I have a legitimate complaint about Austin Walker:

I am upset that he doesn't do more podcasts every week, because I wish I could spend more time listening to him.

First episode of Branching Narratives features Austin! It's a great episode.

I listened and it was amazing!

Side note, did they just change the name of the podcast after the first episode? It DEFINITELY was called "The Dialogue Box" when i subscribed a week or two ago.

Oops, I got the link wrong. Here was the link: https://www.usgamer.net/articles/int...

I think they were going for Branching Narratives but that ended up being taken. There was a little bit in the intro about that if I recall correctly. Or, it might have been mentioned on Axe of the Bloodgod. I don't know what the permanent name will end up being.

The first episode was called Dialogue Box but that was taken so they changed it to Branching Narratives for the second episode. It is now known as Branching Narratives.

Ah. Thanks for clarifying!

For those of you all who, like me, hadn't known, Branching Narratives is a new(ish?) podcast from USgamer hosted by the great Jeff Green, who I have barely heard from in years and years (maybe he guested on a GWJ podcast sometime in the last year or so?) and didn't realize how much I missed until I saw this. So, I've subscribed to this podcast!

Wow, finally got a chance to listen to episode 2 with Samantha Kalman. So, so good, and I cannot recommend highly enough that everyone listen to both episodes currently available.

Oh awesome! Cant' wait. She hasn't been on Giant Bomb stuff for quite awhile that I've seen.

She's moved a lot. Was mostly based in Seattle but recently moved, back, to Europe.

Good recommendation. Just stated it myself.

Wow, Jeff with some raw from the heart stuff today.

Haven’t listened but at very interested what he has to say. Being one of the few elder statesman and a man who kept his mouth shut on many topics for a long time, it’s really good to hear him speak up.

I haven't listened yet but I saw his Twitter post. Glad Jeff and crew are speaking up.

Counterpoint: If Jeff would hire some women in editorial I bet he would hear (from them) who the real creeps are.

I liked both Austin and Patrick a lot when they were at Giant Bomb.
I like Rob Zacny a lot on Shfit+F1.

I don't like Waypoint at all, though to be fair I haven't really given them a chance ever since the Waypoint High thing they did in the first year. Gave me the impression that the site wasn't for me, and that's just fine!

I very much enjoy Austin's random appearances on (usually holiday) Beastcasts, though.

If I had to level one criticism it's that he says "Oh, one hundred percent" at least 4 times a minute every time I hear him.

He's just very very sure, ok?

I've been listening to some of the early Waypoints, and I would suggest that if you bounced off it in the first year, you should probably give it another try. It's fallen into a much better rhythm and there's a big improvement after the first... I don't know, 70 episodes or so?

For what it's worth, would back this up. I bounced off early, went back much later on when the crew had been there longer and had more time to settle into things and found myself enjoying it a lot more. Waypoint ended up taking the place the Beastcast had in my podcast time, when I still had time to listen to podcasts every week.

So I have two tracks in time of Bombcast that I'm listening to, in the backlog I'm up to Nov 2019, and the second is in late March I wanted to start listening to current episodes because of current events.

Except it was the June episode this week with the "ho boy, you don't expect this event to turn everything upside down" with Ben talking about preparing for Evo.

I mean usually it's every minute of every Nov podcast taking about E3 2020 yada yada

Drew's ending Cloth Map. Makes a lot of sense considering he can't travel. Sounds like he'll be getting into games but not games media.

Anyone know what happened to the Beastcast this week? Did I miss an announcement?

They mentioned recording Friday morning, whereas they normally record Thursday. It was so they could react to the Xbox thing I think.

Last time they recorded on a Friday it went up very late, because Vinny also has the Hot Spot to edit and other streams to do.

Exactly. It's up now. I had the same thought but, early in the HotSpot archive, Vinny mentioned that he'd just recorded the Beastcast.

God I wish they would stop pronouncing niche nitch. Makes my brain twitch every time I hear it.

Does it make your brain twitche?

Yes!

It's just their asstetic.

Aggggh!

The internet tells me that nitch is still the more common pronunciation and that neesh was not considered “acceptable” til 2003.

When you consider that most of them were out of school by then I think it’s pretty understandable.

I just thought Americans are so uncultured that when you come across a vaguely foreign sounding word the pronunciation gets all muddled. And each state insists that their weird way of saying things is the correct way.

Son, you ain't welcome back in Ver-sayls, Kentucky.

I could happily hear "nitch" forever if they never said "assdetic" again.

I've been really enjoying the premium Hot Spot podcast. It's very laid back, they just talk about whatever. Makes me yearn for the days when Vinny and Jeff were on the Bombcast together every week.
