Binged the final season of She-Ra this morning.... still buzzing about it. SO GOOD!
Blubbed my way through the last couple of episodes at points.

Pretty good episode of Harley Quinn this week. As wacky as it is the the Jim and Barbra situation was sweet. Then they did the thing I didn't think they would do. They were building to it in a way. On the other hand it could be fake out.

Damn, I was already excited to watch the last season of She-Ra and you're not making it any easier to wait. But no, Castlevania season III must come first.

Finished She-Ra and was super happy with the ending. I love the pervasive themes of redemption and forgiveness throughout this series. Lots of good feels in this one.

Man Rick and Morty went dark, darker than usual I mean.

Are Rick and Morty on again? Or do you mean dark as in no sign of them anywhere?

Yep, for the last four weeks or so.

I thought they were a little too generous with the forgiveness. Especially

Spoiler:

Katra. Seriously, she spent a little over 4 seasons trying to kill, capture, maim and ultimately destroy the planet and all of the princesses and she does one thing , admittedly pretty big, and everything is good. Even when they get back home she only gets sucker punched by the ice princess, and then She-ra was like “Katra be good” and everyone was ok with that? She-ra didn’t even face face any blowback for supporting her. It was too easy in my opinion.

Ultimately I really enjoyed the series, just thought the ending dropped it down a bit.

Good thoughts, Ego Man.

Spoiler:

Yeah, I'm still sort of trying to wrap my head around that a little bit. At the end of season 3, I was quite happy to put Katra in the "un-redeemable evil person" category and wait for her to get what was coming to her. But then, it was almost like when Hoard Prime showed up, the struggles between Hordak and the Rebellion got put into perspective and thus seemed microscopic by contrast. Similarly, at the end, Hordak himself seems like he'd be left alone with Entrapta and would face no repercussions even though ultimately he was responsible for so much more of the bad things that happened to the planet and the people. So yeah, a more realistic ending would possibly be having to face some justice for their previous actions which would be tempered a bit by what they did to help at the end. I did sort of like the idea of the "redeemed" characters being brought back to the light by their relationships and that if the series would be continued, that would be a source of tension/conflict (making for some good storytelling) where their moral compass would be "tuned" by the strength of their feelings with those they were with.

But yeah, I get what you're saying. I think it's sort of related to the fact that this isn't a rated "R" series and thus the horrors of war and combat were never actually depicted. All of the casualties seemed to be focused on the scenery as well as lots and lots of robots (yet another reason for the coming uprising, btw). The "battles" seemed to be more toned down to the point of school yard brawls where nobody actually is seriously hurt or actually killed and as such they didn't have nearly as much of an impact as they could have. That being said, Katra was directly responsible for the loss of Glimmer's mom and quite frankly, that little fact seemed to be forgotten at the end. They could have spent another whole episode just dealing with that issue alone.

So, all good points raised. I think solid endings for series are just fundamentally hard to land 100% successfully. Some definitely fare worse than others (I'm looking at you Voltron) and none ever really seem to get it all right. But yeah, even with that, I'd still recommend this as one of the better animated series out there--hiccups and all.

Spoiler:

On a semi-related topic, I was very much expecting Queen Angella to pop out of sub-space or wherever at the end of the series and was a bit surprised that it didn't happen. With her loss and the loss of Shadow Weaver at the end, I kind of felt like mothers and mother-figures were kind of getting the short end of the stick with this series.

Yep, for the last four weeks or so.

This half of the season has been really strong, the Vat of Acid episode was really good and I think the Story Train episode has been their best episode of the entire series so far.

Just completed She-Ra and loved it. They really nailed the ending. The ending was pretty much all cheese which I think fits with the tone they were going for. I don't know if certain character faced realistic consequences if the show would have been better.

Anyway my biggest issue was the depiction of black people on the show. All of them seem more like white people painted brown. I did like the characters, even water princess grew on me. I really did not like that valley girl tone she had at first. Shows like the dragon prince and Kipo did black people better in my opinion, not just palate swaps white people.

On a different note my favorite characters were Entrapta and Scorpia. Scorpia was just a beast at the end. She really brought the pain. Also the song was good. For Entrapta I loved how she just stayed the same throughout the show. Her love of all things tech could put her on any side. She was the most fun character.

I started watching the latest season of Rick & Morty because I guess my friends enjoy me Female Doggoing about it, but dare I say it's... matured? That doesn't feel like the right word, but there's plenty of barbs directed at the entirely-too-credulous crowd to demonstrate this is not the show they think it is, and the Snake Planet episode was one of the funniest things I've seen in a long time (they really committed to it and the Jerry sub-plot was hilarious).

I'm glad the nihilism has been toned down and they aren't afraid to slap Nazis around pointedly and in context, it's much more pleasant when it's not just straight, undirected nastiness all the time (again, not the right word but you know what I mean).

There were issues with fans harassing some of the writers during season 3, making the usual claims about forced diversity blah blah blah, etc. Harmon complained about it a lot on his now-defunct podcast and a lot of what’s going on in season 4 is steering into that.

Watched the first two episode of The Hallow. No clue what is going on. The main characters wake up without their memories and in a strange land with witches, space ships, Death, killer demon dogs, and other odd stuff. Kind of feels like Disc World.

I don't know how I feel about it yet.

Haaaaaate the animation and character design on that. Couldn't sit through more than a handful of episodes.

The art design wasn’t the best. I liked the writing so I was able to overlook it.

I watched the entire thing with my daughter. It’s far from perfect, but I liked the mashing up of fantasy and sci-fi and the humor is pretty good. I got a few lols each episode. If you like it, it’s worth seeing it through to the end. I also feel like it started to get REALLY good at about episode 5.

Also, season two has just been announced. I will definitely check that out.

I don't really dig the art style either but I also don't really care all that much She-Ra art style but I ended up loving that show. Now that I think about it I didn't get into She-Ra until the second or third episode. Maybe it will be the same for this show. One of my favorite series is Beast Wars and I a hated the animation on that show. Probably the worse animated show I have ever seen but I still loved the show. Might just be my love for transformers.

Binged a bunch of She-Ra yesterday, finally closed out season 4 and we're about 4 episodes into Season 5. I'm sure the rest will be following quickly behind.

This weeks Harley Quinn might have bee full of crap but the last scene almost made me cry.

No kidding. However, I'm optimistic that we're going to get to a good happy(ish) ending with this series. This show is a study of all types of relationships that just happens to use elements from the DC universe as caricatures, foils, and backdrops. It's pretty clear which characters are the 2D throw-away comedic elements and so I'm enjoying how the different threads (main and several sub) play out.

Transformers Cyberverse is on the official transformers youtube channel. It's a kiddy show. The episodes are only like 10 minutes long. Animation isn't that bad. Story is for babies. I kind like the show but it isn't that good compared to some of the other kiddy transformer shows. Kids will dig it though.

Finish The Hollow and liked it over all. First season was rough but I thought the second season was much better. Loved the diversity. Arguments were odd most of the time. Story was interesting. Funny thing is the main story isn't highlighted. Kind of reminds me of

Spoiler:

Assassin Creed

. Oh that is spoiler.

Watched Scoob and thought it was terrible. Kids might dig it. They couldn't decide if the movie was for kids or adults. Didn't like the voice actor choices. Didn't like the way old characters were changed. Story was dumb even for scooby doo toon. I worse thing was the movie trying to be hip, came off as sad.

The last season of She-Ra! Just wow. Can't decide whether to just rewatch the last season or the whole thing again.

I'm just about to start the final season tonight. I don't think I've enjoyed a cartoon this much since Avatar.

I want to watch again Knights of Sidonia... very much loved it1
