Nintendo Switch Catch-All 2.0

Not often I get at all excited from announcement trailers, but this 2021 release is so Tim Burton-y I have to pray it doesn’t suck.

Also reminds me of the American McGee's Alice games. I'm pretty much sold.

Seems that alot of games with "simplistic" art-style are landing on the switch

Being that the vast majority of games that are landing on the Switch are multi-platform, I have no idea what you're trying to say here.

Yes.. i guess I thought out loud and had the switch in mind.
What i MEANT IS.. there is this trend of new games with a "simplistic" yet cool art-style such as Lost in random, overcooked etc.

Anybody know much about Just dance on switch? Any reccomendations on which version to get? I recall some having more diverse bodied dancers which would be a big plus.
Thanks in advance if anyone can help.

My wife plays Just Dance. We own 2019 and 2020. She still hasn’t worn out 2019 so hasn’t tried 2020 for more than a few minutes. They both should come with the one-month trial to the unlimited-song library. I have no idea about dancer bodies since they all look the same? Go with whichever is on sale and you should be good, or if there’s a favorite song on on-disk for one.

In case anyone else is still having trouble with Joycon drift, Nintendo just accepted my request for a repair, so it seems things are back up and running on their end. It took about two weeks for them to get back to me.

I repaired the drift on one of mine myself. Now, the replacement stick won't register UP.

I shoulda just sent it in, especially since I rarely ever use the joycons.

If I hadn't thrown the original stick away, I could put it back and sent it in...

I have Just Dance 2019 and I love it. My kids love it. My kids asked to dance this evening and the only reason I didn't is because it's 30 degrees Celsius and we don't have any AC. It's great. Check out the set list if you want to get a sense of what the songs are like (2020 has... Baby Shark?). Alternatively, there's a monthly subscription thing that gives you way more songs than you could ever hope for.

And if you really put your back into it, it's a decent work out.

They repaired mine this week, at no charge. I'm still waiting for the package to show up. They sent me a tracking number, but for some reason it is deemed invalid when I try to check where it's at. I'll wait a few more days before I start complaining.

“Regarding the Joy-Con, we apologize for any trouble caused to our customers,” said Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa. “We are continuing to aim to improve our products, but as the Joy-Con is the subject of a class-action lawsuit in the United States and this is still a pending issue, we would it like to refrain from responding about any specific actions.”

It's about time they apologized.

Worthless apology. I won’t buy more joycons until we have 2.0.

Interesting preview of the new Paper Mario from Game Informer.

I like what I'm hearing. Still definitely waiting for folks to have hands on.

Is there a shortage on Joy-Cons right now? I want to send mine in to be fixed, but don't want to stop playing. Went looking for a set to buy and everywhere is sold out!

Every piece of game hardware that's remotely popular has had low stock for a while, I believe.

I saw a set at my local Target the other day, but I rarely see them, otherwise.

Nice to see some real gameplay of this rhythm platformers from NIS. I'd recommend skipping to 2:30 if you don't speak Japanese.

Otherwise it's a full playthrough of (presumably) the first level. It's definitely something. The art style of the backgrounds and enemies seems really odd. You're in a lab/sewer with Día de Muertos colored enemies. I suppose it helps the enemies stick out, which is probably good in a rhythm platformer where you're perpetually on the move.

Yep mine is really bad that I've had to switch to using the Pro Controller in handheld exclusively. I got my Switch at launch so I was thinking my joycons would be well out of warranty.

I’ve started to experience some drift with my right joy con. I’m planning on fixing it myself with a replacement part from Amazon—I replaced the left one using the same method about a year back and haven’t had any trouble.

I would definitely recommend this approach to anyone with experience with ribbon cables (or any other fine work/precision based kind of skill, like engraving or sewing or similar. Way cheaper than ordering a whole new joy con (the last one I bought was like 12 dollars, including the funky screwdrivers you need to open the joy con) and quicker than shipping the whole thing to Nintendo.

If you go to Lehigh Valley Zoo in the future, say hello to Tatu for me. He's a wonderful giraffe and I miss him!

I'm still at the dousing my left joycon with alcohol stage, but I'm sure I'll eventually get to the point of needing to do more, so good to have various options.

Spikeout, I've heard here from various people on GWJ that Nintendo will fix joycon drift issues for free, even if out of warranty. I'd send mine in, but wouldn't have anything to use in the meantime and I'm still very much doing (almost) daily Animal Crossing, but I may send it in eventually.

He's dealing with Nintendo of Europe, but should be the same repair thing. They definitely are doing it for out of warranty ones in N. America.

The name and art led me to believe this game would be horrible, but was surprised that it looks quite polished.

It's been featured in the PAX Omegathon before, possibly multiple times. I've been waiting for it to come to console!

Well, best I can tell, it's out on PC the same day. Switch, Xbox and Steam. Interesting collection of systems. Wonder why not PS4.

Sony has a reputation (at least in the US) amongst developers of being a little tough to initiate contact with. It may not really be deserved anymore, like a mythical barrier, but it takes time to break that down.

I'll almost certainly pick it up on Xbox. Hopefully the kids will enjoy it.

Nintendo Treehouse Live starting in less than 10 minutes (1pm ET) with gameplay from Paper Mario: The Origami King and... "first reveal and gameplay for a title in a franchise new to developer WayForward".

The irrational and unreasonable fanboy in me is crossing fingers for it to be Metroid related.

Looks silly and charming but it’s not an RPG after all so I’ll pass.

Whatever happened to burying us in 3D Mario ports?

As someone who never owned a Wii or U, I am also still waiting to be buried. I mean, playing some Mario games.

That'll teach me for having hopes and dreams.

On the plus side, Origami King looks charming and fun, but given that I didn't finish Color Splash I'm on the fence.
