Just a simple dumb thing, but fixing a drifty Switch joycon. Twelve bucks for a kit with a new stick and all the tools, and it took me about a half hour to get the thing working again.

Which kit did you buy? Are there more than one? I have that problem with my left joycon, and Nintendo's repair services are not working at the moment.

This one:
Veanic 3D Replacement Joystick Analog Thumb Stick for Nintendo Switch Joy-Con Controller - Include Tri-Wing & Cross Screwdriver Tool + 2 Thumbstick Caps . There are others on amazon with different tools and numbers of replacement sticks, but I got the most basic one.

It didn't have any instructions so I used this video which was very clear about what to do:

I did the same thing a few months back (plus I switched the shell to a different cover) and it was fairly easy.

Fleece pants on a lazy cloudy Saturday. Don't judge me! I'm playing Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order and Maneater and have no agenda other than maybe watching the rocket launch here in a few minutes.

Finally finished the last page of a 5-page comic story I've been working on since November. There was a lot of procrastination between then and now.

Time to import the damn thing into Manga Studio/Clip Studio Paint and finish the French and English lettering!

And then, I can start working on a 9-page story.

6 months to read 5 pages would be a bit long Even if you're reading a "Blake & Mortimer" comic or something similar

My daughter graduated from college yesterday. It was so nice to have a brief oasis to celebrate a positive moment. I'm trying super hard to focus on that moment because she worked so hard for it. It's really hard though as I struggle to cope with everything else around this moment.

Congrats to you and your daughter!

Kind Words (Lo-Fi Chill Beats to Write By) is a pretty amazing thing. Not a game, really, but something to help you, and help you help strangers. Emotionally quite strong.

Walking in the park today, for the first time in literally twenty years I saw a dude chilling out doing footbag tricks.

If my memory serves me he's doing "butterflies", and they're... uh, not as easy as he's making them look

Man when I was his age I could juggle an imaginary soccer ball for hours without letting it drop!

Man, talk about a reversal. They must have seen some serious hits to sales in the years they were away from steam to just about-face like this.

They haven't, actually, at least not by their financials. Like other games and publishers that have left Steam, they didn't really see an effect from any sort of boycott, and they were still able to market to their audience.

The important part of that announcement is that EA Access is coming to Steam, i.e., EA's subscription service. That's where they see their money: not in catalog sales but in ongoing subscription fees. Publisher as a service, if you will.

It's also notable that it's specifically EA Access. That's their console subscription that gives access to older games; it's the equivalent to the basic Origin Access and isn't the one that gets you their new release games on day one. That appears to still be tied exclusively to Origin.

They're just broadening their potential subscriber base for games that have tapered off in sales anyway.

A side effect though is a bunch of EA game are now available through steam that weren't before (Dragon age Inquisition) or had been previously pulled. (Dragon Age 2 + it's DLC). I imagine part of whatever deal Steam and EA cooked up means they'll have to bring their games back to steam? I guess?

Yeah, what I meant was that moving EA Access to steam was actually part two of EA coming back - they announced... last year sometime, I think, that EA games were coming back to steam, too.

And maybe it hasn't hit them especially hard financially, but somebody at that company must think they're leaving money on the table by not being on steam.

Maybe the cost of running Origin is greater than what they were losing to Valve, especially if they were able to cut a new deal with Valve. Part 3 may be shutting down Origin.

My butt.

I was really irritated that my iPhone USB port was really loose. Any cable I plugged into it would pop out at the slightest movement. When I plugged it in at night to charge, it would randomly stop charging and then start charging again, playing a little tone in the middle of the night that was keeping up my wife. I couldn't use my earbuds with it because they plugged into the USB port.

Prepping to send the thing for repairs or replacement, I googled the problem. And what did I find? A suggestion to use a toothpick of similar implement to scrap out accumulated pocket lint that could be packed into the USB port.

And that's exactly what it was. All this lint was packed into the inside of a tiny iPhone lightning port and it was stopping cables from plugging in completely.

That happens to the little earpod case charging slot too. Just so you know.

I actually went into a shop to see if they could fix this as i was getting really annoyed with my phone no charging, and the nice person just showed me how to clean it out, It's so obvious but I just did not think about it!

I love home-cooked meatloaf. It's one of those comfort foods that my mom used to make on a regular basis when I was growing up. My wife and I, however, have never made a meatloaf before in our lives. So, I went looking and came across a recipe that we tried last week. It turned out fabulous. The best thing about making that meatloaf, however, came this week with awesome meatloaf sandwiches for lunch. Today, I upped the ante and turned the last of that meatloaf into a sloppy joe that was simply amazing.

Wow!! I just did the same after reading your post and WOW!! I was preparing to just buy a new iPhone because I figured that a repair shop would rip me off or steal my data or something. I need my phone for work and I was having a hell of a time keeping it charged. The lightning plug wasn’t popping out but I was having to wiggle it just so to get it to charge and it would inevitably get bumped and stop charging without me realizing.

Dude!! You saved me! Thanks!

Glad I could help, Rawk.

Thatguy, my grandmother used to mix mustard and ketchup for the glaze. I will never forget that flavor.

The toothpick trick is great! I accidentally figured that out at one point. The wood's texture helps grab the lint. I had previously used a bent paperclip, and that doesn't work nearly as well.

I always joke that I only ever use a cast iron pan to cook, but right now I can't find my iron so I'm ironing a shirt with my cast iron pan heated up on the stove. Now I can joke that I use it for everything.

My mom always did ketchup and brown sugar. I always asked her to make it and I thought it was something complicated until I found out the truth when I was like 15.

I don't remember where I got this recipe from but try it with molasses and spicy brown mustard as the glaze.
