing stops chiropractors from being good at massage and stretching. The woo is reasonably easy to avoid.

At that point, why is anyone still calling themselves a chiropractor?

Oh, I know why. It's because of the cachet associated with the profession among people who don't know better. Chiropractic is still a marketing scam. I still recommend avoiding anyone who continues calling themselves a chiropractor. There are plenty of perfectly cromulent physical therapists who do not call themselves chiropractors.

I read an interesting article on chiropractic risks that explained the notion of informed consent. Medical doctors are required to obtain informed consent before treating a patient. The doctor ensures the patient understands the potential benefits of a treatment, why a positive outcome is expected, and what potential negative outcomes may occur. What person would undergo chiropractic spinal adjustment after being informed of the truth about that treatment? Potential benefits are placebo at best. No evidence exists to assert anything about positive outcomes. The potential negative outcomes include permanent disability and death.

The conclusion? Few chiropractors probably treat patients with honestly informed consent.

I am a pizza nut and for years I have wanted to build a backyard brick oven. I've recently found some more reasonable versions to build beyond the dome Pompeii style pizza oven. Like the one below and a few others which can either be dry stack built or packed with mortar as well to make permanent. I plan to add one of these to my yard when I can. Can't wait for the first pizzas fired on it!

Over the years, it'll get warmer.

Sandman Audible Original is out in less than three weeks.

Adapted and directed by multi-award-winner (and frequent Gaiman collaborator) Dirk Maggs, and performed by an ensemble cast with James McAvoy (It, Parts one and two, X-Men: First Class, Split) in the title role, this first installment of a multi-part original audio series will transport you to a world that re-writes the rules of audio entertainment the way that The Sandman originally re-defined the graphic novel.

That's quite a cast!

One of these things is not like the others...
Kat Dennings as Death?

Death in Sandman is a perky goth girl.

I get the connection but I just can't see or hear Kat Dennings as anything other than Kat Dennings
She kinda peaked for me at Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist. Or maybe its just how dreadful Two Broke Girls is.

This replaced HIMYM on our local WB channel in syndication weeknights. I won't be watching that channel anymore.

Even better use 100% hardwood charcoal and no lighter fluid. You can get an electric starter like this one. Stick it in the charcoal, plug it in for 8-10 minutes and you have many well lit coals.

Edit: gnome-hausered

I like the 'chimney starters'. They look like a tube with a handle on the side. You pour the charcoal in, stuff some newspaper underneath (there's a mesh floor about 80% of the way down, so there's room under there), and light it. Come back 10 or 15 minutes later and you've got a nice bucketfull of grey coals; you can pour it into your grill and start cooking within a couple minutes.

The electric starters work too, and in the age of nobody subscribing to newspapers anymore, could make more sense. But if you have newspaper around, chimney starters cost nothing to use, never break, and don't need power.

Making up scenarios for those stupid things one Twitter that are click bait cliffhangers like "you won't believe what happened next!" or "her response was not what you expect!"

It already has compared to how it used to be. Shut up.

OH. I KNOW WHO SHE IS NOW. The only thing notable about that show is how bad it is. I actually think that she’ll be great as Morpheus’ favorite sister.

And reprising the role for WandaVision.

That's cool! My son's phys ed teacher got her Subaru story turned into a commercial and got a free upgrade to an Outback:

Nice! My 17 will be February 22, 2021.

I'm such a newbie...I'll be here only 6 years in August!

(Where has all the time gone?)

I’m in the noob crew too. I turn 7 in August of this year. Though I had been a casual lurker for much longer than that.

My best guess is that I’ve been listening to the podcast since 2005 or so. Admittedly, I’m just spitballing on that one.

Random thing I love: I recently started streaming some gameplay on YouTube, and I'm getting more people watching these than I have had in years. Even got some upvotes. Very encouraging!

We bought my wife a Subaru Forester last summer, expecting she's going to get at least 15 years out of it.

That's what I'm hoping for with my Tacoma! I have less than 2 years to pay the thing off, and I'm planning on keeping it till it dies as a tow vehicle for the most part (hopefully). My hope too, is that since there's so many of them, and it's pretty generic, it'll be easier and cheaper to get parts for way down the road.
