Titanfall 2 Catch-All

Plus Titan is not short for Titantric...

Papa Scorch!

Whatever! Still good!

Damn and here I was thinking this was a trailer for new content drop. Really well made!

So I only started playing this game a few weeks ago (once Apex Legends came out) and can I just say that I agree with everyone about the campaign. So good!

I'm not done yet, but I just finished "Cause and effect"... what a level. Just amazing! Can't wait to see what they cook up next.

I just finished up the single player campaign and it was pretty good. Played on hard and it was about the right amount of challenge. Most areas I didn't die much but there were several where it took many tries to succeed. BT made for a great companion.

Arise! A friend and I are talking about playing TF2 on Xbox tomorrow night (Thursday) around 8pm Central. Anyone interested?

My son and I play from time to time. He's 11, and better than me, if that helps you estimate our skill levels. We're...8 hours ahead of you, but we're all quarantined up so, there's a decent chance of finding us....

Based on the complete ass-whipping we were handed by a bunch of people who are all Gen 27+, this was probably a one-time return to TF2 for us.

We did have some fun playing the horde mode, though.

Weird. My son and I do fine on the European servers. I assumed it was some lack of skill based matchmaking...

That's amazing! When is that strip from?

That was our experience entirely.

Titanfall 2 multiplayer was the first game that made me feel old. As in I just couldn't keep up. Love the game still and the single player is amazing, but I don't think I can put in the time/effort to get good enough.

A month or two ago maybe. It had a brief spike for one reason or another.

I love the game, I think it's perfect. But I don't play it as much as I wish I did, the pc population is pretty small.

I'm right there with ya pally. Loved the single player campaign so much I deigned to try the multiplayer, which I did enjoy, but wow one can only lose so many times before moving on.

The co-op mode they added later was really fun though. I wish the game had more co-op stuff.

The reason, which I shared in, is chronicled here:

I got into Titanfall 2 via the multiplayer, because Tycho from Penny Arcade wrote about the mode where you have to bank your points. I still quite like that mode. I love that, decades after CTF, we're still coming up with new and interesting objective-based modes for team deathmatch.

Good question.

Алая ведьма жжот !

Oh crap.

Is it possible to convert the Origin version to Steam? Because I already own it there.

Nope.

Will it be a different player base? Wholly different servers, etc?

You still have to sign in to Origin when playing through Steam so it seems the answer is no.

This game is having a renaissance with the Steam release, heard there were 10k players online last night so I decided to fire it up. Then I remembered I don't actually own it on Origin, I only played it while I had Origin Access. What the heck for less than $10 on Steam I'm in.

Is/was there a GWJ "network"? Is there even any benefit to being in a network?

There isn't really. The three biggest networks are Advocate (generic), Reddit, and Giant Bomb. And you can freely switch between them between matches. It makes no difference. You get matched up with whoever is available and not only in-network.

I played a lot of Titanfall 1 and 2. I did like mech play in 1 better. My recollection is the game was balanced so you would spend more time in the mech during mp because of shields or other mechanics that enabled them to last longer.

I now own this on both Xbox One and PC...euro time zone.
Just sayin'.

Also, possibly i suck in terms of being able to constantly bounce off walls and shoot people while bouncing.

I enjoyed my Strider with the quad rocket launcher weapon in TF1 more than any of the Titans in TF2 I think, but "objectively" the greater Titan variety in TF2 is better.

My single greatest complaint with the gameplay in TF2 compared to the first game is that Titan rodeo seems almost pointlessly suicidal in TF2, unless you happen to be fortunate enough to yee haw one right after it spawns so electric smoke isn't ready yet. 90% of the time if I rodeo a hostile Titan I die immediately and 90% of the time when someone rodeos my bot buddy they die immediately. It was a fairly emphasized aspect of gameplay I thought in TF1 and in TF2 it is just not viable enough to have much impact.

So for anyone that wishes they could play Titanfall 2 MP again / make their own private server, it is now possible. Northstar mod.

I am in no way capable enough to figure out how to set up a server, but would love to jump into a night of matches.
