[News] Post a D&D Picture

Previous incarnations of Cleveland/P&C/D&D have had an image thread, to handle political cartoons and other image-based stuff that doesn't belong in the general post-a-picture threads.

If any of them spawn an extended discussion, please spawn it off into its own thread. Replies to non-picture replies should take the form of a link pointing to a post on a different discussion thread.

And I shouldn't have to say it, but the images still need to abide by the rules.

It is why I can still hear Led Zeppelin on the radio.

I lol'ed.

Personally I wish she had won. Politically it would have been a disaster.

Maybe I will always be inclined to take the cheap shots out of sadness at what would have been. Long term and in general it would have been worse. Short term and personally, though, I would have much preferred these last couple of years to have been under her.

Either way, those years since '16 are gone now, and are never coming back.

Neat. Can you teach me to travel between alternate timelines in the multiverse too?

Well sh*t that is terrifying.

You hear that?

That's the sound of all those "wearing a mask is tyranny" f*ckers feverishly licking any boot they can find.

Wait, Crimea has a Lincoln Memorial, too? /s

Have the apes taken over yet?

I think that exact image is in The Handmaid's Tale somewhere...

Lincoln Memorial, Washington DC.

This isn't Fallout, right? Because goddamn, that looks like images of pre-WW3 Fallout America.

edit: and that's on the Lincoln memorial, too. Somehow, I don't think that's coincidence.

I wish I could have predicted yesterday that James Dolan of the Knicks' stupidity regarding the current BLM movement would be topped by Dan Snyder just a day later. Or Jed York, for that matter.

I'm curious. There seems to be a lot of support for the protests on this (primarily white American) forum.

Have any of you participated in the protests? If not, shouldn't you?

Actually it’s a primarily Canadian forum.

Joke aside I have a couple of thoughts.

- Covid is still out there. I’m positive I’m at high risk of dying of Covid due to my health, but I make good money. So I’ve assumed so far that it’s better for me to stay alive and donate to bail funds and mutual aid organizations rather than going out there physically.

- Some people on the forums might not answer that question, because right now the government is actively trying to hunt down dissidents and keeping quiet about what you are involved with is probably smart.

Curious the point of this post? Can you only support something directly? Should I take my children and family to a place I will get assaulted when I am losing my health insurance in a month? Or should I spend my time educating myself and others in support? Supporting my church in their outreach actions to the poor community around them? Feeding the hungry, helping those who request it, etc?

This seems like a poorly worded ask, I suggest you rethink your question or clarify why you are insinuating folks here are not doing enough?

Might be poorly worded, but the sentiment is on point.

Rather than getting defensive in response, and justifying whatever level of action you're taking, every one of us should be asking ourselves "am i doing enough?" and "can i do more?"

Those are very worthwhile questions to ask yourself.

Joke aside...

Pardon any shortness, trying to post on mobile.

C-level is heavily Canadian, but usership lately has been closer to 60/40 or 70/30 in favor of the US.

You're hitting a nerve here on purpose, and I think you're going to get some defensive replies and pushback for that. Shame can be a powerful motivator, but it can sometimes be a monkeys paw in that there's always a negative element. Also I think diminishing return increases the further the relationship is between shame-r and shame-ee, so I'm not sure you're going to get the results you're hoping for.

~mod hat on~
Also, this is a post a picture thread, so please we divert this conversation elsewhere as it's could devolve into heated discussion and that goes outside of the scope of this particular thread.
~mod hat off~

Some are going out, and checking in but tends to be in other social media spaces like slack, irc, discord, whatsapp for the reasons listed above and not archived on a website.

Due to the fact that our usership also skews older (30-60), a lot of them are caregivers or breadwinners, which makes attending complicated and spotty at best for those that are able while still navigating concerns regarding the pandemic.

It's...complicated. Will be detailing more in the coming week as noted on the latest podcast regarding what we can do to help.

Now, back to pictures, please.

Thumbs down to that Forrest Gump meme. That meme is usually used to dump on people who care.

Who are they trying to inspire with these creepy-ass pictures? Maybe they were aiming for devout, powerful, and serious, but they landed on sullen, resentful, and robotic.

I'll take Depressing Reality for 1000, please, Alex.

More than anything, that photo looks to me like a promotional picture for a gothic horror movie with possessed priests.

All the faces in back have a "Who the f*ck are they and what the f*ck are they doing here?" vibe.

Like everything else, the photographer also seems to not know what they're doing, either. Maybe it's on purpose. If so, good on them. Otherwise... This was the best one. This was the best take they had. Yikes.
