Nintendo Switch Catch-All 2.0

Yeah when you first sign up for any of them, they all set you for auto. Then go in and uncheck that box.

My wife and son have monopolized my switch hehehe...
I am toying with the idea of the switch light... is the console worth it? Or should I wait and get a regular switch for a decent price?

All comments welcomed.

I think the Switch Lite is an amazing piece of hardware. I loaned mine to my little brother, though, when it was clear games like Animal Crossing would have saves tied to the hardware for life.

Otherwise the screen is incredible and it’s a true portable. I really like it. I’m not really on the go much right now, so the use case isn’t as strong for me personally, but I endorse the hardware fully if it fits your use case.

Nintendo really needs to fix their online system.
Last night I was playing on the main switch dragon quest 11 with add on content of the extra outfits, my sons we’re playing super mega baseball on the switch downstairs which is a downloaded game. They kept getting kicked out of the game every time I started dragon quest because it said that online account was being used
I was playing a different game! I can see stopping me from playing super mega baseball on one switch while they’re playing super mega baseball on the other switch however there is no reason on this earth to titles that I have downloaded separately because not both be played on different switches
It is actually a little bit maddening I have paid for two different games paid for them but I can’t play them both because Nintendo refuses to except that somehow we are in the 21st-century

So indeed Nintendo accounts and online stuff sucks, but have you made separate accounts for you and the kids? That solved most of my Switch issues.

Good to know about that issue!

I actually had no idea (for whatever reason) that you could use the Pro Controller with the Switch in handheld mode. I love the Pro Controller so I started looking for a screen holder. I think I've found something even more appealing, its called the Fixture S1, here's a link Fixture S1 - Indiegogo

The Pro Controller paired with a kickstand Switch slipped my mind completely. So it wasn't just you. Between the two of us we somehow missed that. Doh! I can't believe I never thought to suggest it.

That Fixture S1 looks proper tidy, though. Hopefully it works a treat.

The pro controller and kickstand has been my conf call mode lately.
Also I rediscovered the joy of HDMI switch boxes where I have my second monitor setup to switch between PC use and Switch use.
Switch

Wife didn't get me any games for my bday this year, so I'm free to buy myself something now.

Can't decide between Animal Crossing and Xenoblade Chronicles.

I loooove the Xenoblade series and am beyond stoked for the remake/remaster.

I also enjoy the AC series, though I don't like it quite as much as Xenoblade. It's such a longterm game and I can play it around and with the kids.

My personal preference is Xenoblade (and the collector's edition), but AC has that charm.

I'm waffling.

I think if you're going to get AC, sooner is better than later. Still a pretty active group here playing, trading items and giving each other good turnip prices every week. Might as well get in while there's fun to be had online vs some other time next year when only a few of us might still be playing regularly.

I really enjoyed playing XC, and I'll probably go back and finish it at some point in the near future (I'm bad about finishing games before getting distracted). I really tried to enjoy Animal Crossing, but I was unbelievably bored after giving it a solid week or two of trying. I haven't played it at all recently, and don't miss it. That said, I also bounced really hard off of Stardew Valley, so YMMV.

I think Stardew Valley is fantastic. Part of my issue is that I probably prefer SD and Story of Season, Rune Factory, etc., more than AC. It likely comes down to linear structure of those games while AC is a bit too free form and toy-like. My game playing time is random and dispersed so

I spent some time watching some AC and XC vids last night and went ahead and ordered the XC collector's edition thing. AC can wait. I don't feel like I'm missing something from the past month or so of not having the game, but I'm stoked for XC.

I hadn't yet because super mega football was downloaded under my account I assumed it couldn't be played if I used another account.

Similarly with DQ11 i figured the content wouldn't be there if I used a different "profile"

But it is worth a try.

Still beyond dumb that different downloaded games can't be played on different switches.

Nah, the only game that checks account status to play are the Nintendo Online things like NES/SNES classic and Tetris 99. Those have to be played on the account that has Nintendo Online and won't work on other profiles without Nintendo Accounts or without Online accounts. But those other profiles can play any game on the system.

Remember, Zelda only has one save slot per profile. So of course it works with other profiles on the same Switch, even as a digital game.

There are more options for that as well. I have the family plan so everyone using our Switches should be able to use the cloud saves and access the games. So my (I'm the primary account holder) account covers which is the main Switch, where anyone can play the games, and then I can also do most of that on our secondary Switch.
I still get confused as Nintendo is opaque as hell on this stuff, especially figuring out which is Primary. Also the BS where only some games have cloud saves (that's a no for AC), drives me nuts.

Okay so trying right now if I start super mega baseball on my secondary switch as another profile not the one that purchased it it says you can't play this because you didn't purchase it

however if I launch it as my main profile on my secondary switch I can then play downloaded games on the main switch providing I use a different profile

Which is really annoying because I have a saved game that I wish to use.

So I found a workaround but it is still mind-numbing league dumb that I can't play two different games that I have downloaded has the same account on two different switches because they're different things I'm not taking money away from any particular publisher by doing this

More Nintendo weirdness

It sounds like you have your accounts switched around. Your boys should be playing the baseball game as a secondary account on the MAIN switch while you should be signed in as yourself on the other switch playing your stuff.

Primary Switch: travels with you around the world, signed into main Nin account; additional Switches: connected to wifi at home always, signed into linked family secondary accounts.

How do I setup this family account? I plan to google it when I am done typing this but still explanations by other people are sometimes better than web pages with ads, etc.

You may need to update Nintendo Online from single user to family.
But buried in the main account will be a family setting.

Tldr answer: $$$

Ah...well I may try other work arounds - like playing on a non primary switch with a second local account or vice versa etc.

They certainly don't make it easy.

Still cheaper than any of the other console subs.

For sure, but you get what you pay for.

No, farley, you shouldn’t need to upgrade from individual Switch Online membership to Family Switch Online just to play both switches simultaneously. I am not referring to the type of Online account you have. The Family Group settings are just how you associate subordinate accounts with parent/guardian accounts so they can share content. Basically, a profile is n the Switch itself is only good for saving save files locally, and to do anything such as access games purchased from a different Switch or online they need to be a mid-tier configuration setting: not Switch Online, but not just a profile—set up a Family Group. http://www.nintendolife.com/news/202...

I think I'm going to set my wife up with her own Switch for the holidays this year, since Animal Crossing has taken over our Switch and gets played pretty much all the time now. Probably won't do a Lite, since she's physically handicapped and can't hold the console (what she'll do a lot is put the Switch in her lap).

Wasn’t there a story recently about a dominatrix using Animal Crossing as a platform?
