Post a Picture - Something You Created!

"Soon" I've finished all the maps, i now have to go back and write all the encounter details. I'm stuck doing regular boring paid work at the moment though, so i'd best take care of that first! But i'll get there!

Uh-huh... I see those lines. You're fooling no one.

I freely admit, I was like "spider? Not enough limbs for a spider!" I scrolled up and scrolled back down and looked again and... realized I was wrong. I'm sorry for doubting you momentarily.

Bit of a stretch, i admit ...

Hot redhead on greenskin action!

Self portrait practice in a more painterly style, of which i am FAR TOO RUSTY. But it didn't turn out too bad for a first attempt in, like, three years or so..

Yes, it's hideous, I can't believe you shared it.

Don't ever stop sharing stuff here, please.

Another bit of portrait practice

I've been dabbling in pixel art lately. My daughter wanted a unicorn, so I took this picture of Amalthea:

And made this pixel version:

Which I then built in Minecraft at her request:

Super cool pixel art!

I’m an atheist, but I belong to a UU church. They are welcoming towards all denominations and also non believers. I was asked to perform a song within the public domain for the church webcast. The message for the week is titled “All Shall Be Well”, so Mrs Rawk and I recorded a video of ourselves performing Keep On The Sunny Side. There’s even a blooper reel at the end.

Catchup with my inktober portraits...

I posted these to Twitter and the Total War thread ,but I'm really proud so I'd like to share here too.

I've been really interested in miniature painting for a while. I feel like all I do is play videogames in my downtime, so I figured it'd be nice to try something that would help me concentrate and let me practice patience. I struggle a lot with attention problems (with doctors/psychologists skirting around an ADD/ADHD diagnoses but no firm answers), so I thought it would be a nice idea to give it a shot.

I'm pretty interested in the Warhammer universe from all the games so I thought it would be a nice place to start. These are my first models, and I really love how they look! They fill me with such joy, I have them in my display cabinet and they make me really happy when I walk by and see them! It's wonderful to have tried a hobby and to have something to be proud of at the end of the day.

Here's my very first attempt

My second miniature was a lot more challenging because I wanted to try some brighter colours (the red and white). They took a lot of coats and the end result was a bit blobby. But I learned to thin the paints more than I initially thought. Progress.

Then model 3, which is at the front.

The Space Marine pack was a really nice place to start because they were relatively straight-forward to paint. Easy colour scheme and the box I bought included most of the paints needed. I've since ordered a handful of Reaper Bones minis and plan to buy some more paints to work with next payday.

I just can't emphasize enough how wholesome it felt to just...feel creative and productive. I love videogames, but gosh, I didn't realise how much I needed to get outside of my comfort zone and try something new.

Ramble over, but expect more pics of little people and monsters in the future.

Your first attempts are better than my current attempts so well done!

Mini painting is not my primary creative outlet but i totally get the "feeling good about doing something creative" buzz!

Those look fantastic, Uni! Well done! Can I ask how you did the ground on them?

Awesome! Now go all out and do an Imperial Battleship!

(kidding...)

Those look really good. Way better than I could ever do. I content myself with coloring my units in 40k video games.

I admit that having avoided 40K for decades due to remembering what a jerk the founder was, I’ve become acculturated to the art style through playing Inquisitor, and I have to say, there’s something to the Gothic aesthetic in these games. Intricate detail. Impressive if very weird.

I don't know what 40k set my friend used, but he painted them like Cobra(GIJoe) with Destro, Baroness and Cobra Commander. He has HISS tanks, and a lot of Cobra soildier units.

Posted this in the TTRPG thread but I got a commission to do a map for a "Things From the Flood" campaign , which is a nice departure from doing fantasy maps I tried to match the style of the official maps in the sourcebooks.

Thankyou for the kind words, all!

I tried to do a small art stream this evening and covered it at 16:30. The stream itself was...messy and it looks like I'll need a fancier webcam and better lighting, but hey it was fun.

Essentially, it's just a textured paint that you dab onto the base. An ink wash goes over the top, and you brush over it with a very thick, barely loaded brush using a lighter colour! Easy as!

Here's the result of about 4 hours of meandering. I think it's an improvement upon my first 3

Nice! It looks really good! The chocolate bar and phone make it feel very cozy (for lack of a better word!)

Definitely nice!
I see improvement with each successive paint

That's such a nice miniature I'd hate to actually use it. Might scuff the paint!

edit to add: Pyxi's map looks downright professional. I've seen many real, published game maps that were nowhere near that good. I could totally see that as a fold-in with a boxed game of some kind.

Mmm, chainsword and bolter pistol. The classics never get old.

Finished the whole Killteam They look really groovy all together!

Yeah, but are they the baddies? Their chests have skulls on them. And several are wearing skull masks.

The turf they’re standing on looks dope!

Do you... Do you think they *are* the baddies, BadKen?
