The story behind it.

54 Percent of Americans Think Burning Down Minneapolis Police Precinct Was Justified After George Floyd's Death (Newsweek):

The survey, which was conducted by Monmouth University, surveyed 807 U.S. adults from May 28 to June 1. It asked respondents if they thought the actions taken by protesters, including the burning of the precinct building, was fully justified, partially justified or not at all justified.

According to the poll, 17 percent said the actions were fully justified and 37 percent said partially justified, for a total of 54 percent. In comparison, 38 percent said that the action was not at all justified. The poll has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.5 percentage points.

Only good part of that video is how vast majority of those f*cking cowards with guns couldn't even meet the eyes of the protesters and looked away in shame. f*ck them.

That video of Obama is not an "address to the nation." It was an interview on MSNBC, and the version that aired was much shorter than what you see on YouTube. There were I think two segments aired, one about a minute and a half, and one a little over two minutes.

And it has a hopeful message. And it has not one iota of negativity towards the current administration. And this sh*t has been going on all week, and this is the first time Obama has publicly said word one about it.

Anyone claiming that video is Obama trying to start something is trying to start something themselves.

Sorry, Ken, but Obama's live town hall yesterday (the day before?) that was covered live by every news organization was an address to the nation. It was even referred to as such by non-conservative media organizations. You're welcome to accuse me of trying to start something, but that's what it was.

As I see it, our former President felt a need to offer a live message of calm and reconciliation because our current President's national address was a threat of martial law. Obama (correctly) perceives a void of national leadership and has done what he could to help calm things down. Contrary to this forum turning on him, he remains a popular public figure with some pull to actually deescalate things.

It was the right thing to do, and I'm glad he did it. I hope it helped. But it's also very unusual for a former President to publicly step up to do what the current occupant won't. Opposition leaders making dueling national addresses in times of crisis isn't really a healthy sign for the nation, though.

When you hit the point where the last president feels they have to step up after they seem to have tried to fade into the background really just shows how much of a failure the current president is.

I am sure he will handle this like an adult and not escalate the police violence at all.

Worth watching on netflix (strongly recommend). I won’t lie, it’s devastating, frustrating, and demoralizing and it lays bare and explains a lot.

Very disturbing. Especially how they just walk away.

And Buffalo PD's official version of that? "One person was injured when he tripped & fell."

Yeah. They're not there to protect and serve. De-fund them completely and start from scratch.

Saw the Buffalo video on Twitter. The man was taken in an ambulance and is at the hospital. Reports are good at far. But WTF.

Especially the one cop who tried to check on him, and the other asshole pulls him away. Good cop, bad cop, right there.

NWA was right. f*ck the police

Nah. Two bad cops.

Is the other one a good cop? He still walked away. That's kind of the whole deal.

That video is f***ing horrifying.

Let's be honest any good cops would either refuse to take part in the violence or arrest the bad cops during the protest.

Have we seen either occur?

Exactly. I was so viscerally horrified by that video I imagined my response as the "good" cop would be to take a night stick to the other cops.

How many normally resign? 35k employees is a lot.

A good cop would have stopped to help the man.

Yeah good point. Frustrating to see someone know the right thing but peer pressured out of it.

Welp, in my city, a bunch of open carry bumpkins are gathering in the parking lot of a firearms store on my side of town. And downtown, a bunch of armed folks have established themselves on top of a liquor store (the building doubles as a shooting range).

What could go wrong?

Lets be honest, any good cops would stop or arrest the bad cops.

What's the saying from activists? "Once white people fear the police as much as Black people do, then change is inevitable." We're seeing that change now, something that I believe may be the biggest political movement in American history since the Revolution.

Asheville made national headlines because the police smashed a medic station staffed by volunteer nurses, doctors, EMTs and combat medics. The Police Chief first tried to minimize it by saying the force had to get rid of possible projectiles but this evening apologized but only after growing pressure from the mayor.

Photos and a video of the destruction in the linked article.

They'll push, beat, suffocate, and shoot whoever it takes in order to remain in power.

Peninsula Daily News: Family harassed in Forks after being accused of being members of Antifa

FORKS —A multi-racial family of four from Spokane was accused of being members of Antifa, followed and prevented from leaving their campsite by trees felled to block the road, Clallam County Sheriff’s deputies said.

Four high school students cut the trees with chainsaws to allow the family to leave, said Sgt. Ed Anderson in a press release issued late Thursday.

The Clallam County Sheriff’s Office is actively conducting a criminal investigation into the incident and is seeking information regarding those involved, Anderson said.

Names of the campers or the high school students were not available Thursday.

“The people in the parking lot repeatedly asked them if they were Antifa protesters. The family told the people they weren’t associated with any such group and were just camping,” the press release said.

“The family had to drive their bus around vehicles in the parking lot in order to get back onto Highway 101.”

The family told deputies that at least four vehicles followed them as they drove northbound out of Forks. They said that two of the vehicles had people in them carrying what appeared to be semi-automatic rifles.

If accurate, this is five times the rate of resignation in 2016, itself a record-breaking year. https://www.nycpba.org/press-release...

These men are giving up salaries in a time of economic uncertainty. Health insurance in a time of pandemic.

They are doing it on moral principle.

They are heroes in my book.

Assuming they’re not just retiring early with pensions intact, we may have found a handful of the legendary good apples.

Saw that. And I thought Louisville was bad because they dumped out water and milk on Saturday. They claimed there was some flammable liquid but the way they just smashed and dumped it all on the ground that was clearly a lie.

Got chiefs and mayors out here lying to protect cops and only when presented with video do they change their story. You can pretty much believe every horror story you've heard about cops through the years.
