Giant Bomb Bomb-All

Have they said anything about backfilling Dan?

Nope. They've usually waited a while before they even began hiring with the last people.

I've been enjoying the heck out of GameSpot's Mike Mahardy semi-regular guest appearances. That dude's funny as hell and seems pretty informed on the medium as well. Wish they could commit him to a permanent guest spot like Jeff Bakalar.

I will fight and die for my tall brother benard pack

Ben is very bad when he is playing a bit. Also tends to repeat jokes or go one too long. I like him a lot and don’t mind that he’s learning. He also brings a knowledge of love of GB history that I appreciate.

I’m sad there hasn’t been any Ranking of Fighters in forever. That and PokeMonday Night Combat are my favorite recurring shows.

Ben is fine. He and I have wildly different tastes in games, but that doesn't bother me.

...he just needs to stop with the yelling.

Catching up on UPFs. Business Dave is Really Something.

Ben has always rubbed me the wrong way, but so did Dan. For completely different reasons, but ya know.

Not that I've paid much attention to GB since Ryan passed.

I've grown to appreciate Business Dave. His top tens have become a highlight of UPF for me.

Oh geez, Jeff playing Super Mario Bros. Special for the PC-88 is super funny but so painful. That game is craaaaaaaaaaap.

Edit: Oh sweet, this one isn't premium:

Seriously, though, being forced to play that game infinitely would be perfect hell.

I was having a hard time watching him play because of how bad that thing is.

With Mahardy leaving Gamespot but also the building, he's definitely not going to replace Dan. I've been really enjoying him on the recent Beastcasts. Given Vinny's recent hires (Abby and Austin) I expect the new person, if they even hire one, will be a relative unknown.

Mass Al'ehcks is back.

Bah, I need to get back to Mass Alex 2. I love the ME games and like watching Alex and Vinny work through them, but I think I'd prefer it if someone could edit it down into a supercut of the good stuff for me...

Haven’t watched yet.

Spoiler:

How is Tali?

I believe you mean Alex-y Quest, the canonical title for the series.

She's been resurrected.

Just re-subbed after about a 3 year hiatus.

Is there a way to get the premium podcasts in a feed? I searched the Hot Spot in apple podcasts but don’t see it.

Thanks

I dunno about the Hotspot, but the other ones do give you a premium feed for podcast apps.

Yeah I’m dumb, found it. Thanks again lol

Great! Yeah, I dunno if the RSS feed is unique for each user. My guess is no, and you could pirate the feeds if you really wanted to.

I resubbed during the sale. I really enjoy checking in on the Giant Bomb folk each week.

While the Hotspot is technically a podcast, a good portion of each episode has been primarily video.

Thanks for the reminder. I kept putting off getting Premium. Jumping on that now.

I've heard good things about it, but I don't think it's enough for me to bite the bullet. To me it seems like the crew (west coast especially) has just run out of steam. When they finish Mass Alex I'll probably sub for a month and binge it.

It's not a unique RSS feed but I believe you do have to authenticate using your GB account.

I finished watching through Mass Alex Season 2. Man, Mass Effect 2 was a great game! Curious to catch up on Mass Alex 3. I remember so little of the game, it'll be interesting to watch it played.

It’s mostly the same with a bad ending

ME3 gets a bad rap because the ending left such a sour taste in everyone's mouth, but the 95% of it before the final mission is pretty damn great.

I played all of Mass Effect 3 when my first child was in the 1-3 month old range, so my retention of what actually happened is quite slight!

There are some greater narrative problems I had with ME3 (the poorly done dream sequences as an example) but the stuff it does well were classic BioWare (Legion & Tali and the Genophage). I’m a sucker for all the ME games, though.

I don’t remember enough from any ME game to actually credibly discuss the merits. I think I liked the Krogans?

What do you mean by run out of steam? Just curious.
