Deep Rock Galactic

Heard about this on the conf call and another podcast I listen to. Interesting... How many euro goodjers are playing? Or EST folk that play early evening? I'm usually on at about 10pm GMT.

Hi kergguz, I've played a few a few games in online co-op (last time a few weeks ago, pre v1 launch). Usually with another discord group. I'd like to get back to playing and with some goodjers would be great. I'm UK based and often on around 10pm, I'll send you a Steam friend request and if you want to connect, lets arrange a group to go mining!

Alright cool! I'm in the middle of a Super Mega Baseball season so may be engrossed in that for a while, but we'll have to get together soon. Side question - I joined the DRG discord and can see that in the LFG channel people are popping in invites to games. How does that work? How do you put an invite there, and if I click Join, does it launch the game from steam and automatically put me in their game? I've used discord with my family for playing online boardgames, but really very little else. I see GWJ has a discord group too, so I imagine you could use the same invite system, whatever it is, there?

Enjoy your Super Mega Baseball season kergguz! Sure, anytime when you are ready for a game give me a shout.

Re: Discord Game Inviting - I've used this to join a game but I haven't created an invite myself. As long as you own the game then clicking the invite take you into the group and starts the game I think it works by connecting your Discord and Steam accounts? Here are more details from Discord:

Game Invites and Detailed Status (Rich Presence) – Discord
https://support.discord.com/hc/en-us...

You can also do the usual and invite your Steam friends directly.

Yes GWJ has a discord and although DRG doesnt yet have it's own channel people are discussing in the #shooters channel there.

kergguz and Neutrino,

I'm not sure if our GWJ server has Rich Presence capabilities, but so far I've found the Steam invite system to be fairly robust and helpful for getting into games. The biggest thing is to remember to turn yourself off of "invisible" or "offline" so others can find you.

In terms of organizing we've got a bunch of people who seem to play anywhere from 22:00 EST to midnight or later during the weekdays and sporadically throughout the day during the weekend. It's not the most organized in the world, but there's an "On-Demand" section of the Discord where we have a channel set up for DRG (picture below, also one for SMB3!)

Thanks staygold! Hopefully I'll see you and/or other goodjers in a game of DRG soon

I mentioned in my earler post that there wasn't a dedicated discord channel for DRG meaning not one for text chat, but as you state there is the general #requests for arranging games and the voice channel for DRG (and SMB3!).

I managed to catch your playthrough on Twitch with Amoebic... looks like you were both having a lot of fun!

Thanks both. I can't see me catching you on a weekday neutrino (I'm rarely gaming at 3am these days!) but hopefully will join you on a weekend sometime.

I take it you were directing your last comment to staygold? I don't game at 3am either But maybe we can all have a game together one weekend

Oh, yes I was.. typo sorry! I played my first solo mission this morning. It looks like there's tonnes to dig into. Excellent.

I mean... If you're trying to sell me on a game then this is probably the way.

Thought so I'm going to refresh my skills (or lack thereof) in solo tonight. I'll post in the GWJ Discord when ready for multiplayer co-op.

Just picked it up! No idea what I'm doing. Send help.

Haha! Although you may be half joking I thought I'd post some helpful guides here for beginners that may be of some help... don't worry I'll send a rescue party down to help too

How to Play Guide for Deep Rock Galactic

Happy drillin' and (cough cough) Rock & Stone!

Will be on tonight around 10pm EST if anyone wants to jump on

Is anyone playing this on console? My gaming PC is dead and may be a while off replacement and this game looks like fun...

I just got this game so if anyone wants to play, hit me up. I'm usually around in the evenings Pacific Time.

Will try to be on tonight at 10pm EST. Anyone else playing tonight?

There have been people in the DRG discord channel every night this weekend so far. Come on in!

I ran into my first spider tank thing tonight. After taking him down and rebooting him he was a great help. Like Bosco on steroids.

Had a couple of the wildest games yet in DRG yesterday afternoon/evening. Will write out the stories of "The Great Glyphid Crassus Detonator Heist" and my first solo Deep Dive after work, but wanted to share the 1235 Gold Mined in this mission and the 510 bugs I squashed

Speaking of your deep dives, Staygold, after playing my first missions in your group, I thought that the game was super hard. Then I went to play missions with people who had not yet spent 60+ hours in the game and realized you were taking us to much harder assignments. The difficulty progression seems to be pretty good.

I also appreciate all the silliness that goes on in the space rig. They did a lot of voice overs just for that. There's so much to like in this game.

"Stop it!... NOW!"

Really enjoyed the games this weekend.

Deep Rock's overall sense of playfulness is pretty great.

Just unlocked the submachine guns for the scout. SO HAPPY. I was not thrilled with the shotgun at all, this is WAY more my speed.

I'm getting the impression that the player base might be a bit low to support this game in the long term, which would be a shame. I had a fun time playing with a few GWJers from the US time zone last week, but since then I've tried to join pick up groups but, a) there are very few games available at lower haz levels (mostly no games available at all actually), and b) the games I have joined have been extremely chaotic with people apparently not caring much about friendly fire. Perhaps I've had bad luck. I know, Neutrino, we said we'd try and catch each other for a game at some point since we are in the same time zone - we shall have to make that happen!

From the perspective of someone who last played it over a year ago, I wonder what you mean by "long term".

I mean, how long will there be enough people online for me to be able to find a reasonable group. Or any group at all, if most of the players from the GWJ community are in time zones that make it difficult for me to group with them. (and rightly or wrongly, I would rather play with people from this community, than with random pub groups)

I only mention it because if there are people playing today, then it has staying power as I was playing it a year ago.

Maybe I am misinterpreting what you are saying. Are you looking to buy, or have you been playing and are commenting on if the player base will last?

Today's peak is almost 10,000 players. Nearly 8,000 are playing right now. What's the problem?

Just that I couldn't find a lower skill level public game at 10pm (UK) the last two times I've played. Sorry I'm not trying to upset anyone... asking a genuine question because I've enjoyed when I HAVE played in a good group.
